I am 73. Have literrally seen it all. Was at Woodstock, saw Hendrix 5x, Cream, Blue Cheer, Pink Floyd, Pantera, Sepultura, Bowie, Mahavishnu Orchestra, Magma, Meshuggah, Sun Ra Orchestra, Led Zeppelin 5x in 1969, etc etc etc. 100s of live gigs since 1964. Jinjer is in a league of their own.
Jinjer is a very special and unique band. They are in a league of their own and have developed their own genre IMO. I'm a 50 + year old rock musician and since '18 Jinjer is my favorite band from this century. I saw and met Jinjer in '19 on their first US headlining tour. I took my 20 + year old daughter. Jinjer are among the best live bands I've ever seen. 🤘 💙💛
agreed... i haven't had a favorite band since soad, deftones, korn, tool,nirvana metallica, prodigy... so as you can tell 2000 or so...it's been 2 decades... then jinjer came along
Dude, I'm a 60 yo punk/metal drummer and can't agree more. This is the most excited I've been for a unique sound since Mr Bungle in '89. Everything about them and their writing is ecstatic, raw, beautiful and interesting. Fascinating band.

Good choice. I just add few details for better pick: - Judgment (& Punisment) - one take vocal performance by Tatiana (way better then OMV) - Pit Of Consciousness - live in Kiev (a bit better then OMV) Actually the band has approx. 20+ "must hear/see" songs. So you can make another 4-5 attempts for Jinjer easily :) It's a band with a 10+ years history so you can even pick the songs from their different periods. You didn't hear oldschool Jinjer yet, it's different but pretty dope. Tatiana as a tomboy with dreadlocks all the way :)

Home Back was about the Russian invasion of the Donbass region of Ukraine. So I'd say it hits just as it was supposed to hit in 2019. They are still homeless, as many ukrainians are. The aggressor is the same, the war today is merely a continuation of what Home Back was about

Everything is so synthetic and shallow these days and it's wonderful to see the passion , skill and power JINJER displays and you are right about Tatiana but they are all metal deities in my book. You say this isn't music you ever would have pursued listening to, and I soooo get that. I'm a lot older than you and have found that I love music from virtually every imaginable genre, and yet something in me gave metal a miss generally speaking. But there is a well- known reactor that kept popping into my feed with Jinjer, and after months I finally said fine, let's see. And it's crazy to me, and my friends think I've lost it, but they are my favourite band. Especially after they released the Wallflowers album. Go figure. (I especially love when metal elitists claim they're not "worthy" - maybe that's part of the answer.)

I am like you, not my style of music, but I absolutely love this band. Love Tati. I think we are being introduced to the world of Jinjer. I truly believe that they are creating a new genre of music. Even though I've been a musician since I was a kid, I was never into metal music with scream/growl harsh vocals until I discovered Jinjer and Spiritbox around the same time near the end of last year and I instantly fell in love with both bands because of their fantastic songwriting, production and musicianship and the incredible vocals of Tatiana and Courtney. I'm going to see Jinjer live at the House of Blues in Boston tomorrow night and I'm psyched! BTW, I love your reactions!

It is always such a joy seeing people discover something exceptional! At least because it just does not happen so often) And you know what is as exceptional as this band - Devin Townsend. His range and vocals sometimes blast away, like literally. Also has such a personality, that makes him stand out as a showman) Don't know how many comments you got about reacting to him, but usually they go along with the comments on jinjer cause of the same wow-effect. So, if I got your attention right, there are 2 songs - "Kingdom" (performed for EMGtv) and "Deadhead" (also live, at Albert Hall, absolutely beautiful performance, but listen to the "Kingdom" first, just an advice))

I wanted to watch this earlier but I’ve beed slowly getting into this band and I hadn’t gotten into these three songs. After seeing them in concert back in December, I really enjoy them. -What I didn’t enjoy about “I Speak Astronomy” is pretty much what I’ve figured about them. They’re like Queen. There’s the obvious about an amazing lead singer. However, while Jinjer is labeled as a Metal band, they utilize elements of so many different styles. That last line is just amazing. -“Perennial” is epic and this performance is as close to flawless as you can get. It’s topic is quite dark but there’s an incredible beauty in it. -The beginning of “Home Back” reminded me of Primus. I could imagine Les Claypool here. -I grew up listening to Metal but, while I still liked the stuff I listened to, started listening to more Rock from the 80’sand not all that interested in the modern scene. So, I kinda get what you’re talking about when saying that this isn’t exactly your type of music. I think I would’ve passed these guys over if it wasn’t for reaction videos. -I’m still taking them in. However, some suggestions off of what I’ve taken in would be: *Bad Water(While I loved “Pisces”, this was the song that made me a fan of the group. I heard it and said,”I get it.” Specifically, check out the official live video that Napalm Records released.) *Waltz(The first song off of the 1st album with Tatiana.) *Sit Stay Roll Over(This is full-on Metal.)

It's been a while since I listened to I Speak Astronomy, such a good song. I like the metaphors in the lyrics. I'm pretty sure it's about her looking for love, and the lines "Why are you so suspicious when you see black holes in my eyes?" and "Don't discontinue this expedition when stuck upon event horizon of my eyes" is so cool. It's the idea of looking into someone's eyes and being so drawn to them that it's scary, and she's asking you not to leave her. And your reaction to that singing at the end of the song is so correct. What a voice.
Save Judgement & Punishment (one take) as long as you can. It's the video for us that are obsessed with Tatiana the Queen, but not in a creepy way. She just gives you goosebumps every time on that one. I saw them on the Macro tour so I'm slightly biased, but I could watch Tatiana all day long, incredible & truly inspiring.
I don’t care for most metal or screaming, but I am in love with this band. Not just Tati, but the boys are so progressive and talented, they were lucky to find each other. Glad they’re out of Ukraine and touring, pray for their people.💕🇺🇦💕
Yes, I've been waiting on part 2! The more you watch the more amazing they are. The guys (Roman, Eugene & Vlad) are next level and as you mentioned Tati is a goddess. I've been listening to them for over 2 years, and I am still amazed at how great they are. More live for part #3, maybe "Pit of Consciousness" live in Kiev, and "Captain Clock" at Resurrection Fest. The Song and spectacular video - Walflower. Its one of the biggest departures musically and song writing from any of their other stuff. Its very well done and think you will enjoy. Guys and girls alike, it's awesome. Ok as a 60+ year old white guy, it's been a minute since a lovely young woman looked at me like that lol. This is as close as I'm gonna get from here on out, I'm afraid. Vicarious pleasure I guess. Tati evokes the same reaction from men and women both. Once the eyes and mouth open wide in shock, and the uncontrollable smile starts, and the head starts shaking in disbelief, you know she's got ya lol. Then the lips pull back to show the teeth and the headbanging starts. That's when you know Jinjer has claimed another helpless victim. The band weaves an enticing web--and Tatiana is waiting there like a spider ready to pounce on unsuspecting prey. Man, woman, child; metal or not, Tatiana is an arresting presence who siezes your attention and will not let go. I'm fully in love with everything about this band. But Tati... She makes everyone fall in love. She's the irresistible angel/demon Pied Piper of Hamlin, the siren luring us onto the rocks. She will singlehandedly convert non metal people to aficionados of unclean gutteral growls and false cord screaming. I was never interested in it until her. She made it sexy. When I saw Jinjer live last year in Atlanta, I was surprised at one point when I looked around in the packed general admission floor crowd and realized I was completely surrounded by women and girls, all headbanging! It was a moment of realization. Women are taking over rock n roll. And it's a good thing! I love the empowerment! Oh, and Tatiana could have had anyone in that crowd lol, man woman or nonbinary! She is a goddess.

My suggestions, if I may would be " Outlander," live, "Cloud factory" live, "Who is gona be the one" live, "Pit of Consiousness",(live in Kiev or official video, equaly brilliant in their own ways) etc, etc, etc, I have been into more frumpy classical type music for decades but Jinger have opened me up to more contemporary music again. Well whataya know? Jinjer converts another normie into a metal head. I've seen them twice live, have tickets for the next show about 2 months from now. They TEAR IT UP live. Completely professional, no mistakes, sound better live than studio. This is one of the biggest bands on the planet in my opinion. Going to see Meshuggah next month, and as much as I love Meshuggah, I am using that date as the countdown to see Jinjer again. When I first discovered Jinjer about 5 years ago, I was already a hard core metal head, and to be honest, I expected my first listen to rate them as " just another" ( some of you know the reference) run of the mill metal band. Boy did I get tricked. No band sounds like them, and no 2 Jinjer songs sound the same. Best fucking band on the planet right now, and their star is still rising. Anyone who disagrees, I will fight you in the mosh pit lol. You may not listen to this style of music, metal isn't for everyone, but Jinjer has the unique ability to make metal for everyone. The big 4, Slipknot, Gojira, Cannibal Corpse, Death, Fear Factory, Slaughter To Prevail, Whitechapel, etc....none of these bands were ever able to make metal palatable for everyone, especially metal with harsh vocals. Tatiana and Jinjer have that unique quality. Metal has soooo many sub genres. I propose we add another.. We have thrash, death, metalcore, deathcore, etc. I say we need to add Jinjer core as a genre due to a sound and writing style only they have.

I like Retrospection . Retrospect look at their childhood lives and their concert touring lives. I am 57 and they revived my thirst for metal . Everything is so synthetic and shallow these days and it's wonderful to see the passion , skill and power JINJER displays and you are right about Tatiana but they are all metal deities in my book. You say this isn't music you ever would have pursued listening to, and I soooo get that. I'm a lot older than you and have found that I love music from virtually every imaginable genre, and yet something in me gave metal a miss generally speaking. But there is a well- known reactor that kept popping into my feed with Jinjer, and after months I finally said fine, let's see.
And it's crazy to me, and my friends think I've lost it, but they are my favourite band. Especially after they released the Wallflowers album. Go figure. (I especially love when metal elitists claim they're not "worthy" - maybe that's part of the answer.)

Hello. I love your reactions to Jinjer. You are absolutely right when you say that the entire band is incredible. You said at the end of this one that you’re being introduced into the world of Metal. I am like you, not my style of music, but I absolutely love this band. Love Tati. I think we are being introduced to the world of Jinjer. I truly believe that they are creating a new genre of music. Hell they brought this old cowboy in. What’s up with that?

Even though I've been a musician since I was a kid, I was never into metal music with scream/growl harsh vocals until I discovered Jinjer and Spiritbox around the same time near the end of last year and I instantly fell in love with both bands because of their fantastic songwriting, production and musicianship and the incredible vocals of Tatiana and Courtney. I'm going to see Jinjer live at the House of Blues in Boston tomorrow night and I'm psyched! BTW, I love your reactions!

It is always such a joy seeing people discover something exceptional! At least because it just does not happen so often) And you know what is as exceptional as this band - Devin Townsend. His range and vocals sometimes blast away, like literally. Also has such a personality, that makes him stand out as a showman) Don't know how many comments you got about reacting to him, but usually they go along with the comments on jinjer cause of the same wow-effect. So, if I got your attention right, there are 2 songs - "Kingdom" (performed for EMGtv) and "Deadhead" (also live, at Albert Hall, absolutely beautiful performance, but listen to the "Kingdom" first, just an advice))

I wanted to watch this earlier but I’ve beed slowly getting into this band and I hadn’t gotten into these three songs. After seeing them in concert back in December, I really enjoy them.
-What I didn’t enjoy about “I Speak Astronomy” is pretty much what I’ve figured about them. They’re like Queen. There’s the obvious about an amazing lead singer. However, while Jinjer is labeled as a Metal band, they utilize elements of so many different styles. That last line is just amazing.
-“Perennial” is epic and this performance is as close to flawless as you can get. It’s topic is quite dark but there’s an incredible beauty in it.
-The beginning of “Home Back” reminded me of Primus. I could imagine Les Claypool here.
-I grew up listening to Metal but, while I still liked the stuff I listened to, started listening to more Rock from the 80’sand not all that interested in the modern scene. So, I kinda get what you’re talking about when saying that this isn’t exactly your type of music. I think I would’ve passed these guys over if it wasn’t for reaction videos.
-I’m still taking them in. However, some suggestions off of what I’ve taken in would be:
*Bad Water(While I loved “Pisces”, this was the song that made me a fan of the group. I heard it and said,”I get it.” Specifically, check out the official live video that Napalm Records released.)
*Waltz(The first song off of the 1st album with Tatiana.)
*Sit Stay Roll Over(This is full-on Metal.)
It's so weird to watch this now after first seeing it when it came out, its impact being so different for me. The power of art. "Don't you leave us homeless" (*shudder*)

Outlander (early Jinjer, Tati in dreads); Retrospection (Live in Kiev); Wallflower (artistic and recent). Three very different performances and three very different looks for Tatiana.
My favorite comment of yours: "I need to lay down" - haha - I felt the same way the first time, after that break, when she goes into the "high belt" ending. WOW!!
It's been a while since I listened to I Speak Astronomy, such a good song. I like the metaphors in the lyrics. I'm pretty sure it's about her looking for love, and the lines "Why are you so suspicious when you see black holes in my eyes?" and "Don't discontinue this expedition when stuck upon event horizon of my eyes" is so cool. It's the idea of looking into someone's eyes and being so drawn to them that it's scary, and she's asking you not to leave her.
And your reaction to that singing at the end of the song is so correct. What a voice.
Save Judgement & Punishment (one take) as long as you can. It's the video for us that are obsessed with Tatiana the Queen, but not in a creepy way. She just gives you goosebumps every time on that one. I saw them on the Macro tour so I'm slightly biased, but I could watch Tatiana all day long, incredible & truly inspiring.
I don’t care for most metal or screaming, but I am in love with this band. Not just Tati, but the boys are so progressive and talented, they were lucky to find each other. Glad they’re out of Ukraine and touring, pray for their people.💕🇺🇦💕

Yes, I've been waiting on part 2! The more you watch the more amazing they are. The guys (Roman, Eugene & Vlad) are next level and as you mentioned Tati is a goddess. I've been listening to them for over 2 years, and I am still amazed at how great they are. More live for part #3, maybe "Pit of Consciousness" live in Kiev, and "Captain Clock" at Resurrection Fest. Also she has a one take vocal performance for "Judgment (& Punisment)" that's really cool!

The Song and spectacular video - Walflower. Its one of the biggest departures musically and song writing from any of their other stuff. Its very well done and think you will enjoy. Guys and girls alike, it's awesome. Ok as a 60+ year old white guy, it's been a minute since a lovely young woman looked at me like that lol. This is as close as I'm gonna get from here on out, I'm afraid. Vicarious pleasure I guess. Tati evokes the same reaction from men and women both. Once the eyes and mouth open wide in shock, and the uncontrollable smile starts, and the head starts shaking in disbelief, you know she's got ya lol. Then the lips pull back to show the teeth and the headbanging starts. That's when you know Jinjer has claimed another helpless victim. The band weaves an enticing web--and Tatiana is waiting there like a spider ready to pounce on unsuspecting prey.
Man, woman, child; metal or not, Tatiana is an arresting presence who siezes your attention and will not let go. I'm fully in love with everything about this band. But Tati... She makes everyone fall in love. She's the irresistible angel/demon Pied Piper of Hamlin, the siren luring us onto the rocks. She will singlehandedly convert non metal people to aficionados of unclean gutteral growls and false cord screaming. I was never interested in it until her. She made it sexy.
When I saw Jinjer live last year in Atlanta, I was surprised at one point when I looked around in the packed general admission floor crowd and realized I was completely surrounded by women and girls, all headbanging! It was a moment of realization. Women are taking over rock n roll. And it's a good thing! I love the empowerment! Oh, and Tatiana could have had anyone in that crowd lol, man woman or nonbinary! She is a goddess.

Best sustained note in the history of music 4:26 - 4:36!!! Sonic perfection. I feel sorry for all the lemmings out there wasting their acoustic synapses on rap, pop and all the recycled plastic garbage that passes for music. Check out Twelve Foot Ninja's 'Over and Out' video in which Tatiana contributes vocally and visually to this awesome track by an equally awesome band. Jinjer and TFN rule!!!

Well whataya know? Jinjer converts another normie into a metal head.
I've seen them twice live, have tickets for the next show about 2 months from now. They TEAR IT UP live. Completely professional, no mistakes, sound better live than studio. This is one of the biggest bands on the planet in my opinion. Going to see Meshuggah next month, and as much as I love Meshuggah, I am using that date as the countdown to see Jinjer again.
When I first discovered Jinjer about 5 years ago, I was already a hard core metal head, and to be honest, I expected my first listen to rate them as " just another" ( some of you know the reference) run of the mill metal band. Boy did I get tricked. No band sounds like them, and no 2 Jinjer songs sound the same.
Best fucking band on the planet right now, and their star is still rising. Anyone who disagrees, I will fight you in the mosh pit lol.
You may not listen to this style of music, metal isn't for everyone, but Jinjer has the unique ability to make metal for everyone. The big 4, Slipknot, Gojira, Cannibal Corpse, Death, Fear Factory, Slaughter To Prevail, Whitechapel, etc....none of these bands were ever able to make metal palatable for everyone, especially metal with harsh vocals. Tatiana and Jinjer have that unique quality. Metal has soooo many sub genres. I propose we add another.. We have thrash, death, metalcore, deathcore, etc. I say we need to add Jinjer core as a genre due to a sound and writing style only they have.
