Loved 2023 Laver Cup! Great diversity in talent and players. John McEnroe knows how to put a team together. Nobody seem to mind Team Europe was always top loaded with the icons of the sport. I mean Roger, Rafa and Novak on one team??? None of you thought that was a bit much. Of course they won.. Now times have changed and competition looks different and plays brilliantly. New youngsters playing. Likely to have Zerev, Thiem, Rune , Rudd and Alcaraz next year in Berlin, FAA, Fritz, Foe, Shelton and Cerundalo?? I mean if everyone is healthy
Nah, he hung up on team Europe. Cannot wsit to see him and Carlos play. This kid has skills. He reads the court brilliantly while playing. Bravo to college tennis for sending us Ben Shelton.
This Laver Cup highlights the word "TEAM". Euro boys sat mostly quiet, each in their own thoughts, when the World TEAM was jumping up so often off their bench. Europe lacked a leader and team unity - just 6 boys wearing the blue. With Alca, Djoko, Jannik, Medve, Tsitsi not there on the blue side shows how much more there is still in reserve, shud Björn decide he wants to win. I agree with the other comment that this was not a strong year of the Cup. Role of the Laver Cup in tennis?Until this yr the players have been bigger than the event. The event needs to grow to be bigger than the players - benchmark Ryder Cup.
Disagree… If one listens to audience, They loved the play . ..Red team was young but one it. Fritz and FAA back. Fritz played one matvh and won, by was not leader in true terms/John McEnroe, but leader was comraderie if red team where all were equal and supporting. Truth be told FAA was in slump, but he has beaten, Roger, Rafa and Novak, as well as Sinner, Tsitsi, Berettini,Rudd, Rune. Rublev . He has not beat Medvedev and not sure about Zerev. Meaning he and Fritz are tops, Foe, Cerundolo and Newbie Shelton were terrific.I think Fils and Fokina should have played a doubles or partnered Hurk. Monfils is great guy, but not the format for him.Rudd is great as was Hurk. Not sure what happened to Rublev, except he hates to lose. Qualities of matches were fabulous.I do think the number of Players of color winning was not welcomed by some who are usedto all white teams winning. Its a reality. But thinks Laver, I have bern re watching highlights. Which we could watch full matches again. Dio you make them available on any of the streaming sites? I would buy!!!
This was a weak edition of Laver Cup, the European team was basically B-team of Europe. But it's definitely a big confidence boost for Shelton who has the potential to break into top 10 next year. I expected him to win the singles matches, but didn't know he was so good at doubles as well. Exciting player and a potential big rival for Alcaraz in the next decade. I also wonder if this competition will help FAA to finally get some form and defend at least half the points he had in last year's indoor season. He's had a terrible year so far.
It was E or F team at most. You get to top 10 through consistency and hard work, not as easy as having 2 season highlights in 2 slams in the case of Shelton. He'll probably get humbled very soon.
@@Mbetman Shelton only needs three or four good runs at Masters and Slams, plus doing well at some smaller events, and he is there. Sure he can add some 3000 points to his name within one year, like Rune or Sinner did over the last year. Both of them won just one Masters title and had a few GS quarter finals and they are in top 10 already. Although Rune is likely to fall off the top this autumn, he's struggling with his back and has many points to defend in November. The hard thing is not getting there but keeping it. Shelton will get humbled by some hard defeats for sure (and he needs it, otherwise he won't grow as a player) but that doesn't mean he is not going to crack the top 10 soon. E or F team is an exaggeration and you know it. It's true most of the top 20 players were missing and there were some weird nominations like Fokina (I guess they wanted to have a Spanish guy in the team, but he is pathetic), Fils who is not there yet and Monfils who doesn't even know it's not an exhibition event. But Rublev and Ruud are solid top 10 players and if they played more singles matches, it would be more even from the start. Also Hurkacz is one of the best single players doing doubles, although he messed it up in the last tiebreak. Hope for a better Europe team next year.
nice to see the sportsmanship after the match between the two teams!

the biggest problem is that team europe is just singles players. cant play doubles for shit

Laver Cup Absolutely Brilliant Addition to da Tour.. Ben S & T.F 👍..
I miss old Laver Cup..
Well, when Team Europe is missing Djoko, Nadal and Federer, they are bound to lose, right ?
Just testifies to how dominant those three have been. Though all 3 were present last year and they still lost...oh well
Alcaraz, Zverev, Medvedev, Tsitsipas; LMAO, just a mediocre line-up here
