this guy is fantastic, what a great sound, this is how music should be, its real, got soul, feel , guy plays with heart and passion...nothing is fabricated or pretentious...thankyou gary
I was lucky enough to see Richie Havens at Blissfest, near Bliss, Michigan a little less than five years ago. I have never been so blown away, laying staring at the stars while his frantic yet collected rhythms danced through the air. I had heard Clark's name thrown around, and had listened to him this past summer, and thoroughly enjoyed it, but had forgotten to give him a longer listen. Tonight shall be dedicated to these two amazing artists.
This guy is really good. Often he keeps it simple but so perfect though he can really cut loose and do crazy stuff. What he does is so full of soul and groove, his singing too.
I moved out of Seattle a week before he played at the Croc! Bad move; I was pretty bummed I missed that show. He shreds man. My friend saw him at Jazzfest in NOLA this summer and he rocked it. Awesome video, thanks KEXP!
Saw this guy 9 years ago in Gruene Hall opening for someone, I forget who. I was blown away and wondered what ever happened with him. Very pleased to see him again.
Agree with everything except Spin, but hell yeah with Clark Jr., The Black Keys, and of course Jack White with his old bands & now his solo work. So my friends music's not dead, and it is about time we recognize these and so much other talent! Blues/blues-rock is everything baby...
Finally someone mentions The Black Keys as a similar sound, all the comparisons to Hendrix and whatnot is nonsense he has much more of a Black Keys sound for sure, and KEXP is amazing when i heard Jordan Cook (Reignwolf) play i was hooked to your videos, Im in Oklahoma so i dont get the radio portion but Def keep up the awsome work.

I vote for a new reality show: get Gary Clark, Jr.,...Ben Harper,....Robert Randolph,...Derek Trucks, Doyle Bramhall, II, Keith Richards, John Paul Jones, Dave Grohl, Jack White, and The Black Keys up in a far away, wilderness northwest woods house for a month,...film/record everything,...and let the spirit of the Blues and real roots music pour fourth!
They did a documentary with Jack White, Jimmy Page, and The Edge where they lived in a country house for a few weeks and jammed. At the end they had to play a gig together, it was awesome. If you put Dave Grohl in there he'd just disrupt the whole flow of things. He's said it himself that he's a control freak, he doesn't let anyone else write.

Gary is the NEW! Nice! more soul than Jack White n Black Keys, same mojo. All are great. What's with all the non Clark Jr vids to the right?! Like no, no, wait look at us, really? haha...let my boy have his time to shine;)
better mojo! he plays the REAL blues. i love all the other guys though. there's some good videos of gary out there if you search. i can't wait for him to get famous
its incredible how someone can influence on other people lives just by playing a song. This was incredible, l just want to grab my guitar and pretend be Gary
uhhh welcome to the blues buddy. You'd be shocked how many songs are repeated with shared lyrics and stuff, which is why the feel of a song is so important in blues music
Skip Interview - 14:30 But if you never watched the Interview don't skip it, it is very interesting! But if you watch the whole video again and again (like I do), then you don't want to hear it every time ;) Have fun
SIMPLY AMAZING. How could you possibly dislike this?

I saw him at Coachella last year and he brought tears to my eyes. It was wonderful. Then I broke my leg a week later.
This guy is really good. Often he keeps it simple but so perfect though he can really cut loose and do crazy stuff. What he does is so full of soul and groove, his singing too.
Best performance I've seen in years.
I just came back from a long night and this version of bright lights just saved me... thank you
Keeping blues music alive!

Thank you for keeping the blues tradition alive and well. Lovin your style!
Saw this guy 9 years ago in Gruene Hall opening for someone, I forget who. I was blown away and wondered what ever happened with him. Very pleased to see him again.
I found myself dozing during the interview. It was interesting to listen to, but their voices are so soft-very relaxing. Diggin' the grooves 2.
This was great--if he doesn't become a major music star in this country, we're on the wrong track! That last Chuck Berry-inspired tune was a blast.
KEXP thanks for the ride on all ya'll show
amazing..
Blues for life.
Gary get it. Pure talent, feeling.
What a sound!
Saw him live twice: opening a EC concert in Rio de Janeiro and at the Crossroads Guitar Festival in NYC last year. This guy definitely has the blues.

Just because you don't like someone's music doesn't mean you can't acknowledge their talent

This song is my favorite right now. It's stuck in my head. I had to do a cover of it.
True Art!
The future of the blues is safe with Gary Clark Jr. and Derek Trucks.
Impresionante !
Me gusta! Dicen que este Gary Junior es la nueva promesa del Blues. What do you think?
Beautiful. I love the more acoustic electric sound much more than his fast blues rock. To each his/her own but I loved it.
Wow!!! Would like to hear him live in Germany.
Amazing.
Die Stimme ist der Hammer! Richtig geiler Typ!

It's because the vocalist of the Black Keys bend the vocal notes just like Gary Clark Jr. does, they have the same style :)
notch johnson is a great journalist
Gran músico, gran guitarra GIBSON ES335, la misma que usaba Alvin LEE.
Yah I do...his music

his voice sounds a bit like Alvin Youngblood Hart. He's been around since the 90's, check him out too!
now THAT'S real black music!
I used to say that, untill i here Gary.

Gary is awesome. Do you guys have any similar artist recommendations?
Love Gary, the dude interviewing him kinda reminds me of a ceral killer.
Obviously they're both bluesy so instrumentally they sound similar but yeah I definitely hear similarities in his vocals and Dan's from the keys.
-ROADHOUSE-
thats the blues influence son :D
Hce años estos guitaristas tenian que ser ls mejores y enfrentarse (muchas veces violentamente) a sus competidores. Hoy son grandes del instrumento,
