I love white borders too, I personally use Lightroom Print module for borders, since I am already editing in Lightroom I don’t need to use any external Apps. It’s all within LR and white border preset can be made too
In LR print module, page setup as needed, Add white border to taste in layout section and finally print as jpg file to desktop instead of an actual print
Thanks bro - didn’t know about this
Have you seen how Lightroom supports this, even on mobile? It’s pretty cool…also allows you to choose the overall ration of the final white bordered image and whether the borders are even or asymmetrical depending on the orientation.
Whats the resolution of the white border image? I couldn’t get it to output higher than 4mp
@@MitchLally 2048 on the long edge I believe…more optimized for mobile.
Could I ask where exactly on lightroom mobile this feature is? Is it when you export or before that?
Think it is way easier to select all and just create white colour stroke (inside), desired amount of pixels. That way the frame is even or equal everywhere :)
You can definitely do this however it’s going to crop your original framing.
@@MitchLally not if you put the frame in another/upper layer :)
@@SedmogJula10 It's the same. That layer effect will apply to either outside (which will be invisible), middle (which will be kinda visible and cropping a little bit) or inside (where is completely visible but crops your image). It doesn't matter if you apply it in another layer, it's the same, part of the picture will be covered unless you unlock your background layer, enlarge the artboard and apply the stroke, which in the end is almost the same he's doing here.
Simple way is to change canvas size. Doesn't rescale image, you can choose color and size top and bottom.
Nice tutorial, also you can check a free software named darktable, import an image and activate a module named "frame" then you can chose a whole group of dimensions, and the possibilities to create your own styles and saved as presets. Greetings.
I swear we have telepathy or something mitch. the DAY I switch to Fujifilm, you post a Fujifilm video, the DAY I start adding borders, you post a video on borders. 😂
Classic 😂
Super helpful! Thanks a lot!
This is great. I like the way I do it but I wasn't aware of the actions function. Thanks!
thank you
Thank you!!!
thank you, is there a way to do the same thing but with a square white border?
I've noticed it creates a distorsion of the picture proportions...
Helpful tutorial, a keeper👍. Pls clarify one thing. When batch processing, to get correct border results must all images be the same size and orientation? Thanks.
In Lightroom (on tablet or smartphone) you can easily export and add a border (and change the size of the border).
Ueah, but it needs to be IOS device otherwise doesn't work for Android :(
When i follow these instructions, the border on my photo is black - not white. How do i change the border to white? Thanks
Hi Mitch, Thank you for the video. After adding the white border, do you do any further resizing to the image for social media? Best regards Paul
For some reason this only work before you edit the image in photoshop, but once you start adding a bunch of other layers, you don’t get the white borders anymore, is there any way around this do you know?
Needed this! Great tutorial Mitch 🔥
Do you crop in lightroom or photoshop?
There is also an easier way for nerds with the command line 😄
Hi Mitch, is it possible to implant your presets into camera raw??
Yes, you're able to import your presets to camera raw
It's a subjective, personal choice. I'm not a fan of white borders myself, with the only exception being for genuine Polaroid shots. Love your pics though.
😊
Being expressed as a percentage of the image's width and heigth, the border is uneven which is not satisfying...
If all your images are in the same aspect ratio and resolution, it doesn't matter, they will be all the same
@@fcallo the width of the vertical and horizontal portions of the border is uneven 🙄
@@rebours no it is not, get them 4x5. It won't be uneven
Ai photographer replace
this is not the right way...
whats the right way then
What do you do with landscape images you want to post to IG? Do you fit the landscape into a 4x5 canvas?
I’m posting 5x4 landscape 😁
Thanks! @@MitchLally
