I feel the opposite.
I love this movie so much, and this is my favorite Jack Black’s movie. I love him in this. And the reason why I love their story more is because she’s not even mentally thinking about dating men so even though they feel a connection on their first meet cute they’re not even thinking about it because she’s 💔 and he’s in “love” more like infatuated with Maggie.
But they have such a connection that a friendship begins. By her telling Jasper off and him realizing how Maggie is not good person for him. So at the end we see how they still want to keep seeing each other. I don’t know, I just have always loved their story more.
Me too, I love their storyline much better.

Also, my favorite scenes are when Cameron Diaz meets Jude Law’s daughters. They’re so precious. But maybe the best part is when Law tells her that he’s a widower and Diaz’s first response is to glance at the girls with sympathy. That single moment spoke volumes about Diaz’s character.
The cut from "cost of living crisis" to "MR BRIGHTSIIIIIDE" absolutely took me out I had to pause and wait till I could breathe 🤣🤣🤣
The Holiday is probably Nancy Meyer’s masterpiece.
“SOMETHING’S GOTTA GIVE,” with Jack Nicholson & Diane Keaton is great as well!
Final comments. With the possible exception of Kate Winslet, all of them have professions that lend themselves to doing their jobs remotely. And, even I, a n older straight guy, recognize Jack Black’s charm. I think he and Kate Winslet could make a long lasting couple.

Well actually I know of lots of fantastic relationships that are like Kate and jack, in fact relationships that start as friends are usually the best and long lasting cause it not just about sex. They are fantastic friends. After the rush of sexual attraction fades what do they have. Being friends is vitally important to a long lasting relationships. Everyone I know says they were best friends first that’s why lots of relationships end cause lots mostly around sexual attraction.
Sooo kate and jacks is the most healthy one of the two.
Strongly agree with you, but just one thing: not everyone who says "I'm going to marry my best friend" is telling the truth. A true friendship between a man and a woman that could lead to a romantic relationship takes time (especially if one or both of them are heartbroken), tolerance, sympathy, sincerity, vulnerability, sharing sometimes calm, sometimes fun, and sometimes sad moments, and a lot of emotional intimacy.
I love this movie ♥ The story, not just of love, but of personal growth from Kate's character. The group of old Hollywood friends she gains is heartwarming and creates a feeling of nostalgia. I think that's one of the reasons we don't get an earlier development of Kate & Jack's relationship. The other is he's in a relationship already, so theirs is a blossoming friendship. I totally get what you're saying though, we want Kate's old love to be "out-hunked" by her new love. But I'll allow it for the sake of the movie. Awesome movie, and very re-watchable. And if you wanna see Rufus in a movie before he began playing largely "bad guy" roles, try Cold Comfort Farm. It also stars Kate Beckinsale, Stephen Fry, and Ian McKellen. ~Caroline

I understand how Americans tend to chop the English language in words that are mispronounced however not all and I prefer to say names or words as the way they should be pronounced, so were not all in one category or sterotyped 💛

I am not fond of Cameron Diaz and Jude laws romance because it's so unrealistic but late and Jack's it is.

I love this movie because I relate to both women: my personality is like Kate's but my love life is like Cameron's!
And if I had to choose between Rufus Sewell and Jack Black, I'd go with Jack!

I definitely root for the chemistry between Jack Black and Kate Winslet, but I definitely enjoy the sizzling chemistry between Cameron Diaz and Jude Law. I couldn't agree with you more in regards to Kate Winslet getting Jack Black as her love interest. I like to think of him as more of a sorbet, a palate cleanser for Kate to remove Rufus from her life and finally get to see how she deserves to be treated. If they ever made a sequel to this movie, maybe she will have moved on to someone she has better chemistry with, like Leonardo DiCaprio!
