How To Maintain a Lulzbot Taz 5

- After 8 months of daily 3D printing, I decide to show my Lulzbot Taz 5 some TLC.
In this video I clean out the extruder head, replace the nozzle and hobbled bolt, and swap the extruder body.
In all, this took about a day to get everything back together and printing again. Links to spare parts can be found on the Lulzbot site or my Thingiverse page.

going to come back to this.... before I come at my taz 5 with the ten pound sledgehammer.
Ok, let me know if you need any help... I've run my 5's as my main printer for a few years now with few issues (apart from my own id10T errors).
@@3DPT For some reason I am only just getting this, got it all up and running, just had to do some work on replacing the nozzle, and some fuzes.
Very helpful video, i was having issues with my nozzle. However, I need to find a new nozzle, are there any you would recommend?
With the amount of printing I do I upgrade to a hardened steel one after the original brass wears out. Steel last about a year, while I've changed out brass after 4-6 months. As long as it's designed to fit your hotend you should be fine. I don't have recommendations because I've only bought 1 pack of steel nozzles... It's not a major consumable for 3D printers, so a pack of 5-10 nozzles will last you a long time.
If I am not mistaken Eagleknot2 the nozzle torque should be 30 inch pounds not foot pounds? Cheers.
Correct, 30 in/lb
Can I ask who much you make after 5hrs of print time to sell the beads on Etsy? I've been debating on breaking into a different market for selling 3d printed parts but havn't seen enough date yet to know it its a feasible option for me or not.
you'll have to decide what you can afford, I try to make fidgets that I can print 2-3 units within an hour to make it worth an hourly rate of $10 / hr labor. The market for home printers will be in small batch production and custom design work in my opinion
We all appreciate the effort, however you have some spelling errors and your video get's cut off at odd places. Was your hobbed bolt wore down with all the exotic filament? I know it can be rough on equipment, especially the nozzle but I never imagined it would wear down the hobbed bolt. Just curious, thanks for posting.
+10john01 yes, the hobbed bolt was worn down from the abrassive exotics as well as the heavy use of my printer. I've been printing daily for 7 months with this printer. Sorry about the rough cuts, something was wrong with my computer, it took 2 tries to get this video up.
focus would have been nice...
Dude. 13:35 Your home hits your build plate. You have the Z stop too low. You can clearly see it hitting the build plate and depressing it which it should NEVER do.
yeah, taz 5's need auto leveling. I printed a holder for a caliper and I'll have to do a video on that some time.
