I was raised Buddhist and there are a lot of comparisons in what they are saying that I can hear. I am a born again Christian and I can’t even begin to express how much Jesus has saved me from darkness. I used to think of ending my life every second of everyday, it was very natural for me because… “I could just try again in the next one”…. something I was raised to believe is an absolute inevitability. I mentioned to my mom that possibility that just maybe, she is wrong and we will all receive judgement weather we believe in it or not… and she laughed at me. I am a healthier person in every way because of God’s work in my life and His importance to me. My life finally has meaning. I’m not so self centered, angry, full of resentment and judgement toward people. Stuck in this never ending loop of LOA, manifestation and meditation rituals, always “looking inward” but never finding any answers. I’ve received now a peace with everyone whose ever wronged me. Including all my past mistakes. I was VERY BITTER and pompous before I came to Christ. These people remind me of that old self I was conditioned to be.

This video was on point. Also, I found the illustration intriguing. The main Satanist compared a bad man murdering innocent people to a good God killing murderers, rapists, and people of the like. See the problem? It's conflating killing with murdering. I think we can all agree, when U.S. soldiers killed Nazis in battle, that was justified. After all, the Nazi "party" was full of murderers, rapists, and people of the like, too. To further my point, here's a paraphrased illustration from Dr. McGee: "In the middle of the night, a man breaks in the room of a little girl, takes her in his car, and drives off. Screaming, crying, and begging to be brought back home, the girl is taken to the middle of a dark room and tied to a bed, where a man stabs her in the chest." That sounds pretty despicable, doesn't it? Well, what if I told you the girl had cancer, and the first man was her father, while the second man was her doctor. What if I told you, if not for that doctor, she would have died. It doesn't matter what she wanted. While it was painful and not pretty at all, rushing her to that doctor was the right thing to do. It was tough love. Tough love is doing what's right, no matter how much it may hurt.

@@ofpenandpaper2922: I get that you were going for the message of context mattering, but I feel like having the daughter be stabbed against her will wasn’t a good analogy. It would’ve been better if it was like a hospice care leading to euthanasia. There’s no way I can equate someone screaming before dying as that of a merciful and loving Father. My issue isn’t with God at all. It’s how you presented it, which I don’t feel was an accurate explanation of what God meant.

    • @ofpenandpaper2922
      @ofpenandpaper2922 2 года назад +5

@@shadowspector3611, I apologize for the way it came off. Like I said in my previous comment, that illustration was my paraphrasing of an illustration by Dr. McGee, and I must not have presented it clearly enough. I was not meaning to say the girl was killed. What I was getting at is she would have died of cancer if that knife wasn't stabbed into her and the cancer wasn't taken out. In other words, the father and doctor did not kill her, but they got her the surgery she needed. They saved her life. Can I just say, I commend you for getting the message out of it, despite the confusion I caused, and I commend that you did not blindly follow what I said but questioned it. Context is king, and we make sure we are getting the context before we go along with the messages of others.

This is utterly hilarious to me. I took a class in college on esoteric and occult religions because it seemed like an interesting class and I needed the upper-division credits and it was the only class that had an open seat for that semester. One of our units was satanism and Anton LaVey and lemme tell you, that guy was one messed up man. He's the one that wrote the satanic "bible" (quotations mine) and I had to read a few chapters of it for a paper and it was nonsensical. It makes sense from a secular point of view, but then when you actually think about it for more than two seconds, it makes no sense. LaVey wrote about Lucifer and demons and them being real and parts of satanistic rituals. These people don't even know what the nine statements are, because they all talk about who satan is and how his example is what humans should strive for. The fact that people even ascribe to this sinful, secular "religion" is absolutely insane to me as someone who's studied even the surface level of Anton LaVey's life

Eve and Adam were not mindless robots who did what God said just because. God never forces things upon us, choosing to listen to him is an everyday option. Satan came to lie, kill and destroy. @@v.isalwaystired I understand your point, but I see it a bit differently. The choice you're describing seems more like, "Do you want to be in a relationship with this person? If you say yes, you'll enjoy their company and the good things they bring to your life. If you say no, you won't have their presence or their gifts."
In the context of faith, God desires a close relationship with us, and being in His presence is what we call Heaven. On the other hand, Hell represents the absence of His presence, a place created to honor the choice of those who prefer to live apart from Him and His goodness. Those who love God and value His gifts will naturally seek to be close to Him.

As a person whose read up on Satanism i think i should explain...
Satanism does *Not* believe in a literal Satan, instead comes from the hebrew word "Satan" meaning "adversary" or "opposer", one who questions. They are regular people who do not believe any sort of deity or supernatural being, but still have rules:
    1. Do not give opinions or advice unless you are asked.
2.Do not tell your troubles to others unless you are sure they want to hear them.
    3. When in another’s lair, show him respect or else do not go there.
    4. if a guest in your lair annoys you, treat him cruelly and without mercy.
    5. Do not make sexual advances unless you are given the mating signal.
    6. Do not take that which does not belong to you unless it is a burden to the other person and he cries out to be relieved.
    7. Acknowledge the power of magic if you have employed it successfully to obtain your desires. If you deny the power of magic after having called upon it with success, you will lose all you have obtained.
    8. Do not complain about anything to which you need not subject yourself.
    9. Do not harm little children.
    10. Do not kill non-human animals unless you are attacked or for your food.
    11. When walking in open territory, bother no one. If someone bothers you, ask him to stop. If he does not stop, destroy him.
That is all it is, nothing else.

I do find it interesting that specifically 4 and especially 7 were skipped. I'll share them here so that people may decide for themselves whether it is interesting or not.
      1. One should strive to act with compassion and empathy toward all creatures in accordance with reason.
      2. The struggle for justice is an ongoing and necessary pursuit that should prevail over laws and institutions.
      3. One's body is inviolable, subject to one's own will alone.
      4. The freedoms of others should be respected, including the freedom to offend. To willfully and unjustly encroach upon the freedoms of another is to forgo one's own.
      5. Beliefs should conform to one's best scientific understanding of the world. One should take care never to distort scientific facts to fit one's beliefs.
      6. People are fallible. If one makes a mistake, one should do one's best to rectify it and resolve any harm that might have been caused.
      7. Every tenet is a guiding principle designed to inspire nobility in action and thought. The spirit of compassion, wisdom, and justice should always prevail over the written or spoken word.

I know this is an old comment, but I'll go ahead and respond anyway. Aside from the fact that you can't eat that much, you're leaving out some key details in terms of the concept of rebellion in Satanism, specifically that we should accept our humanity and do things that brings us pleasures as long as it doesn't hurt other people and in accordance with reason; Use your logical skills and ability to rationally think to make decisions, you are smart enough to where you don't need someone to tell you to not eat 1000 burgers, or at least I hope you are.
A rational person wouldn't eat 1000 burgers a day considering the fact that its impossible impractical financially and timewise, and would lead to health problems. A rational person would consider these and say "Yeah, I probably shouldn't eat 1000 burgers for these reasons." A theistic person would more than likely say "I shouldn't eat 1000 burgers because God/the Bible says so." But hey, if you want to try that, then by all means, try it and see how much it helps you.
As you said, God calls it gluttony, but the exact standard as to what makes something gluttony (if I eat a lot at a thanksgiving/Christmas dinner, is it gluttony? What if I haven't eaten in a day and I eat a lot to compensate, is that gluttonous, etc.) is kinda unclear. Even if it was clear, we can rationalize and make the judgement call, since we have the capability of doing it. It's interesting how some theist downplay what we as humans are capable of and try to assume that we can't make decisions for ourselves.

Satanism can be split into two types, Atheistic and Theistic. Atheistic satanists believe in what satan represents, which is loving your self, not owing anything to a higher power, and nobody being above anyone else. Meanwhile Theistic Satanists believe in Baphomet as a supernatural deity. Please do research before "debunking" a VERY real religion that people follow. :)

Hi, Satanist here! I would just like to say thank you for the free publicity, I do agree with some of your points actually (pleasure not all ways being good, all that jazz.) But I would like to make a few points sir, please don't be upset with me by the way I word things as I am a 14 year old. Basically satanism is just like any other religion, do what is correct in the world. Most of us don't actually believe that we can do anything we want, we all have morals and some people's morals are not the best (examples include, pedophiles, rapists, murderers, zoophiles, etc.) And almost everyone can agree that those people deserve to be punished, the difference between Christianity and Satanism is that Christians believe that the people who do bad things will be punished after they die, and Satanists believe that they should be punished while they are alive because we have no idea what happens afterwards. Thank you for reading this if you do sir.

My actions are to be constructive, even in this very comment I am aiming to calm the fears, hatred or otherwise negative feelings of others. You can follow your god, I know that idea brings you comfort and so I will respect it, but I am not one for idle comforts, I love this world and I love myself, so simply respect my things as I respect you and we'll all get along just fine. I think most satanists may like that religion because it makes them feel the illusion of being free and righteous, and it's mostly easy. Being righteous is NOT easy. Because we are flesh, being good and righteous requires fighting against our flawed, pleasure oriented and self-destructive desires. So of course shame is part of the process, and that process is what makes the journey of life so valuable: Growth, victories over ourselves with the help of God, service to others; an actual relationship with God, the only perfect being, our creator and the undeniable truth. Our souls and personalities are *polished* in life through our walk with Yahweh. That to me is infinitely more beautiful and meaningful than just living the way we want and worshipping our imperfect selves.

No. I really can't finish this. I tried. And I just can't get past you saying that atheists have no moral value. I'm sorry, but some of the most renowned philosophers were in fact atheist. You say that atheists have no moral standing when there were people who did not believe in god but dedicated their lives to the study of morality, and that's just absolutely crazy to me. To name a few:
    John Dewey
    Friedrich Neitzsche
    Karl Marx
Thomas Jefferson (a agnostic deist who leaned toward mother nature)
Thomas Hobbes (an enlightenment philosopher who is partially for YOU to thank for your "american rights", was a suspected closeted atheist as many of his philosophies condemn religion)
You have completely misread atheist, just as many christians do. I see christians who believe that atheists worship satan. I see christians who believe that we believe we are our own god. Neither of those are true. The meaning of atheist is to be without the belief in a god. That does NOT mean to be without morals. Because like the separation of church and state, there needs to be a separation of christian morals and humane morals. Most atheists will agree with (most of the ten commandments) as they are just basic humanity and decency. And then there is the way you treat people. What is a moral way to treat others or yourself? What is a moral way to live? Whereas biblical morals, the more we get into them, lean more towards self, how to become closer to god and therefore heaven, and how to lead a holy life. But the lack of biblical morals does not mean without morals as a whole. I, as an atheist, believe myself to be a moral individual. I don't look down on people, or see others as less than me. I believe that everyone has basic rights as a human being. I believe everyone deserves to feel loved. Very basic. Very standard. That is only the tip of morals that I hold myself to.
You cannot accurately say that atheists are without morals, because it's simply not true. To go along with that, I have personally been harassed by christians who insisted on telling me all about their god even after telling them I am an atheist and I have suffered under religious trauma. No care whatsoever for my experience or for the fact that they triggered my past traumas horribly. Atheists? They don't talk about being atheists. Not until you ask them or they wish to defend the atheist community. They aren't super open about it. They aren't shoving it down everyone's throats. Christians are now fighting to have bible studies and prayer into public schools despite the first amendment. How is any of that leading a christ oriented, let alone moral life? It's immoral l to press on someone's trauma and tell them it was the people, not god. It's cruel to push that on them when they've told you. It's immoral to try and push the church into state funded schools, showing no respect for kids who might be being raised on homes with no religion, islam, hinduism, judaism etc. It's immoral AND disrespectful.
You sound exactly what you say the bible says NOT to be. A hypocrite and a judge. You are judging an entire group of people without any kind of basis. And that makes you a hypocrite, in that you have said in other videos that the bible says not to judge. Please learn more about atheists, because this is not who we are.

FYI the Y chromosome bottle neck happened in the post Neolithic the ratio for every 1 man for 15 women.
(Not saying the flood was post Neolithic it was a measure of chaos in the old testament)
A better flood analogy would be a family falling apart beyond measure, brothers cutting the guts of other brothers and cruelly taking apart animals to still have fresh meat. Where is the father even though he told them multiple times to stop their antics? They do not listen or care. For generations they continued (the father still telling them to stop) this until the father had enough and drowned them all. He grieved for it had to be done, to limit the chaos being spread.

Yo, I don't know if you'll see this Isaac but I think something I've noticed is that a lot of people are using the story of Noah as a counter to the idea of God being loving and just and righteous. People actually don't consider the context of the world at the time. Genesis actually talks about fallen angels/demons wandering the earth with mankind and having relationships with them. And as a result there were half demon/half human abominations and giants wandering the world. On top of this the world had no care or concern or worry about God. We're talking about a world where everyone is just doing whatever they want.
People can kill, steal, rape and do whatever their heart desires, worship and seek whatever idol they fancy.
"Oh but I don't really care about other people, so long as I'm happy and safe, it's all well and good."
Yeah well in a world where there is nothing but chaos and wickedness, no one is safe. There is no freedom in being "free to do whatever you want", because your own desires and lusts will shackle you to a life based purely on feeling good.
And if your own desires are a threat to other's well-being?
"Well so long as you get what you want, where's the harm?"
Well then what happens when it's your own well-being at stake for the sake of someone else's sick pleasures and tendencies?
We wouldn't really be able to fully comprehend a world like that. But we can surely imagine it:
A world in which relationships with friends, family and others are only a means to an end, something to help with personal gain rather than considering the value, worth and feelings of others: A world without love.
A world in which people are free to hurt, harm or kill whoever and however they please, so long as it fulfils themselves: A world that is unsafe for all.
And a world in which your only meaning in life is based on our desires and nothing deeper: A world without purpose.
This is a world I never want to see. So I consider it grace that I can live in a world that at least has some semblance of decency. By all means even today the world is pretty messed up. But you can't deny the beauty and goodness that we get to experience now.
My friends and family, who have loved me and encouraged me and helped me become the man I am today. And my God, who is the reason for all that I am and all that I have. The same God who calls me His son and has called me to have a joyful and prosperous life. A life in which I am loved and have worth, a life in which I have dreams and a purpose. A life that is eternal.
I'm not just some existence feeding his body's cravings, needs and desires. Instead I'm a child of God with purpose and power through Jesus Christ. And that's all because God loved me so much that He saved me from a world filled with nothing but suffering. I don't know about the haters, but considering it like that makes God sound pretty loving to me.
God bless and all the best with the rest..

I agree. People forget about the violence and horror that was going on during the flood. That’s why God send the flood. In fact, In Hebrew when it says God regretted man it meant his heart was sadden for humanity and he had to do something just with us that he didn’t want to do but must be done for justice sake. Of course some atheist will say well he shouldn’t make us in the first place if he knew we were going to be rebellious. That’s the thing. God knew the risk when he was going to create free creatures, but he did it anyway because he knew he was going to save them and bring them back to him if they went off the deep end. I believe that Adam and Eve could have not sinned against God and we would have been okay. It’s just one of those things where God knew two possible outcomes and one of them came to fruition.

@@tylerx099 fully agree. I think there was only two options. Either don't give mankind any freewill and we live our lives as robots. Or we are given freewill. God wanted and still wants us to willingly love Him. It's not love if it's against your will or your forced to do it. But with that freewill comes the guaranteed risk that there will be people who choose sin and wickedness rather than God. And because we are sinful by nature, that means that there will be pain and suffering and people getting hurt. It is an uncomfortable reality but also the best one when it comes to how the world works. God knew what He was doing. God bless ya brother..

If a truly awful world exists, wouldn't you rather improve that world rather than committing global genocide? That's one thing that keeps bothering me about Christians. It feels like you're ready to let the whole world burn because you think there's a better one coming. What if there isn't? What if we actually have to do something about inequality, and about the environment? You should consider the possibility that your deity will never call you to get on his special boat to his perfect everlasting world of joy and bliss while he kills everyone else.

@@Maksie0 the thing about that is that he is calling you right now to join him. You don’t have to be in a world will people reject God or don’t care to have them in their lives. You can accept Jesus today and encourage others to do the same so that they won’t be destroyed. God has provided us a conduit and he wants us to go out and make the whole world His Church. Of course, you are going to get set backs. You know I firmly believe without a doubt that God is real and he is going to make the world into Eden again. I mean for crying out loud we have already seen some archaeological evidence that has been validating the Bible recently. For example we discovered a lead tablet with very old Hebrew writing that possibly dates to the time of Joshua. A period in biblical history that has been debated by maximalist and minimalist scholars.

@@tylerx099 I don't believe that your god exists, let alone that he's calling anyone. Ancient tablets aren't evidence for supernatural claims.

Obey god or things get really bad for you. being a slave to him makes you much happier so do that…. Like people don’t want to essentially be forced to do something under the threat of damnation just because some authority says you have to do so or else.

Seriously. I laughed out loud when he said "slave to God". I don't get how someone can't see the problem with that.

I met one of these guys in the gym once. I ended up mocking the Hell out of him with Star Wars quotes from Darth Sidious and Darth Vader. Ya know. Equated the whole thing with being a Sith Lord. "Your anger has made you powerful. Now give in to your hate!" "You don't know the POWER of the Dark Side of the Force!" "You will pay the price for your lack of vision!" I met another one who was a co worker. He wasn't great about showing up to work, so he eventually got let go.
