The first time in my life I have seen elderly people homeless, walking down the street or trying to get across the street with everything they own hanging from their walker! I try to help them out but have noticed they are too proud and don't want a handout unless I insist. But I still cannot get them off the street! As a nurse I can tell these people are sick and have a difficult time moving. OMG will someone please do something , this is sick and evil seniors are living this way!

Without Social Security and Medicare all seniors will have nothing. We work our whole life paying into Social Security, then money is taken out of our Social Sevurity to pay for Medicare. Medicare doesn't pay for everything and then we have to buy additional insurance to include prescriptions, vision, hearing, and dental. In addition, I pay city, county and federal income taxes. Not to mention house payments, car payments, insurances for both of those, food, gas, etc. When will it stop! Thank you, Mr. Sanders, for your support.

I’ve worked my hole life until I became disabled not due to myself but due to my job. If I had received the Surgey I so desperately needed at age 27 I would be retiring from my job. Im 65 now. I paid my dues and so have many others. We deserve to be able to live in dignity not in poverty.

I am a senior.The wage years ago was less then $5.00 an hour. I remember getting a little over a dollar an hour. This is why many older seniors can not live onSocial Security alone.
Some of us elderly are living on less than $1000 per month, women especially, who have earned lower wages all their lives. Many of us cannot work due to health issues---cancer, disabilities, etc.. This bill, if handled correctly, would be a godsend to older folks. Thank you Bernie.

@@ws775 Most of the surplus came from pay-roll deductions. The taxes on the benefits was a form of means-testing to save money. The more affluent essentiallly got less payments by the end of the day.

The vast majority of sincere people who get into politics can't take the stress of trying to get the privileged to be decent and reasonable, so their careers in politics are very short-lived. There's something very special about Senator Sanders giving him the strength to persist despite the odds being against him on our behalf. He's a far better person than 99.9% of others. If anyone in this country was worthy of being Sainted, it would be this guy! One things for sure: Sanders is a brilliant man and he had some spectacular teachers, mentors, and role models. Without Social Security, I would be in the streets. I still struggle because it doesn't pay enough but it's better than nothing and I am grateful. I am disabled now and can't work anymore but I worked for decades and paid into it all my life. Don't take it away.

Right now, the amount I get covers my rent (utilities included) mainly because my landlord isn't a greedy, money whoring bastard. Yet I also have to rely on food stamps (Bridge card). Social security received a 6% COLA increase last year when many people's rents and some commodities went up 50%. My Uncle is on SNAP also and because his SS went up his food assistance was cut.
My wife and i are both disabled and on S. S. Dis., yes it happened to us too... I could barely pay my bills before the Cola increase. After the Cola they took my $129. ebt benefits. Lowering prescription prices is great, but still do without my insulin, and other meds. Cant die, funerals cost too much.
Correction, the increase was 5.9% , making people passed their $25,000 threshold making them liable to pay now 12% to 15% taxes on their benefits. I was starting my own way to where I was just 15 years of age so I could go to work alongside my mother in the flower fields for 35 cents an hour, and my first paycheck was for $15.00 dollars 💵 and I was so happy I could help my mom and dad to bring home the bacon and start putting away for my own future! I was the oldest of a big family so I was glad I could help my parents. I am a social security beneficiary, I only get $841 a month to live on plus SNAP benefits of $206 and sometimes get a little extra at the end of the month on my food card still struggling with bills and such please Bernie do something to help us with Social Security and all them that fall under that umbrellas thank you and God bless you

I am on ssdi. I worked hard all my life. I lived well. I broke my back and can't work. I can barely pay my rent and lights. The struggle is wearing me down. I keep hearing that Social Security recipients are supposed to be getting a 200.00 amounts raise. That would at least give me grocery money. I just got a 400.00 light bill and that plus my rent I'm 200.00 short coming up in August. I have never lived in poverty until I had to depend on Social Security. I have no family left. No one to turn to for help. There has got to be a better way. Washington is sitting on money that was supposed to go to the people But instead we struggle from month to month. We shouldn't have to live this way. Inflation has caused fixed income people to not even be able to eat 3 Meals a day. This is unacceptable. It's not just seniors but also disabled. I would definitely work if I could. I had a great career. If my power bill goes any higher I don't know what I'll do. If we would go ahead an get the 200.00 raise it would help tremendously. I hope someone reads this. This is real life for Social Security recipients. Please do something to help us all.
@@robertspadaro3093 Sadly, the Flex card is only available to seniors with an participating Medicare Advantage plan. A very small percentage of plans actually offer the benefit. Second, it’s supposed to be used to cover qualifying medical expenses.
I am right there with you. Worked my tail since I was 15, at 35 I had to stop due to cervical stenosis. At 38, I lost all feeling in my right leg. $0, first back surgery (3 vertebrae cutout), 2nd and 3rd surgeries 18 month after, aortoiliac bypass at 42, 4th back surgery (4 lvl cervical, 4 fusion plates, 8 screws, 3 disc removed (cages placed)). I lost everything in 2020, so I had to start over living on SSI (and only AR medicaid (which is awful, only $500 a yr for labs). Even with the modest $216 in SNAP Arkansas gives SSI recipients, I might get to east twice a day most weeks. I, like you, have made pleas for other to help push this into the spotlight. People know we do not get as much as we should to be able to live, but it has gotten beyond that, what we are getting is barely able to be considered survival. It is definitely not living. They knew these problems were coming. Over 6 years ago, some politicians put in to start fixing this, and look what happened. smdh

The first time in my life I have seen elderly people homeless, walking down the street or trying to get across the street with everything they own hanging from their walker! I try to help them out but have noticed they are too proud and don't want a handout unless I insist. But I still cannot get them off the street! As a nurse I can tell these people are sick and have a difficult time moving. OMG will someone please do something , this is sick and evil seniors are living this way!

Without Social Security and Medicare all seniors will have nothing. We work our whole life paying into Social Security, then money is taken out of our Social Sevurity to pay for Medicare. Medicare doesn't pay for everything and then we have to buy additional insurance to include prescriptions, vision, hearing, and dental. In addition, I pay city, county and federal income taxes. Not to mention house payments, car payments, insurances for both of those, food, gas, etc. When will it stop! Thank you, Mr. Sanders, for your support.

I’ve worked my hole life until I became disabled not due to myself but due to my job. If I had received the Surgey I so desperately needed at age 27 I would be retiring from my job. Im 65 now. I paid my dues and so have many others. We deserve to be able to live in dignity not in poverty.

I am a senior.The wage years ago was less then $5.00 an hour. I remember getting a little over a dollar an hour. This is why many older seniors can not live onSocial Security alone.
Some of us elderly are living on less than $1000 per month, women especially, who have earned lower wages all their lives. Many of us cannot work due to health issues---cancer, disabilities, etc.. This bill, if handled correctly, would be a godsend to older folks. Thank you Bernie.

@@ws775 Most of the surplus came from pay-roll deductions. The taxes on the benefits was a form of means-testing to save money. The more affluent essentiallly got less payments by the end of the day.

Why doesn't anyone shout out the link between the minimum wage and social security? The higher your wages, the more you pay into the program! Raise the minimum wage to a livable wage AND expand social security! This will help folks at both times of their lives!

The vast majority of sincere people who get into politics can't take the stress of trying to get the privileged to be decent and reasonable, so their careers in politics are very short-lived. There's something very special about Senator Sanders giving him the strength to persist despite the odds being against him on our behalf. He's a far better person than 99.9% of others. If anyone in this country was worthy of being Sainted, it would be this guy! It's a very sad state of affairs that the public had no idea who he was and voted for all the wrong people when we could have had just one POTUS in this century we as a nation could be proud of and know he was genuinely working on everyone's behalf. Education really matters & our educators are so below par, most of them are oblivious to the very Democratic Socialism that employs, houses, and feeds them, and are in no way even qualified to teach. At least not on the subjects children NEED to learn in order to actually survive. Bernie even puts things far more mildly than they actually are. Poverty is the condition many of the seniors who were able to survive live in. This nation, gloating about how the privileged live to be so old conveniently ignore the many whose backs were walked on only to end up DEAD moments after they nolonger served a purpose to the Oligarchs. Had I not been blessed with a Mom who sacrificed so that I'd have a better chance than her (while some parents make such claims, rarely is there evidence to back it up, especially amongst the Silent & Boomer generations), I'd have no understanding of the wealth disparity Sanders speaks so frequently about. One things for sure: Sanders is a brilliant man and he had some spectacular teachers, mentors, and role models. We should all be that fortunate & should want that for our kids, but the USA is a nation of complacent idiots. Still, look at that man working for us anyway! He's an incredible sight to see for sore and weary eyes. Yes, one person in Congress actually means what he says and genuinely cares. There are millions who would give up their own families in a heartbeat to be the grandchild of this man. Without Social Security, I would be in the streets. I still struggle because it doesn't pay enough but it's better than nothing and I am grateful. I am disabled now and can't work anymore but I worked for decades and paid into it all my life. Don't take it away.

What would I do without social security benefits? Even when it’s not enough money to suffice my daily monthly needs.
Right now, the amount I get covers my rent (utilities included) mainly because my landlord isn't a greedy, money whoring bastard. Yet I also have to rely on food stamps (Bridge card). I just turned 65, have health issues - as many of us do... I'm am simply worried as to what those in power are going to do, how they think WE'RE supposed to get by.

Social security received a 6% COLA increase last year when many people's rents and some commodities went up 50%. My Uncle is on SNAP also and because his SS went up his food assistance was cut.
My wife and i are both disabled and on S. S. Dis., yes it happened to us too... I could barely pay my bills before the Cola increase. After the Cola they took my $129. ebt benefits. Lowering prescription prices is great, but still do without my insulin, and other meds. Cant die, funerals cost too much.
Correction, the increase was 5.9% , making people passed their $25,000 threshold making them liable to pay now 12% to 15% taxes on their benefits. Remember how Joe Biden said “we won’t raised taxes on people making less than $240,000 ? Ha!!!!!
Also, keep in mind, MediCare also went up, prescription drugs. Electricity, rent. So they money social security recipients got, it is taken away by corpamerica. 🤣

I was starting my own way to where I was just 15 years of age so I could go to work alongside my mother in the flower fields for 35 cents an hour, and my first paycheck was for $15.00 dollars 💵 and I was so happy I could help my mom and dad to bring home the bacon and start putting away for my own future! I was the oldest of a big family so I was glad I could help my parents. I am on ssdi. I worked hard all my life. I lived well. I broke my back and can't work. I can barely pay my rent and lights. The struggle is wearing me down. I keep hearing that Social Security recipients are supposed to be getting a 200.00 amounts raise. That would at least give me grocery money. I just got a 400.00 light bill and that plus my rent I'm 200.00 short coming up in August. I have never lived in poverty until I had to depend on Social Security. I have no family left. No one to turn to for help. There has got to be a better way. Washington is sitting on money that was supposed to go to the people
But instead we struggle from month to month. We shouldn't have to live this way. Inflation has caused fixed income people to not even be able to eat 3 Meals a day. This is unacceptable. It's not just seniors but also disabled. I would definitely work if I could. I had a great career. If my power bill goes any higher I don't know what I'll do. @@robertspadaro3093 Sadly, the Flex card is only available to seniors with an participating Medicare Advantage plan. A very small percentage of plans actually offer the benefit. Second, it’s supposed to be used to cover qualifying medical expenses.
I am right there with you. Worked my tail since I was 15, at 35 I had to stop due to cervical stenosis. At 38, I lost all feeling in my right leg. $0, first back surgery (3 vertebrae cutout), 2nd and 3rd surgeries 18 month after, aortoiliac bypass at 42, 4th back surgery (4 lvl cervical, 4 fusion plates, 8 screws, 3 disc removed (cages placed)). I lost everything in 2020, so I had to start over living on SSI (and only AR medicaid (which is awful, only $500 a yr for labs). Even with the modest $216 in SNAP Arkansas gives SSI recipients, I might get to east twice a day most weeks. I, like you, have made pleas for other to help push this into the spotlight. People know we do not get as much as we should to be able to live, but it has gotten beyond that, what we are getting is barely able to be considered survival. It is definitely not living. They knew these problems were coming. Over 6 years ago, some politicians put in to start fixing this, and look what happened. smdh

Thank you Bernnie Sander and Elizabeth Ward trying to look out for us on ss ssdi ssi VA rail road and anyone on government checks . It very hard for me to make my monthly bills food when up , electricity , medical , medicine , water and gas I can't make .10 cents stretch to 1.00 dollar anymore . I'm hundreds short each month
