The tank has to clear up a little, but all in all I think it turned out really well. As I said in the video I document the my care/maintenance routine from here out to give you an idea of what I do with a tank like this. If you have any additional stocking ideas, let me know!

It would be really cool to see a video of you doing maintenance on all your enclosures. I only have 3 aquariums and the maintenance stresses me out sometimes - I can't imagine how much work all of yours are!
Personally I think this is one of your best set ups until now.I love the way you structured the wood from left to right and the plants are just right to this composition.I don’t know too much about fish but black skirt tetras would maybe fit.
This is my favorite hardscape that you have done! The way the branches twist around the rock makes it look like an ancient artifact swallowed by nature. 💕
this is REALLY the first time that I heard the word "dictate" and it is the perfect word for it!! this is the best explanation of how to set-up a nano scape
I just discovered your channel after giving bonsai another try. I was watching bonsai vids then the algorithm directed me towards one of your terrarium vids. So far I've watched at least 20 lol. You inspired me to give terrariums a go! After purchasing a bunch of stuff to get started I've already completed my 1st being a native San Diego plant enclosed version. All plants collected where I've been hiking lately and creating a scene reminiscent of this oak tree/ boulder drainage that I love. I too have always loved nature, the outdoors, exotic pets, lately photography etc. Anyway, thanks for your awesome content!👊🏼
Tanner, watching you work is visual poetry. Your meticulous attention to detail and encyclopedic knowledge are incredibly gratifying to see in action. Watching you work is mesmerizing, your builds are glorious. I am a paludarium enthusiast, and though I have had a bio-active setup for years by happy accident, I now have the information that I need to make my new build truly perfect for my dart frogs. Thank you for using the specific names of plants and micro-fauna, it makes employing knowledge gained from watching you so much easier for us!
First off, can I just say how amazingly talented and sightful you are to create all these masterpieces of life!!! Also, wondering that because this is almost a year to the date how this tank is doing. I've had tanks before but have always wanted a fully planted natural aquascape like this. Seeing that you haven't used CO2 for this setup is refreshing as well, because it is an extra I cannot pocket at the moment.
For catching fish, when I know I'm going to need to, I just use a water bottle with the top cut off and inverted to fit snug. I put a tiny piece of food in it then place it in the tank. The fish swim in but not so easily out. It works especially well with smaller aquariums.
Kuhli loaches would love this planted setup with tons of places to hide! I loved my Kuhlis. I was only sad that they hide most of the time, but then they come out they always instantly melt my heart :) but perhaps I did something wrong (I kept them a very very long time ago, and I was definitely not an aquarium expert at age 12 yet). Please let me know if you don't have the 'hidden Kuhli problem', and how you got them to be outgoing. Because I'm planning a new aquascape and I'm seriously considering to get some Kuhlis again. But I just want them to be happy!!
I actually have like 20-30 Red eye tetras in my 55 and theyre extremely skittish. I've tried making a bigger school and adding hiding places and such to make them more outgoing but as soon as I approach my tank they all dart to cover. I have cherry barbs and corys with them so I'm not sure if I need something more outgoing as a dither but thats my personal experience with red eye tetras. I love watching them feed from 6 feet away but boy are they skittish.
@@travmendoza Red eyed tetras are really quite consistent in terms of size, around 2.5-3 inches assuming they're healthy animals. I agree that this is too large for the setup considering their activity level and schooling needs. Something like glowlights, or even bloodfin tetras, would achieve a similar look while staying appropriate for the tank size.
You created such a beautiful scape without high-tech equipment. With these low-light plants, I imagine the tank should be relatively easy to maintain. I like what you said, "I am letting the materials to tell me how I should scape it." Very inspirational.
I am right in the middle of a low-tech 10g build right now and this gave me such inspiration and ambition for how to continue! Thanks, your videos are always so great.
You really nailed this aquarium with the hardscape; I think there is no way you could do this better! With such a good hardscape layout the beautiful plants are like the icing on a cake. Well done.
Love the way the hardscape looks! I would add some Pathos cuttings to the hang-on filter, helps with the filtration and would look nice "climbing" on the stand. ❤️
This is (to me obv) one of your best works man. Damn. Even just the colour contrast dark/light is just perfect. The more you go on the better you get. Incredible. Thank you and compliments
I wish that we were next door neighbors, or cousins or something, so that I could go look at your tanks sometimes/alot--- haha. I wouldn't mind having a tank or two myself, like I use to. But I couldn't handle anything on the scale that you achieve. Thanks for sharing your fantastic talent and love for aquatic life.
I had a peacock eel in one of my tanks for quite a while. He liked to wrap himself in and around the plants so you couldn't always see where he was but when he decided to take center stage he seemed magical.
School of Glowlight tetras 👍 will surely blend in. I'm a fan here from the Philippines and now got my own low tech setup for my 6G tank. Very thankful on your videos. Keep it up, stay safe and peace😁
A small group of Pygmy corydoras would be amazing. I love those little guys and have a group of my own in my tank. It would be awesome to see one of my favourite nanofish in one of your setups
I'd love to see some African dwarf frogs, but I think it would be hard to feed them in such a densely planted tank. Some dwarf crayfish might look nice, if they're compatible!
I just love it. Though if I were you I will put a little more current for better nutrient distribution and also add some ottos to help the cleaning regime. Nice setup!
Probably the greatest tank build video I have ever seen! I love how you mentioned you let the materials tell you how you should scape but with your idea in mind. the flow of this design and hardscape tho 👏 and the finishing touches with the sand and gravel 🔥Ember tetras combo with Kubotai is a sweet color constrast, it pops like crazy!
I also love planted setups with ember tetras, I'm planning one for myself at this moment too. The orange/red just colors so good with all the green and they stay so small!
I wish I could build something like this to look at in my house, so incredibly beautiful. Your build quality and attention to minor details is unmatched, keep up the amazing work!
Great overall look! Love your work! I recommend your channel to everyone I can, any time I get asked about terrariums or planted aquariums, I tell people to look you up!
I love the new danio tank.🐟🐠 The enclosure looks allot better. My favourite part is the passion of the stones, driftwood and plants🌿🪴🌱🌴🌳🌾. Bye and peace ✌️✌️✌️
Tanner again such a fantastic tank build . I wish I had extra room for at least a 20 gal. To work with in my small apt. Years ago I had fish , and now I’m wanting to get back into it. Watching your videos are every relaxing and informative. Keep up the fantastic designs , and congratulations on all your well deserved success. 🤗🐠🌱🐟💚
Hey Tanner, I would like to let you that fluval stratum and seachem flourite are not good planted tank substrates. both contain virtually no nUtRiEnTs, flourite is glorified gravel, stratum only makes the water slightly acidic and crumples into a powder very fast. eco-complete is inert but has high cation exchange capacity (cec) so as long as you dose heavily with ec you're fine
Yeah, after witnessing the destructive nature of crawfish I would only recommend them as solitary inhabitants. And they don't seem to like heavily planted tanks, clearing and redecorating (not to mention eating) at will.
Crayfish like to rest in a spot out of the water from time to time. If one isn't provided, you'll find them crawling on your floor one day, even if the tank is covered. And crayfish would absolutely destroy the plants in this tank.
I have corydoras babrosus in my nano tank and they are so fun to watch, definitely a favorite to watch. I think Black Pearl Killifish, Dwarf Rainbowfish, or Peacock Gudgeon might be a neat centerpiece fish, too, that would get along with your current stocking well.
Galazy Rasbora are my favorite nano fish. It think they'd look great here and go well with other Rasborra's. Another great build, can't wait to move out of my 10 m^2 room and start my own aquarium room!
You might consider adding cherry barbs. They're a somewhat larger nano fish. I have some in a 5 gallon with guppies and neons. Everyone gets along and the male cherries especially are a good pop of color.
Tanner, I absolutely love your vids, you are a true artist. Plus your slow methodical methods of showing every step in the process (plus your production values esp lighting/camera work) are some of what makes you so watchable. But..... As a long time tropical, cichlid, salt fish and reef keeper, I feel you leave out some real critical details (from the 3 dozen I've seen, maybe I just missed it). One, it seems some if not most, your tanks, dont have lids. Unless you keep it REAL humid in that room you must hafta add a ALOT of water on an almost daily basis which helps keep water clean as the contaminants precipitate out. As such, I cant believe you dont have an RO or DI. If you do, please comment on system. Two, I've also never seen you even mention a heater. Its difficult to believe you can keep your live stuff (fins and reps) without at least pretty good temp control esp in winter unless you keep your house 75F or more which some people like I guess. Three, as your biological fish waste loads are really low, have you tried a NO filter biological tank? I actually got to where one of my salt fish tanks used nothing but live sand and power heads which reversed direction to mimic tides and had great results. And in your freshwater tanks, I also have seen no comments about adding small power heqads just to keep water moving which is SO, SO critical in almost any setup. Last, re costs. I'm as cheap as anyone and also shop walmart, lowes and home depot clearance racks but please comment on your plant costs. I cant get anywhere near what you get sometimes. It would cost me $150 - $200 just for the plants you use given the wide variety of stuff you come up with. Rest of the hobby materials, you make GREAT use of cheap stuff, find really creative ways to use it. Thanks keep up vids, I actually subscribed which I seldom do.
you're so good at what you do! such great plant diversity and texture achieved! thank you for doing what you do, with such skillful passion, and for sharing :) really enjoyed this scape
Very well designed it’s great. I wouldn’t have put the crypt in there. I use that one as well and often it’s runners are found. You should put a bamboo shrimp in there. I suggest the blue one.
How about some "Moskitorasbora brigate" They wood bring a really nice red touch in to the Scape 🐟🐠 I also hold them together with "Mikrorasbora Kubotai"
The tank has to clear up a little, but all in all I think it turned out really well. As I said in the video I document the my care/maintenance routine from here out to give you an idea of what I do with a tank like this. If you have any additional stocking ideas, let me know!
Maybe some Guppies? I also think, it would look very beautiful, if there is something growing out of the water. Think about it😄
Otocinclus?
@@sorscha Uhh, that's also a good idea.
Freshwater Pom Pom crabs!
I think a few otocinclus or even a small school or ember tetras should look great!
You should make a prehistoric themed riparium with plants like the resurrection plant and also triops in the water

The way I look at it is that every scape (in theory) should be better than my previous.
Kuhli loaches would be a fun surprise going in and out of the plants and are very peaceful.
Nice to see you aquascaping again 👍
It's been a while, but it was time to do some new ones!

Bonsai sent me his way too lol
Red cherry shrimp, in addition with some Mosquito rasboras would really contrast the well planted scape!
When you put in the serpadesign logo it just warmed my heart, to think how far you've come. These are loveliest aquascape projects
Watching Tanner's vids makes me want to be one of his aquatic creatures that get to live and experience his artworks.

Maybe you could add some Red Eyed Tetras to the tank as well. I think they’ll add a bit more color to the tank.
I think Red eyed Tetras are very under rated fishes As are X-ray Tetras. Both have subtle colours that blend well in natural set-ups like this one.

Love the way the hardscape looks! I would add some Pathos cuttings to the hang-on filter, helps with the filtration and would look nice "climbing" on the stand. ❤️
I pothos is too large for this one. I have plans to add some other riparian groth though!
My friend has pothos growing out of the hang on filter. I think it might look nice if you just took a small cutting and trimmed it from time to time.
The pothos would totally look cool wrapping around the stand
The different depths that the driftwood created is amazing. Great job bro
Serpa Design is awesome I love his tanks!
I love this, not sure how I've missed this over the years of watching your channels, but the timing is perfect as I'm planning a new tank. thank you 👏

School of Glowlight tetras 👍 will surely blend in.
I'm a fan here from the Philippines and now got my own low tech setup for my 6G tank. Very thankful on your videos.
Keep it up, stay safe and peace😁
I think this is the best nano scape I've seen of yours. Great work! You have a gift, sir...
A small group of Pygmy corydoras would be amazing. I love those little guys and have a group of my own in my tank. It would be awesome to see one of my favourite nanofish in one of your setups
Those are the best looking leopard danio fish I have ever seen! The tank looks great!
I'd love to see some African dwarf frogs, but I think it would be hard to feed them in such a densely planted tank. Some dwarf crayfish might look nice, if they're compatible!
Most tetra type fish are such ravenous eaters that it's hard to feed dwarf frogs without isolating them somehow at feeding time.
The crayfish may rip up the plants though
Fish Bone OMG I SAID THE SAME THINGGGG
Your production has ramped up so insanely well with your videos, those completed tank close ups timed with the music choice were 11/10

This was a feast for the eyes, mind, and soul. Beautiful. 🌳🌿🌱🍃
Hello this tank is very beautiful thanks for sharing this.
I love the new scape, really beautiful with the gnarly roots and textured stones
I wish I could build something like this to look at in my house, so incredibly beautiful. Your build quality and attention to minor details is unmatched, keep up the amazing work!
This is now my go to chill out channel, keep up the good work
That drift wood really brought the scape together. I think an albino bristle nose pleco would look great in this tank 😁😁
Very based and relaxing videos. This is one of my favorite channels on RUclips!
Beautiful low tech aquarium👍
Proves that you don't need a high-tech aquarium to be beautiful.
Look at all that buce! 😍 that tank is total tank goals.
One of your best scapes till date
Great overall look! Love your work! I recommend your channel to everyone I can, any time I get asked about terrariums or planted aquariums, I tell people to look you up!
You are literally an artist.
That light is so cool! i just got a small 5.5 gal tank and have been looking for a lighting solution. I love your tanks!
I love the new danio tank.🐟🐠
The enclosure looks allot better. My favourite part is the passion of the stones, driftwood and plants🌿🪴🌱🌴🌳🌾.
Bye and peace ✌️✌️✌️
Bro you have some serious talent
Real beautiful set up , I never seen Gold Ring Danios before real nice fish ,, Tks for sharing
Amazing as always congrats on being full time
Thank you so much!
Love the look of tiny fish exploring these giant awesome designs
Tanner again such a fantastic tank build . I wish I had extra room for at least a 20 gal. To work with in my small apt. Years ago I had fish , and now I’m wanting to get back into it. Watching your videos are every relaxing and informative. Keep up the fantastic designs , and congratulations on all your well deserved success. 🤗🐠🌱🐟💚

You should add crayfish, find some beautiful natural looking ones! :) love the videos btw
I think they'll ruin the setup or escape. I could possibly do a dedicated tank for them though.
Just wow... breathtaking. Well done!
The tank looks amazing
You should put some kuhli loaches in there
I have corydoras babrosus in my nano tank and they are so fun to watch, definitely a favorite to watch. I think Black Pearl Killifish, Dwarf Rainbowfish, or Peacock Gudgeon might be a neat centerpiece fish, too, that would get along with your current stocking well.
I think Amandae Tetras (Ember Tetras) would go great with the Kubotai. Great scape
this scape is gorgeous, i especially love the flow of the hardscape. can't wait to redo my betta tank and take inspiration from your tips.
Galazy Rasbora are my favorite nano fish. It think they'd look great here and go well with other Rasborra's. Another great build, can't wait to move out of my 10 m^2 room and start my own aquarium room!
The set-up is awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You might consider adding cherry barbs. They're a somewhat larger nano fish. I have some in a 5 gallon with guppies and neons. Everyone gets along and the male cherries especially are a good pop of color.
Nice to see you aquascaping. It had been a while, but well worth it!
I appreciate what you do my friend. You have inspired me so much. I've posted my first tank and shrimp colony inspired by your videos.
This one’s pretty beautiful, keep up the good work!
Just built my first two terrariums thanks to you. Sliànte!
Enjoyed watching this process and the tank looks fantastic!
amazing set up and guide. you're one of the best.
Fantastic! You're creative flair is always on point! ✌
I absolutely loved the hard scape on this one!
kuhli loaches would love all the crevices created by the hardscape and the plants
Masterful effort on all levels.
you're so good at what you do! such great plant diversity and texture achieved! thank you for doing what you do, with such skillful passion, and for sharing :) really enjoyed this scape
Wow, it’s just so peaceful and lovely!!
Have never been a huge fan of danios, but I think these gold rings just changed my mind
Danios are awesome!
BEAUTIFUL tank, EXCELLENT NARRATIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wowzers that was an amazing start to a tank!!! Definitely want so see a trimming!!! Do you fertilize?!?! Great work!!! Love the painted back!
I add root tabs for the crypts and lilies.
Why are you screaming?
Looks incredible you've got an eye for creating natural beauty
I had a lot of fun watching it. One of my favorites
Very well designed it’s great. I wouldn’t have put the crypt in there. I use that one as well and often it’s runners are found. You should put a bamboo shrimp in there. I suggest the blue one.
I really like that tank and those little fish are perfect in there.
How about some
"Moskitorasbora brigate"
They wood bring a really nice red touch in to the Scape
🐟🐠
I also hold them together with "Mikrorasbora Kubotai"
Gorgeous! I really wanna get into aquarium planting after watching your videos
Lovely piece of work Tanner.❤👍🏼
