Shame. I heard or read that Third Mrs Kelly had never heard of Gene before meeting him. And yet she pushed his “old family” children etc away. She’s become a self-described authority, writing a book, I believe, and touring. Wonder how she answers questions about his life’s work. Just the fact that she took over whatever life he had remaining and claiming authority for his entire career sickens me.

Gene Kelly was a true professional at everything he ever did. Gene Kelly in his earlier years attended one church service where I was in attendance in Sacramento, CA. RIP Gene.

Gene Kelly was a great athletic dancer.
But Fred Astair was a grace personified dancer. He made it look so simple.

His third wife supposedly had never heard of him and his legacy. She also “pushed his old family” away according to his son Tim.
She has established herself as his philosophy etc and making a dishonest living never having experienced what we loved about Gene’s rise to well deserved stardom. SHAME on her: she knew nothing about his families and fabulous dancing, choreography, directing, acting, skills in advancing American musical entertainment. BOYCOTT her scheduled appearances. Only those who worked with him during his amazing lifetime deserve all the praise we still show him. And watch the 1985 AFI lifetime achievement award show honoring Gene Kelly. Those attendees and we fans know and appreciated him.

Danke !

To the narrator on this video, you mis pronounced the French actress Leslie Caron as
Leslie "Karen,"..it is actually pronounced Leslie "Kuh-Rone."

= I loved Gene Kelly’s dancing, but I didn’t cry when he died as I did when Fred Astaire died-Fred is my favorite Hollywood dancer to this very day.
= Rogers & Hammerstein was pronounced Hammerstine
= Homage is a French word, so it’s pronounced O-mawj

Kelly beat out Jerry Lewis for the lead in Singin in the Rain. He stole the lead in An American in Paris from Oliver Hardy.
