I have always been critical of Abhishek. but this interview stands out. it needed a guy like Abhishek to stimulate Shankar. BR couldnt do it (even though he seemed visibly tired)
what a shame. he ok'd all those scenes in Indian 2 to be in the final cut. I could not believe my eyes when I saw How senapathy escaped bobby simha at the airport when he lands in india from taipei. Just taking nedimudi venu at gun point was enough and nobody was tracking them. Because for shankar following a car is by using another vehicle and going behind it. what a joke this man delivered. As a hardcore kamal fan i was devastated. Kamals movies may or may not do well in box office but it has phenomenal performances and amazing writing, dialogues. what a garbage, it was like some balaiya film. He made akamal fans watch a balaiyya film starring none other than senapathy the OG vigelante of indian cinema.

It’s been very long since we got a gd Tamil movie. For last 7 years we are watching lots goon movies, like Vikram 2, Kathi, master, Leo, Petra, kabali, and etc etc … this lokesh, pa ranjith, Nelson, Karthik subburaj etc etc etc. young directors this days are more into, vettu-kutthu and gore murder scenes. Am extremely tired of watching such repeated genre. Story based of this kind of society related movies are very rare. Infact family subject are very less. That is why Tamil audience hv jumped to Malayalam and other state movies. Telugu, Tamil and Hindi industry are going drought and bankrupt. Infact we are liking international movies these days. Korean, Japanese, French, Turkish movies are favoured. I wonder if South Indian film makers ran out of stories or failed to understand audience pulse. I revived back with maharaja movie after soooooo long. Indian 2 isn’t bad. No matter wat, I love shankar movie. My all time fav directors are balachander, balumahendra, maniretnam and shankar. No matter how the movie is, it will be liked by audience. Because they are legendary directors and prodigy movie makers. Although Indian 2 was not to our expectations and beyond reality, I am contented with the movie. At least there isn’t the over-used gangster and gory fight scenes which we are watching for almost a decade. In the name dark comedy, lots of useless movie hv spoilt our Tamil industry. Gone were the days, where we are enjoyed songs, comedy, and good knowledge in movies. Those days movies are full Nagarasan - like festival meal. Now it’s so bland and boring.

When the director get too obsessed with an ideology, may end up missing making a movie entertaining, that's what happened to Indian 2.
