    Pick up choice is so key when looking at the two solos - you've really got those nuances right - bravo

    There was a changing of the guard occurring during this tour and Dickey was really stepping into his own. In my humble opinion, here he takes a big step forward and actually blows Duane off the stage. I get sad thinking about what could have been if Dickey's song writing prowess was coupled with Duane in the years following. YOU SIR ARE AN AMAZING GUITAR PLAYER. Blue Sky is my favorite song of all time. It will be played at my funeral. So grateful to have Derek to carry the torch. Keep jammin brother.

      Indeed Dickey truly displayed his full drive in this solo. I think both duane and dickey have their own approach towards blue sky and they each captured their own ideas of blue sky perfectly. And i appreciate your compliment

      I only agree partially with you… no changing of the guard as Duane had gotten (relatively) clean by this point and was still achieving new heights…. Dickey was just progressing also. Have you heard Duane’s solo here?!? It’s amazing. No way he was blown off the stage! Two great guitarists. Duane was more diverse, and adventurous, he’s still my favorite guitarist of all time. But Dickey is near in my opinion.

      ehh...it's also Dickey's tune, and Duane takes the first solo, so musically, this isn't a pissing contest, it's about being complementary, and letting Dickey shine and climax the improv section.

      Well, there is 7/7/89 in Philly. Dead play Loser. Not nearly as complex. But the power, set up by the jet engine of an organ... whoa!

    I am a huge Duane fan but Dickey was really catching up in 1971. Imagine how they would have continued to push each other to new heights. I love Duane’s rhythm on this solo and how he is pushing Dickey’s solo with his selfless rhythm guitar.

    • @syd3610
      @syd3610  Год назад

      Yeah they really started to push each other harder by that time, its unfortunate that it lasted for such a short while though. Both duane and dickey's rhythm playing in this song is amazing, the way both their rhythm blends with each other's solos and also compliments it beautifully. Creativity and virtuosity at its peak

    In the enchanting realm of the “Blue Sky” guitar solo by The Allman Brothers, Dickey Betts and Duane Allman weave a tapestry of musical brilliance. While my heart resonates with Dickey’s soulful notes, there’s a nuanced melody in Duane’s touch on the studio version that, in my humble opinion, gives him a slight edge. The dance of their guitars paints a masterpiece, each stroke telling a story that resonates 🎸

    Awesome Syd🎸《☆》Nice work. I think Dickey might be harder to copy than Duane. Some of Duanes solo seems like he was zoning out like a stuck needle on a record player✌️😎☯️

    • @syd3610
      @syd3610  Год назад +1

      Indeed, Duane's solos are sometimes harder to sound good while playing it because of the intense bends and all but Dickey is much more technical and its hard to learn his solos by ear too, very fast and melodic

    Not to be a correctionist but stonybrooke live in 71' Duane did 90 percent of the leads on blue sky , that's fact .

    • @gfriedman99
      @gfriedman99 Год назад +1

      There were only 2 leads. They each did one (Duane is first). How are u getting to 90% unless you mean Duane's lead was almost twice as long.
