    52mm classics are my absolute jam right now. I love how nimble it is. I’m really liking them. May try a bigger size classic next.

      Same- loving the nimbleness and responsiveness right now.

    Been on Classics for years. Loved them but after trying the tablets I really liked the wider riding surface better. Also the lock was on point.
    Then I trying to learn crooks and realized that the sharp edges on the tablets are holding me back. So I switched to the radials and boy those wheels are great. After your review i switched to the nomads but they just felt to soft. Got them on a bad weather setup now. Perfect when it's getting a bit wet and stuff.
    Next wheel is gonna be the Loopholes square shape. They look like the tablets but with a slidely rounder edge. I looking forward to ride something different than spits..
    Keep it up Bro !

      Thanks my g! The crook struggle makes perfect sense. Maybe I’ll gave the radials a try next!

    $35 wheels that cost the equivalent of roughly $75 here in Europe 😂. Then again most high end wheels do go for around $60 but Spitfire is the most expensive for sure.
    I really like the Formula 4 101A Classics. I’ve had them in 50mm, 53mm and 55mm. The 50mms are really light and nimble but perhaps a tad on the small side. Still really like them though but you can forget about the really rough ground on those I find. The contact patch is tiny. 55mms are bulky as hell and weigh quite a bit but can handle rough terrain a lot better. I find the 53mms to be a happy medium although I could have gone for the 52mms as well. I just happen to like orange which is the colourway of the 53mms.
    Overall the 101A Classics are really slidey which is good in a lot of ways but I feel the same about skating a slick skate park especially when there is some transition involved. They definitely don’t grip that well in these instances.

      😳 Wow I had no idea they were so much more! I would want to make sure I got my money’s worth for sure. I’ve always been curious about larger wheels but every time I try them it throws off my pop timing. I’m also blessed with having a nice skatepark and flat ground so i don’t need to worry about the terrain too much. I always appreciate your informative comments my g!

      @@Skatebetter it is what it is. Generally things tend to be 30%-60% more expensive. Wheels generally cost more though.
      I mostly have acceptable ground round here except for the largish amount of different sized pebbles that are strewn about the roads. But some is so rough it’s not really skateable on a small, hard and skinny wheel.

      @@Skatebetter I hear you about the pop. Recently been on 149 52mm Thunder Hollow Lights and 52mm wheels. Then have set up a board for going to work with 139 55mm regular (and heavy) Indies with 3/8” risers and 60mm Kryptonics wheels and as I tried to ollie it I first couldn’t understand why I sucked so much. Only about 110 grams difference on the trucks alone and whatever else those chunky wheels also added and then 13mm higher board than normal 😂.

      @@RikRiorik i can only imagine what popping on 60mm wheels is like 😂😭

      @@Skatebetter don’t forget the 9mm risers on a 55mm high truck 😂! That’s a lot of ’ooomph’. Seems I forgot something myself the board was actually 3(trucks)+9(risere)+4(wheels(8mm divided by 2 to get the height and not just ad the diameter))=16mm higher. Phew.

    try a pair of radial slims, heard they were a great compromise wheel between something like a conical and a classic

    Spitfire needs to make a wheel with rounded ends like the classic with a wide ride surface. I used the og classic spitfire wheels 54mm (more grippy than F4) and recently switched to Kader Radials 57mm (more slick than og) and find the classic shape is the best for turning and having that loose cruising feel. I’m not a fan of the conical shape because I don’t like how they cone out, they end up looking like penny board wheels

    • @Skatebetter
      @Skatebetter  2 года назад +1

      I agree- i love a rounded wheel with a bit more riding surface- was hoping you would like the radials because they seem like an in between but i digress, lol.

      @@Skatebetter radials are good, but the turning the the biggest difference I noticed compared to the classic shape. It has only been a week of skating though, i need to put some kilometres on the radials to see if i got my moneys worth

    hey bro i have bones stf 52mm 101 wheels and they are good but defo not slippy as i thought it would being 101. im looking at 99 spitfire classics now in white 52mm so thats why im here. also i dont know if u noticed but ur skating in them shoes must be uncomfortable because they did not look like they gripped the board well with most of ur tricks until u was wearing them adidas. ive experienced same thing especially with leather skate shoes until its worn down. suede shoes are the best and as i can see them ones u were wearing were suede. they kinda reminded me of the janoskis and i hate them because they are vulc and too skinny footed for me. i skate nikesb dunks for life. cupsole for life.

    • @Skatebetter
      @Skatebetter  2 года назад

      100% the sole on those NB soles wasn’t grippy as the adidas Copas. I also am more drawn to suede lately and cupsoles as well for the more consistent flick and impact. 👌🏻

    The issue with the wheels getting so dirty is bizarre. It's one thing to have certain compounds discolor quickly but can't remember ever encountering a wheel grabbing so much dirt.

    • @RikRiorik
      @RikRiorik 3 года назад +1

      They do get quite dirty for sure. I don’t personally mind really but when I compare to a set of Bones STFs I have the difference is real. Not only that but they tend to want to hold onto the dirt more too whereas the Bones will let go of the dirt more easily. Like I rolled my Bones on out plastic floor just yesterday and the wheels cleaned up a lot. Not so much with the Spits.
      Still prefer the Spits though.

    My new favorites are Bones Lock ins, they have the flat edges to help you lock in on grinds but they aren’t super fat or wide, cause I don’t like wheels like that
