- Time for some old school hard rock, from Seattle, Q5 a band I had never heard of Q5 actually had Floyd Rose the OG of guitar tremelo's in the band, today we listen to Q5 Steel the Light from the album Steel the Light, this is my first ever time hearing Q5 sooooo, let's do this!
Q5 is an American hard rock/heavy metal band, formed in Seattle, Washington, in 1983 by guitarist Floyd Rose and singer Scott Palmerton who were bandmates in Seattle legend The Core. The Core disbanded, Rose and Palmerton having a number of new songs written needed to fill out a new roster.

Thanks for the kind words and I'm glad you liked the song. Much appreciated. Rock On!
When The Mirror Cracks is from 1985. The 2010 one must be a rerelease.
When the mirror cracks is amazing as well!
Yes, it is 80’s through and through.
one of my fav bands... we go way back... nice to hear them out here instead of my stereo !! (Doe baby)
I want to believe in the intro is the first time we ever heard a floyd rose tremolo. The guitarist and the writer is actually FLOYD ROSE my friend!fact of the day and the song is about the legend of Ancient Greece promitheus
Try to listen to Knightshade's song "Into Knightshade" 1991. Jonathan Scott K & Rick Pierce are the formers of Q5. Very cool one. I'm sure you'll like it. Knightshade are so great, and I recommend everyone to listen to their three albums: Dead of Night 1991, Men of Iron 2001, Stand and Be True 2008. You'll find a lot of great songs. Keep Rockin' Shane.
BTW Shane, this was my (first listen) to YOU and your channel, extremely cool stuff! Will be checking out more!
👍🏻,
in our metal discos all girls came to the dance floor with this song every time.
I'm with Jeff B, never heard of Q5 but like it. The phaser and electronic bits are interesting. Solid rocking 80s groove though. Definitely going to go find their stuff. Wikipedia page says Q5 is still playing and recording "today". I totally dug it. Another solid find, thank you Shane!
I like it. Never heard of these guys either. This is great music to lay down relax and go on a journey.
Q5 Steel the light reminds me of Crimson Glory. Their 2016 release New World Order really kicks ass!
My cousin, Dennis Turner played guitar on the newer album, New World Order.
Q5 are in my heart, they bring back very good memories
This is an underground classic from the 80s that played and stills plays heavily in rock clubs.
Actually, The album "When the Mirror Cracks" was originally released on the "Music for Nations" label in 1986. You must have been looking at the re-released version on a different label. Trust me I bought the vinyl brand new back then.
Love this band.......bought it back in 1985 on vinyl and my favorite track is Lonely Lady.....Plz check that one out....its fucking brilliant.
Only a few of the over 1000 vinyl records I had I have kept over the years. Q5's Steel the Light is one of them. The '86 album "When the Mirror Cracks" also still has its moments, but is stylistically much more commercial. The highlight of this band for me was clearly Jonathan K, the singer, whose overturned screams were later partly heard by Tesla singer Jeff Keith. Too bad that Q5 did not stay tuned.
Greetz from Germany,
Klaus
Great band, excellent album, one of my favorites. When The Mirror Cracks is from 1986, good album, I like that 80's AOR vibe. Reunion with New World Order ain't bad either.
Never heard 3rd at all used to play steel the light in. A metal cover band in late 80 s
Our rip John Anthony DJ would play this song back in the day 99.5 Kiss radio station he was the God Father of Rock Roll in San Antonio
I like the face expression of that guy
Heard this band way back in the late eighties ...cassette....the first album is great....the second album is ok....haven't heard the third one....
I still have the first album..
Second album of Q5 is one of my favourite album
Wow, totally forgot about this album. I think i bought this album and played it once or twice because it wasn't heavy enough. 2020... Digging this song. Thanks Shane
I love this record.
1984 Q5 was an amazing band. Just a heads up don’t listen to the re release copy cause the original it’s way better. Chech out TKO in your face
I always kinda considered them in the same vein as Queensryche.
Yea , their 84's album "Warning" mind-blowing too
It's a great album indeed🇧🇷🔥👍🏼🤘🏼....curiously i ordered my cd this week 😁😁😁😁😁
This was also my first exposure to these guys, or I at least have no recollection of them. This was interesting. The album art is very Journey-ish, and sound-wise I thought it was somewhere between Aldo Nova and Rainbow. I am curious about the backstory with the name...Qwho, Qwhat, Qwhen, Qwhere, Qwhy??? Or maybe the original name was Q*bert but Gottlieb put the kibosh on it (it was the early 80's after all)....I don't know, I can KINDA SORTA see a resemblance between their logo Q and the Q*bert character...it's all in that elongated part that looks like a nose.... (Loved that game, not gonna lie!)
That was a big Hit in the Sound - Berlin in West Berlin
Great band, love the band, pure gold😎🤟🇳🇴
Rock on😎🤟
Love this song, super catchy
Pull the trigger another awesome sound awesome album in my top 25 definitely 2nd album great follow up
Great Album Shane! I Have A copy and it Rocks!!!!!
Are you really my best friend? I'm surprised...
Will you be the first to react to John West(Royal Hunt)?
Sorry, but I don't believe this is your first listen of this song. You knew by miming the lyrics and the guitar parts before they came up....you little liar you.
Peter I SWEAR I am pretty good a fake guitar, fake lip sync, pretty much all fake instruments.. you gotta believe me!!
@@ShaneDiablo it's a rare talent that you have there my friend. Keep the reaction's coming You are the only one on TY that reacts to the music that I loved as a kid.
The 2010 album sucked go to 2016 lp
Awesome band. Stumbled on them three years ago In the related artists section for dokken
