Right. The old version is like an epic song it should be especially in this bridge. While the new version is more relaxed make you wanna sing along easily.
I prefer the first one. You can hear the desperation and frustration. I love the impression of a 'desperate but hopeless love' that it has. The second one spunds like she's reading through her diary entry about it years later when she has moved on already.
same. that’s me especially with the fearless songs. like yes the new ones may sound objectively better but there’s just something about the rawness and youth of the old ones.
latest version is amazing too but the first one will always be my favorite. i love how it pulls you in, like you're this character that Taylor created and you're in love with your costar who has a significant other and isn't interested in you once the cameras are off...
I feel the same way. Her version just doesn't have the same desperation feel as the first one did. The original version will always be my favorite, but I'm glad that Taylor owns her masterpiece now.
I agree. Overall I think this Taylor's Version is the farthest from the original. I think it's because the mix is so layered and they rushed the song out because it was trending on tiktok
In the original one the voice is more echoed and quieter to blend very well with the melody and the heartbeat, while the Taylor's version one the melody was lower and the voice was much clearer. The original one gives me goosebumps while the Taylors version is satisfying 💖💖
In the 1st one, 1. The sub-bass is a lot wider 2. The mix on the vocal reverb is higher with a little bit longer tail (which makes the vocal feel like it is in a more emptier space) 3. The delay/echo is more prominent 4. The atmospheres have far more presence. 5. Drums have less body and the kick is lacking low end as compared to the 2nd version. 6. Orchestral elements are more pronounced and there is an absence of a guitar (I believe). 7. Tambourine is on the 3 of every bar. 8. Snare-like perc is on the 3 of every bar. While in the 2nd one, 1. The sub-bass is mono 2. The reverb mix on the vocal is lower. Also the vocal seems to have a more high shelved eq shape; Has more air and provides more clarity. 3. Delay is very less prominent (but you can still hear it if you have trained ears), 4. A lot less atmospheres/,atmospheric pads. 5. Drums are more prominent with more body and low-end 6. Orchestral elements are a bit lower in volume while the presence of a guitar is noted. 7. Tambourine sound is different from 1st and is on the 3 of every other bar. 8. Snare-like perc is on the 3 of every other bar where the tambourine is not present.
There's a comforting thing about hearing her old versions vs. the new ones... We know that the old ones were sung with her young voice and the rawness of her emotions, because she's going through all of it then. But now, her matured voice sings it in a way that's she's just retelling a story about a phase in her life that she'd survived through. Kinda like an old person fondly reminiscing their life.
The slight echo and atmospheric feel of the first one makes it sound so magical, bittersweet, yet tragic and yearning for a love you know you cant have. Whereas the second one is clearer with bit more of a force yet graceful feel. I like the first version because of that echoy, atmospheric feel that makes you feel like you're witnessing their story there with them compared to listening to her talk about it.
I like the original because it sounds faded and echoey like a dream that leaves you as you wake up. It feels like a memory that is losing its details and at the end she just wants him to not forget her . it feels so whimsical and desperate in a love stricken way where as the newer version kinda goes against this with how crisp her voice is and her stronger conviction in what she says
The Taylor’s Version is more raw. But I prefer the original. It’s very magical and perfectly blend to the point it feels like you’re entwined with the music itself in some galaxy.
The one she sounds younger and it’s not as clear and the second one she is older and it’s clearer. Tbh I like the original version better just because it’s classic and nostalgic but I still enjoy listening to the Taylor’s version
Taylor’s voice is a lot clearer in Taylor’s version & her voice has matured a lot if you compare songs form Fearless (Taylor’s version) Red (Taylor’s version) folklore, evermore, lover & rep to some of her older albums like 1989, Red, speak now etc.
Nothing's better than the originals specially when our memories and specific feelings were tied on them. Her ew versions are undeniably awsome too, but you might bejust technical this time. The songs now means different to listeners and to the singer herself.
I just want to warn you, that with the old versions you would be support the producer that stole Taylor Swifts music, if you would like to support Taylor I would recommend listening to the new ones! And I agree the old ones are also really good!
@@loulicious5882 yeah no, how is she able to get money from it when it is in scooter's hands, and also not only she wrote it but its her song with her effing own heartbeats.

Of course what happened was not okay, but to make the best out of it, I love to see the differences between her younger voice and her more matured voice. The growth between them is amazing in my opinion, and it shows how much she has grown as a singer. 💗💗
the original version feels much more sadder, the taylor version feels like she’s healed yk? like the first one is while she’s battling the ending of the hookup while the second one is after she’s healed and over it
Taylor’s Version makes me feel like she’s singing for us. She’s singing for us so we can hear her heavenly voice and make us feel we are part of the songs.
The stolen version, she sounds mad, furious, angry. All the emotions she wants to release but cannot because she's too afraid to do so. While Taylor's Version, she sounds like "yeah, my ex men dumped me and was like, "let's break-up cuz i no longer am interested in you." Of course me being the person i am, i hate conflicts so i said goodbye to the memories and let them go. Now I'm happy living with my new man."

New one is clear and breathing.
But I love old one. It's anxious, chaotic and still soothing at the same time
I just wish she'd kept the reverb effect on the lead voice track :')
there is always reverb on the lead vocal
I always liked the echo on "burning". I don't hear that in the new one:/

Ah if we're being a bit more technical than feelings I noticed that in 2014 "burning" is sung in falsetto while in the new version its sung in chest

for me there is actually something wrong with the new Taylor's Version, like they feel empty, like there's some of the production that was deleted
The first one feels like in a dream, the second one sounds more alive
The first feels like a dream and more alive. The second sounds a bit colder and less alive.
You can hear her soul singing in the original version
The original WD sounds like a girl that longs for a love. The WD (TV) sounds like a woman reminiscing her past love.
the difference in vocal power, she’s grown so much! i’m so proud of her 🥺🥺
Her voice has grown for the better
I attribute the clarity to that more than the change in production
Oh wow. In the new version her voice is even better and clearer. Beautiful
Not better but clearer
The biggest difference is that she actually OWNS her art and for that I'm very happy
The beat in the background of taylors version have two types. One beat going up and the next going down. In the older version the beat goes only up.
First one sounds like a complete song, the second one sounds like she recorded it on her cellphone as draft.
The second one sounds harsher but softer and I’m LOVING it! I can’t believe how much her vocals have matured.❤
