I just recently subscribed to the channel & I have to say I learn more about fishing & how to fish from Ben's videos than from many of the so-called "teaching" videos on RUclips. All the product info & technique tips are first rate & it's information I can (and do) use every time I go out. I REALLY like this channel!!

I’m in Illinois and this is the first time hearing about a free ride rig. I wade a river here that’s a great smallmouth fisherie that’s fairly shallow and rocky plus nice grass. Right now it’s low and clear so it’s got a lot of slimy moss growing off the rocks so not sure if this rig would work or not but worth a try. Love your channel !!
Ben, I recently picked up a P5 Madbull, paired it with an Albebaran 50, it is by far the lightest, most balanced and overall just beautiful squarebill setup I have ever used!! I got the P5 bug now, I need more!!!

Thanks for watching man! It all depends on depth and how slow you want to present the bait. I find that the Free Rig doesn't get hung up very often, so I don't worry too much about it. The way the weight sits on your line it is very easy to pull out of rocks.
Great video. Can you fish the dolive on a drop shot? Going to HU Tackle to buy a bunch. I have never fished the free rig before, just for moving water situations, ie current, or do you fish it in lake/pond applications?

To me you hit on the way we fish from kayaks. moving to spot that are closer together. then we can move around lakes better than bank but not as good as boat. The length of rods is another topic you can hit ..kayak vs boat...
I have the Destroyer Addermine paired with a Stella FJ1000 how would the windbuster and Daiwa reel compare? Is it worth getting the windbuster since I have this combo already?

Wish you would have cut out all the parts where you pull your bait in and put it on your baitcaster. It would save a couple minutes of wasted time. Other than that nice video

OSP restocks twice a month, but No guarantee on whats coming. They only make items a couple times year so when they run out they’re out for a while.

Oh, and I'd stick with the round eye dropshot weight. that should be the easiest to come through the rocks. 1/4 and 3/8 are my go to sizes.

Absolutely! I use the 3” size all the time on the Dropshot and it’s awesome!

What line were you throwing braid and leader? What size reel?
3000 size reel, 15lb braid to 7lb fluoro

Windbuster is stronger than the Addermine. It’s better for 1/4-1/2oz stuff.
Will the 2500 size Certate LT still balance well on the windbuster? The exist might be a little more than I want to spend.

How would you compare the NRX 852S to the Windbuster?
I love both rods! The Windbuster is a little more powerful, and has a deeper bend for fishing hardbaits. Both rods are equally as sensitive
