This one hurts. My mother got a headache, and three months later brain cancer took her. 😢 Its an insidious creeping disease that claims its victims way too young. This portrayal is powerful.

Stromae is indeed a genius on almost every level. The fact he is so underrated and unknown in the anglo Saxon world is a loss to everyone in those societies.
And he uses influences from some of my favorite artist like Jacques Brel (famous Belgian singer) and Jacques Tati (famous actor and movie director) The way Stromae looks and moves on stage has similarities to Tati movies.

I'm French but I never made the parallel with Tati... Now it's evident hahaha.
Thanks for open my eyes :)

Beautiful reaction... as always. And even the Stromae songs with a catchy and happy music have a deep meaning behind (Papaoutai, Formidable, Carmen, Alors on danse...). Looking forward to watching your next Stromae reaction 😀

Hello and thank you for your reaction. Again this time Stromae plays with words in French. "Cancer" sounds like "Quand C'est?" (when it's?) phonetically. And said "Who's the next?". Deep and sad.

    This song hurts.
I saw this video for the first time just after a friend told me that his throat cancer had come back, had spread and there was no chance of curing it anymore. Spending then a few months the weekends at his place helping and taking care of him and seeing him deteriorate until he was skin over bone and died.

Yes - I feel the same way - he is a genius - a true artist! His music brings out so much emotion - this song stirs up some melancholy because of the topic - we are in awe, and have few words to describe how we feel when we listen for the first time - surprised by the sound, the lyrics and his style in each of his songs. I can relate to your reaction! I only discovered Stromae at the start of 2022 and I am finding his artistry so unique & powerful. - really so enjoyable! All his songs are WOW - each production is different and awesome. Some are happy light songs and some touch your soul - this one is the latter. I wish I spoke French to better understand his music and I really appreciate the English subtitles. I am becoming a big fan too. Would love you to review more of his earlier songs such as Ave Cesaria, and Carmen (lighter, songs) and Tous Les Memes (notice the male and female perspective in the video) and Papaoutai - would love to see if you understand the message in each one. ENJOY!!!!!

I'd like to see your reaction to a song of Loic Nottet, the Little Prince of Pop. He is belgian, like Stromae and he is a young songwriter of deep songs, he sings in english but his most beautiful song is in french. He is a contemporary dancer too. His most famous song is Million Eyes but every song is incredible, look at the mv of : Mud Blood, 29, doctor or Candy, a short musical! His voice is androgynous and powerful and his cover of Candelier was viral few years ago. His song in french is 6 minutes long and is very, very touching and sincere. The name of the song is Mr/Mme.

yes stromae is a true genius^^ . And as a french , I can tell stromae is a proffessional of wordplay , in evry song he make wordplay impossible to translate ... same the translation I see on this video is not good. for exemple "Quand c'est?" = when it? but sound like "quand c'R" (cancer)... so many details foreigners cant hear... (sorry for my bad english^^) & ty for your reaction on this genius :D!

sometimes i almost feel sad for non french speaking people. Yes you get the gist of what he says in the translations but believe me, you miss out on a lot of the poetry and the refinement of his texts. he plays a lot on words, especially in this song. The first time I heard it, it took me to get almost to the end of the song to understand the song was about the disease. The way he plays on the words "cancer" and "quand c'est" in french, is quiet smart

It may be a little too long for a reaction video but I strongly suggest you too to go and watch his amazing 2015 concert. It is on RUclips with subtitles: ruclips.net/video/eOZLDQm9c2E/видео.html
edit: And it won't spoil you the music videos.

@@MerchantOfAlba That concert is a epic must see experience. Stromae live only elevates the bar he sets on his records. I saw him preform that show 3x and each of them was magic in its own way. And as said above, the You Tube version is fully subtitled. You could maybe do the reaction in 4 parts or so... People will watch it no matter how long it is.

Stromae is fascinating, another as fascinating artist : LoÎc Nottet, each of his songs is so deep, "Million eyes" and his first song in french (he is Belgian too) Mrs/.mme (it means Mister/Missis) is already a classic
