    It also helps to slug his ribs. Once you put the pressure on the ribs, he'll have a hard time getting in the deep breaths needed to pressure you. Generally, it slows them down pretty quickly.

      Unless he's use to taking power hits to his gut. My coach (Coach Portland Pringle) a professional MMA fighter/ Boxer always hits the people he trains 100 times in the gut so they get use to that pain. So if his coach does that then if someone hits him there thats not as powerful as his coach it prob wont faze him. So best thing to do is slip/ roll under and counter with a hit to his chin

    Sometimes you gotta fight fire with fire. But if you have the skills, you can avoid his aggression easily. Fire back and move.

  • @expertboxing

    Exactly! If you're a trained fighter and you know what you're doing, the jab will work. But if you're a beginner and panicking under pressure, you might as well just throw your hard shots. Brawlers are looking to trade and you're going to lose the exchange if all you have to offer is the jab.
    The bottom line: you need to have more skill if you want to beat a harder punch with a lighter punch. (ie. using the jab to beat a cross/hook)

    Hey Johnny, huge respect. Einstein said: "If you can't explain something in a simple way, then you just don't understand it" (Im paraphrasing a bit). Anywho, what I mean to say is - there are questions that my subconsciousness have posed me over the course of my boxing training, but my consciousness haven't formulated yet. You manage to define these questions in a simple manner and give a proper answer. You are a great teacher, a savvy boxer and a good person. Respect! Konstantin from Bulgaria.

    that's probably one of the better instructions I've seen on this subject. aggressive fighters aren't easy to defend against even though they all do the same thing. When you head is at risk or your ribs, they can really throw you off your game.

    Johnny!!!! I have watched a few fights and have noticed a recurring pattern. Fighters seem to lean back, breaking one of the unwritten rules in boxing when faced against pressure fighters. My question for you is.... Do you advise against it or is there anytime when it could in fact be useful?

    • @expertboxing
      @expertboxing  9 лет назад +3

      It can be both useful and also a mistake depending on when and how you do it. It takes experience to know when to use it.

    Good lookin Johnny, although I thought you were going to touch on using angles and lateral movement and turning the aggressive guy around. How would you suggest fight an aggressive, cast-iron chin, tough body puncher say like a Julio Cesar Chavez Sr? May be with slick movement and counters (Sweet Pete) or overwhelming him with flurries and standing his ground (Meldrick Taylor), or perhaps another idea?

    Awesome vid - I have a question though. As a counter puncher, it's convenient when I'm up against an agressive fighter who's constantly moving in on my punches as I stay on his outside. But what strategy would you recommend if I'm up against another counterpunching, out-fighter who only moves when I do/stays out of my range?

  • @expertboxing
    @expertboxing  11 лет назад

    All of those are good tips, but just not realistic for beginners. If you've got angles and lateral movement, you can pretty much fight anybody. Julio Cesar Chavez Sr was a great boxer himself. I'd say he was pretty much unbeatable in his prime. Fast flurries is never a bad idea, though.

  • @expertboxing
    @expertboxing  11 лет назад

    Many of the people asking me for tips against an aggressive opponents are noobs. And the techniques you mentioned are way too advanced for beginners. Telling them to stick their hand out leaves them terribly exposed. The shoulder roll works if you're really comfortable with fighting and don't break under pressure. If you're comfortable, all those things come natural.

    oh but the most important, maybe u already know, is there is no set routine. u practice ur moves then adapt to the situation. where ever ur opponents body goes, where ur body is, what ever. no set routine. thats what the boss means when he said 'be water my friend.'

  • @TheBriRu
    @TheBriRu 11 лет назад

    aggressive boxer usually run! into you.. so if they throw 3 straight shots they kinda run with the shots.. so the most effectiv weapon is the uppercut.. the best way to do so is throw a jab if he walks into the jab... amen.. if he slips to the side go with the uppercut.. he's gonna feel it..
    most important thing is moving.. don't run.. throw u'r punches and move to the side.. the time he needs to look for u...u can reset and throw another combo..

    What is a fancy combination? Combinations are just what they are. Nothing fancy about them. There are ways of breaking a bully down. You have to use alot of movement's and angles, pop shots and etc. Yes some of them are in great shape but what fighter isn't. When you break them down, he'll be ready to go in 7 to 8 rounds.

  • @jhowardsupporter
    @jhowardsupporter 12 лет назад

    well man, from what i no, if u hit em under the jaw (uppercut) hard it'll till their head back n put em off balance, n having ur oppoent off balance is very good, then u can hit him in the jaw hard, try to make a 45 degree angle on the straight hits. theres so many good things to do, like if he turn side on for what ever reason, kick him full power through the back of the knees (u want his knees to be straight 4 max effect) then hook him full power with the opposite hand in the jaw. SoManyThing.
