A bit off topic, but I do like the subtle references to Need for Speed III Hot Pursuit in the festival playlist. One of the challenges in the weekly Forzathon is “Hot Pursuit”, a reference to the Diablo being the cover car for NFS III Hot Pursuit. One of the event labs in the playlist is titled “Atlantica” which is an iconic NFS III Hot Pursuit track in the game. While the event lab track is not an exact replica, it does give that Atlantica vibe that was so iconic in the game. Kudos to the developers for paying tribute to a classic 90s Need for Speed game.
I find the FTO to be a decent car in A Class. A fully upgraded stock FTO engine is just over 400 horsepower. I went with a fully upgraded engine and race suspension but skip the weight reduction and put sport tires on it. It’s actually quite decent handling wise, with the default tunes. I think adding weight reduction and adding more power on a FWD car causes more wheel spin, as there is less weight pushing down on the drive wheels, which reduces traction.
Nick just sucks at tuning/optimizing cars in this game. I never trust him every time he says a car is bad or mid because of his lack of skill, or skill issues, if you will.
I dont know if you can call it production engine, but the V6 in the Auto Union 1000SP was actually smaller. It was a 1280 cc two stroke engine, and only 50 of the more than 6000 produced 1000SP's were fitted with it.
My close friend had an FTO back when we were in high school and he blew up the engine, dropped in another, and blew that one too!! Haha man that was a fun car though
I feel this thing had potential, my favorite memory of this car is back in gran turismo 2 days and the Mitsubishi Taeivon Trampio FTO (JGTC) '99. This car could've borrowed the engine and body kit from that and imo been the star of this whole season.
