In my case the 34 Philips 8600 OLED is only 20-25% cheaper than the 49 8900 series. I prefer to buy the 49" monitor and for gaming I still can use it as a 21:9 monitor with black bars on the side. As we have here an OLED monitor the black i black and doesn't "shine" in your face. It works just like a 34" 21:9 monitor. In the 49 you get much more usable space for productivity if you target for a 1 monitor setup. Also there are much better speakers. In my case productivity is more important than gaming, also aesthetics and a minimal desk setup. So it's a subjective thing.
If i remember it right... You can split that screen. Basicaly have one helf keep open windows for your obs and other helf play your game. I think, not 100% sure
I'm still rocking it out on the monitor, perfect besides for the auto brightness dimming mainly while gaming, I even get zero freesync/vrr flicker which is great. But the auto brightness dimming for 1-3mins every 20-45mins is annoying during gaming sessions. They need to add a firmware update that fixes the "ABL". Anyone else get annoying ABL on their 49m2c8900? I've had 2 of these, each with brightness dimming that's aggressive af.
Bananas. Fringe interest. Still cool. I commented to GN about their lastest latency vid why they don't try use OSRTT for their methodology. We will see.
why do ya reviewers leave out the kvm switch build inside and pip and pbp i use a dual pc setup i had too watch another youtuber too review the pip and pbp because you can use two devices he demonstrated using a series x on the right and ps5 on the left he showed a moc book and a windows pc being used on this monitor
I fell for the oled craze Got a oled tv and monitor and my phone is oled After 2 years they all had burn in and it drove me crazy as once you see it, you always notice it even if it's not much. I instantly switched to a neo g8 for my monitor and a tcl c93 and i got a phone with lcd also Honestly the mini led looks 90% as good as oled and the brightness is actually better. I rather have a permanent 9/10 monitor/tv Over a 10/10 which gradually declines in pictures quality over the years. After one year it's a 9/10 After 2 when you notice burn in It's a 7/10 After 3 it's a 5/10 After 4 it's a 3/10 Meanwhile the mini led is still a 9/10 which looks almost as good as oled
The fact that this has a fully featured type c port for display and power and that two of the type a ports are for fast charge makes the oled g9 seem retarded by comparison
exactly, i saved up money with the intention of buying a 32:9 oled monitor, and i was originally set to get the g9, im SO thankful to my friend who found this one instead, which is probably better in almost every single way
the issues you have identified (lack of proper supprot for such resolutions) is something i've "enjoyed" with my Samsung 49. so much so that i want to replace it with something less wise. but nothing intrresting in the 45-48 inch range. considering even LG c3.. but i'd rather get a monitor without any of the "smart tv" feastures. anything on the radar I should look for?
So, how does it perform when it displays gray shades, any artifacting like the woled do ie dirty grays? Could not use the asus rog woled because I use windows dark mode and the darker shades were showing horizontal lines through them like if it was scan lines on older crt but a bit thicker and very disturbing. Yet nobody mentions that oleds have issues with darker shades.

Thanks for this great review! I think i will pick it up if the price is good after a few months.
What would be a good price you think it will go to? :)
Great review! How does it work with a PS5 or Xbox Series X?
I guess you plug it in and the image is displayed in thee centre of the screen in 16:9 ratio

when 32:9 isnt supported well, set the monitor to just use 2/3 or half the screen, problem solved

3 years burn in warrantly provided by philips
How did you get burn in on your tv I still don't have burn in on my LG CX and I use it' alot even sometimes I forget to turn it off
49M2C8900 needs unibright with a new firmware !
The screen auto dim in SDR which is VERY BAD when gaming
Does the USB C port accept inputs from the 4 USB A ports? 🤞
Disappointing that you don't talk about any of the features of the monitor. Not all users are into gaming.

I’d recommend the monitor in the video
How about programming
I am used to three big screens so this is too small for me.

No issues whatsoever, i use dark mode on everything and any shade of grey or black seems perfectly uniform without any sort of banding
This thing costs 2x more than my whole setup😂😂
You need a better pc then mine cost £4000 more than this monitor 🤣
