- At a time when half of older Americans have no retirement savings and millions of senior citizens are living in poverty, our job is to expand Social Security by demanding the wealthy pay their fair share.
Many Seniors are already living in poverty.

The first time in my life I have seen elderly people homeless, walking down the street or trying to get across the street with everything they own hanging from their walker! I try to help them out but have noticed they are too proud and don't want a handout unless I insist. But I still cannot get them off the street! As a nurse I can tell these people are sick and have a difficult time moving. OMG will someone please do something , this is sick and evil seniors are living this way!

I see so many homeless true some chose to live that way but most have had no choice in being homeless I pray everyday for the homeless and elderly we worked hard and had ssa taken from our wages yet here we find ourselves at the brink of loosing everything and this is just the beginneg of our struggles ,I don't mean to be against the Republicans or Democrats but wanting to put a freeze on our pay hike is not right everything keeps getting higher like the food etc, they raise our checks a little bit but then snap takes away our ebt and lowers our ebt food because we got a small raise that just means we really didn't get anything because we got a little money they take away some from ebt food so in reality we got nothing to help us it stay the same ,Mr Sanders keep fighting for the social security and the elderly we need you there in Washington to let them know that we the ssa and disabled need help from all of you in Washington stop fighting with each other ad do what's right for social security SSI, and disabled we are the people who made it possible for all of you to be in command now it's time for you to help the elderly and Mr Sanders were pr9ud of you and will never forget you you seem to be the only one fighting social security SSI and disabled and elderly we need better benefits

I am a senior.The wage years ago was less then $5.00 an hour. I remember getting a little over a dollar an hour. This is why many older seniors can not live onSocial Security alone.

I believe that education--on yet another issue that has needed better attention for such a long time--is a major first step to dealing with, saving and enhancing Social Security. An Illinois native, I first learned of Bernie in 1963 from a Chicago newspaper photo. It showed a policeman helping him to the ground for marching against segregation. He was maybe 20, a University of Chicago poli sci undergrad. Way back then he was focused on All of Us ...and still is, Thanks Be. I wanted him to be POTUS, but I'm grateful his seniority has made him chairman of the powerful Senate budget committee.
It's a BENEFIT, earned through a lifetime of payroll deductions.

As a independent disabled worker I find it hard to pay my bills with the income limits that are now in place. We need to raise the income limits for those under retirement

I’ve worked my hole life until I became disabled not due to myself but due to my job. If I had received the Surgey I so desperately needed at age 27 I would be retiring from my job. Im 65 now. I paid my dues and so have many others. We deserve to be able to live in dignity not in poverty.

I was starting my own way to where I was just 15 years of age so I could go to work alongside my mother in the flower fields for 35 cents an hour, and my first paycheck was for $15.00 dollars 💵 and I was so happy I could help my mom and dad to bring home the bacon and start putting away for my own future! I was the oldest of a big family so I was glad I could help my parents. Without Social Security and Medicare all seniors will have nothing. We work our whole life paying into Social Security, then money is taken out of our Social Sevurity to pay for Medicare. Medicare doesn't pay for everything and then we have to buy additional insurance to include prescriptions, vision, hearing, and dental. In addition, I pay city, county and federal income taxes. Not to mention house payments, car payments, insurances for both of those, food, gas, etc. When will it stop! Thank you, Mr. Sanders, for your support.

I want Social Security benefits to be tax free again. Social Security benefits were tax free until Reagan, he needed a way to help pay for his tax cuts to the one percent so could cut taxes on the one percent by fifty percent. So Bernie please make Social Security benefits tax free again!
If you make under $25000 you pay no taxes on social security.

Why doesn't anyone shout out the link between the minimum wage and social security? The higher your wages, the more you pay into the program! Raise the minimum wage to a livable wage AND expand social security! This will help folks at both times of their lives!
And company owners do what they are doing now, they hire less people and expect the workers to work more or lose their jobs. Of course the ones without jobs can end up not getting any social security because they never paid into the system. Get real people lose regardless. Some of us elderly are living on less than $1000 per month, women especially, who have earned lower wages all their lives. Many of us cannot work due to health issues---cancer, disabilities, etc.. This bill, if handled correctly, would be a godsend to older folks. Thank you Bernie.

My parents died at age 63 and 68..One didn't live long enough to collect Social Security the other didn't live long enough to enjoy it. I'm 68, single and living solely off my teacher's pension. I've got wealthy people trying to push me into a Medicare Advantage plan and Senator Graham who is a wealthy man benefitting from the healthcare plan the working class have provided for him, has the gall to tell us that we should take less...but not make millionaires and billionaires. Always has, always will & we're extremely lucky to have him. The vast majority of sincere people who get into politics can't take the stress of trying to get the privileged to be decent and reasonable, so their careers in politics are very short-lived. There's something very special about Senator Sanders giving him the strength to persist despite the odds being against him on our behalf. He's a far better person than 99.9% of others. If anyone in this country was worthy of being Sainted, it would be this guy! It's a very sad state of affairs that the public had no idea who he was and voted for all the wrong people when we could have had just one POTUS in this century we as a nation could be proud of and know he was genuinely working on everyone's behalf. Education really matters & our educators are so below par, most of them are oblivious to the very Democratic Socialism that employs, houses, and feeds them, and are in no way even qualified to teach. At least not on the subjects children NEED to learn in order to actually survive. Bernie even puts things far more mildly than they actually are. Poverty is the condition many of the seniors who were able to survive live in. This nation, gloating about how the privileged live to be so old conveniently ignore the many whose backs were walked on only to end up DEAD moments after they nolonger served a purpose to the Oligarchs. Had I not been blessed with a Mom who sacrificed so that I'd have a better chance than her (while some parents make such claims, rarely is there evidence to back it up, especially amongst the Silent & Boomer generations), I'd have no understanding of the wealth disparity Sanders speaks so frequently about. One things for sure: Sanders is a brilliant man and he had some spectacular teachers, mentors, and role models. We should all be that fortunate & should want that for our kids, but the USA is a nation of complacent idiots. Still, look at that man working for us anyway! He's an incredible sight to see for sore and weary eyes. Yes, one person in Congress actually means what he says and genuinely cares. There are millions who would give up their own families in a heartbeat to be the grandchild of this man. It's very sad that so many people are so ignorant they can't distinguish between a genuine populist like Sanders vs. a complete fraud. It's bewildering. Well, people have a decision to make. I agree there is a lot of young people drawing SS nothing wrong working on the site. Those needs to be checked on some say nerves large crowds but yet go to singing big venues big crowd meetings that is no problem in my book. Needs to be followed watched closely that is a rip of. I worked till I was 70 to hopefully be able to make ends meet .in textile mill in the south Carolina.

It’s also about having to pay the individual social security retirement payments longer because the life expectancy for very few are living longer but there were lots of them that have died during the Covid-19 pandemic, what happens to their social security monies that were paid into the system?

I am in my mid seventies. My wages many years ago, was under five dollars an hour. Since my social security now was based on low low wages back then, it is no wonder we seniors need a boost in benefits.
We as Americans need to do more for our seniors and vets and disable.they did there time for this country.

I'm adding an extra comment at 65 I don't qualify for snap program and only get $685 amount after a decrease of $165 for medicare payments. Expand ssi retirement and make medicare free for all seniors not charging vhf them for it. Ty..
Without Social Security, I would be in the streets. I still struggle because it doesn't pay enough but it's better than nothing and I am grateful. I am disabled now and can't work anymore but I worked for decades and paid into it all my life. Don't take it away.

What would I do without social security benefits? Even when it’s not enough money to suffice my daily monthly needs.
Right now, the amount I get covers my rent (utilities included) mainly because my landlord isn't a greedy, money whoring bastard. Yet I also have to rely on food stamps (Bridge card). I just turned 65, have health issues - as many of us do... I'm am simply worried as to what those in power are going to do, how they think WE'RE supposed to get by.
Im 56 and so burned out with work and hard life that I can't even imagine living to age 70 to retire. I can't even afford to live that long

I turn 65 in January2023 instead of increase in benifits I got a decrease of $165 a month, that's not helping seniors its hurting seniors. I now had to go back to work just to make up what I'm loosing in benifits. That means I have work full time again as a senior.

2/6/23 now. I'm 84 now, an Illinois native, and I agree with you 100% about Bernie. I first learned of him from a 1963 Chicago newspaper photo that showed a policeman "helping" him to the ground for marching against segregation. I'm so glad that photo is still available to see on the You Tube, "Bernie and Civil Rights in Chicago." He started his public service life as the re-elected mayor of Burlington, Vermont's largest city, next the re-elected U.S. Representative in Congress for his state, now in his third term as U.S. Senator. I support you Bernie ❤I thank God that I was able to work until my full retirement age . I am just managing to live even in retirement I still feel like I’m in the work force. There is no assistance for those who has worked all of their lives while paying taxes. Financially I was in shock to learn that my retirement is looked at as income that restricts me from much needed housing and food assistance programs. My children now have to provide me with food , clothing and shelter. Thank God my health is good I’m not on medication but have to pay health premiums. Living with my children will hopefully allow me not to ever be in a nursing home where your income will be taken away totally. Continue to fight Bernie❤
