Jr.s overview of what happened is exactly what I saw. Teammates or not, your goal is to win the race. That's what Kyle did. Chase picked the wrong position for the last restart and Kyle took advantage of it and won the race.
Disagree. Larson made a mistake. He is the one that locked up the tire. He is the one that broke way to late getting into turn 1. And his teammate paid the price. dale is spot on with his analysis. it was a racing deal plain and simple. kyle didnt go in and door chase and wreck him on purpose like so many people are acting like. chase doesnt have to be happy about it he should be mad. but its not like kyle wrecked him out.
Dale got it absolutely spot on and he mentioned something everyone else forgets about which is just like Elliot has to think who is restarting next to him and behind him, so does Kyle Larson, Kyle didn't just race hard for the win, he also did what was best for him to keep his position and to keep his driving line secure from the guys behind him.
I’m an Elliott fan, but what Larson has done is not gonna stop me from loving him a lot too. I’ve loved Larson since before he joined Hendrick. Gordon and Johnson had many moves, so did Gordon and Jr, not even just Hendrick, many other teammate rivalries. I feel like people are overreacting this, this is great for the sport, feels like the start of Gordon Vs Johnson all over again.
Chase seems like a whinny kid. He's developing a list of drivers who he has battled with and I don't believe for a second that he has felt Harvicks bumber for the last time, and Chastain is capable of car control revenge as is hamlin...
Interesting that no one is raising any red flags with the 27 spin. This isn't the first time an irrelevant car has spun late at a road coarse. Hearing how some teams use to pay back markers to cause a caution in the past. Think we need to start paying attention to that possibility, especially because of the tight restrictions on this next gen car. (Can't find an edge with the car, find an edge outside of it)
Same thing crossed my mind on that last caution. Was it deliberate? Law of averages says Chase couldn't hold the field back every time. What'd we have like 3 cautions with 10 to go?
I wasn’t thinking that it was necessarily on purpose, but a lot of the cautions involved not full time cup drivers. They weren’t always at fault for the incidences, but were involved nonetheless. So, going forward in a race like this, we might expect to have more cautions.
I just don’t like the media acting like Mr. In-Car Camera got wrecked, or raced dirty. That’s just not what it is. Chase just blocked Corey into the wall causing a huge wreck and ending his best cup race ever. Both of them said it was just racing.
Dale says that Larson would feel more protected if Byron was behind him because he's a teammate yet doesn't think Chase should've felt protected from Larson?
OK with Junior's comments on this - but there was contact between the 5 and 9 down into Turn 1.....he sort of described it as "forced" wide.....yeah he was because the 5 car ran into him.
I love Dale’s perspective. As a Chase fan, I am not happy with the outcome of the race, but I agree with Dale’s POV. Chase had every right to be pissed/upset, but Larson needed to try and get another win.
Idk if anyone else noticed but Chase won the regular season championship after the 1st stage. The person that interviewed Chase after the race didn't mention it at all. No one has said much about it since the middle of stages 1 and 2.
Post race media tried 3 times to get Chase to say something bad about the outcome, but he didn't fall for the, drama creating media's efforts. Good for you Chase.
they should stop calling them teammates lol.. It's the 5 team and the 9 team with both being allies to one another through Hendrick. Teammates mean you help others to win, but thats never the case.. Sometimes you help allies, but your number one priority is the people within your personal team.. and yourself. Other allies can know we arent going to have beef, but I'm not there to help you win. My guys depend on me to win
Spot on Jr, three of the very best going for it. Gotta do what you gotta do. Chase is my boy but it is what it is. I'm sure he'll be ready for the next one when it comes. 💙🏁💙
People want the F1 type teammate rules when they are infront aka don’t pass me, but want the let ‘em race when they are behind the teammate, can’t have it both ways
If Chase didn't have such a terrible half lap and went to work after coming out third after that 1st corner, he had the car and some time that he still had a good shot of running down AJ and Kyle and still win. Him losing the added positions ruined his chances. Probably contributed to the frustration.
@@timclaus8313 He didn't get run off out in the gravel..lol they were still in the racing grooves. Cars had run that wide all day. Wasn't a scratch on Chases car after that corner. I disagree with Dale.. in the fact that Chases car was that much better than Kyle's. Kyle raced in dirty air all day. Kyles car was good in dirty air and even better in clean air. We saw how Chases car was when he got behind cars..
@@ribbs67 No, but when you get well off the line there is rubber and other trash on the track, definitely not as clean as the preferred line used for pretty much all but the starts. Turn 1 at the Glen does get pretty wild and that far out, you have to scrub off some speed to get back in line.
@@timclaus8313 He didn't scrub that much speed.. he came out of corner# 2 in a solid 3rd position ( and 3-4 car lengths ahead) of 4th place. Then he fell back even farther. His car was great in clean air but suffered once he got behind other cars. There was plenty of time for him to run them back down with his dominant car..but it didn't happen. Fact of the matter is Larson just like Chase gets paid to race. And that's what he did. Hell it was probably one of the more " cleaner" passes for the lead than we have seen in these road course races. Chase and him are good friends on and off the track, and Chase races alot of Kyle's equipment on the dirt. Calling it a " dirty" move is just childish IMO. Chase got beat straight up. I bet he takes the inside next time.
I remember JJ used Gordon up a few defferent times, and they They weren't just teammates, Gordon got him his ride and owened part of JJ's car, you do what you have to- to win, period!!!
JR is correct and explains it perfectly. Elliott fans should hear this and settle down because this is nascar not F1 they will touch at times. Plus AJ said it wasn't dirty it was hard racing and Larson is the most badass driver on the planet.
Jr that is 1000% how a sensible race fan and person should see this. I'm a Chase Elliott fan and that's how I see it. It's on Chase too for picking that outside. I love the fact that we have some people that still have sense.
I mean when the two best cars on the racetrack are teammates. Stuff like this is going to happen. I remember Jeff Gordon and Jimmy Johnson getting into it a couple times. It causes them to drive harder which is better for the team.
Everything Dale said is exactly correct in my opinion, because as a Chase fan that’s exactly how I feel. Sitting in Turn 1 on Sunday watching it happen live I was PISSED at Larson. After sitting huddled under the bleachers for 2 hours waiting for the race to start, we didn’t even bother to watch the finish after Larson took the white flag. That’s how mad I was. Now though, I’m not mad at Larson. Chase didn’t get the job done, and he expected too much from a teammate who had AJ frickin Allmendinger directly behind him. Larson did nothing wrong, and did everything he gets paid to do. Executed perfectly. To ME the frustration comes from seeing Chase have such a dominant car. In my opinion he was only going as fast as he needed to. And could have gone faster. Led the last half of the race. Led all those nerve wracking laps, and was cruising to victory. And then the caution comes out. He gets away once and then the caution comes out AGAIN. It literally never fails with Chase leading at the end of these things. Like it’s hysterical at this point. But he had just as much of a shot to win as everyone else, and didn’t. So it is what it is. But that’s the frustrating part to me, is that he did have the dominant car, and didn’t get it done.
If I was chase, I would be frustrated with how that played out but I would also be frustrated with my own performance. The frustration we saw from chase in his post race interview may have been all of the above
Dale was in a similar position at the 2002 july daytona race...michael was the car to beat, jr was content to run 2nd feeling he owed michael one, said as much on the radio, pops told him he owed it to his team to go for the win, so he did...and got freight trained and finished 6th, then a bunch of fans littered the track with everything because apparently they thought mikey was supposed to always let jr win.
You go for the win without running out of talent. That’s the issue. It’s not “going for the win” it’s about Larson trying to be the hero and run chase wide. Larson is lucky he didn’t wreck both of them
One of the most thoughtful analysis that Dale Jr has stated. An additional point that was not considered here, was whether Chase should have considered the inside line on the restart. At the end of the day, I agree that this was a racing incident by two of the best current drivers.
Couldn’t agree more with 100% of what Jr said. Wasn’t a dirty move and it was for the WIN! But I can see exactly why chase was upset about. And it wasn’t just the move that Larson put on him.
this show has opened up many details of racing that make it a lot interesting and understandable to me. (I don't know what I don't know - till I see it here) for years, seemed like its simple , "go fast, win". here, with a drivers explanation and track theory - YOU GO RACE TO WIN. I prefer when its done cleanly. great entertainment on the track, and right here. great show.
Is it just me or as of recently , since the Rossgate argument on the download , does Dale jr treat Fat Mike like ..... A. scolded puppy for peeing on the floor B. child for burning your house down C. ugly X-wife demanding child support
I'm a Huge Chase fan. Jr's the best, but the thing I don't like was this was premeditated. Larson admitted this was the only way he could beat Chase. That's why I have a problem with this. He didn't have as good as a car but just pushed him wide. I'm not terribly upset but think it's setting the wrong example. These guys just continue to wreck each other every week especially at the end of the race.
So Larson drives into the corner to hard and locks up the brake and moves Chase out of the groove. Chase avoids the wreck and gets passed by Larson and AJ..AND Larson gets a pass. Larson runs Chase into the wall at Auto club and gets a pass....And people still say Chase is the golden boy. I wonder if Larson would pull the the same stunt against Harvick or Logno....I'm guessing no because he knows what would happen.
I agree it was good NASCAR racing. Good for NASCAR. My thought is if the "old sand trap" was there, Chase wouldn't choose the outside lane. Since the trap is gone (I understand why for safety) Turn #1 isn't respected like it used to be. Drivers just run over the turtle looking for traction then return to the track near the bottom of the hill before the esses. Back in the day, both would have ended up in the sand trap.
JR you said that these guys have sponsors to keep happy.......exactly, chase has multiple sponsors to keep happy. Unlike Larson who Mr H is taking money out of his pocket to run the 5 team. Larson has a hard time getting sponsors due to his past record on and off track. Larson keeps doing business like this he will never land a sponsor. Mr H is no fool, he won't fund that team out of pocket forever. If Larson would be a team player the 9 and 5 could have finished 1 and 2. Nope greed got in the way and now they finish 1 and 4.
I guess I don’t understand why anybody expected any different I understand not racing your teammate dirty but why as far as doing what you have to do to win a race like passing somebody why it’s a big deal just because it’s your teammate are you supposed to just sit there and not go past them if you’re faster? I’m sure this is a stupid question but I’m asking it anyway. I don’t understand why this is such a big deal
And what if Larson took both he and Elliot out of the race...Wouldn't Rick Hendrick be furious? It could have easily have ended up wiith both cars not making the corner. I just don't think you should risk taking out a team mate who's leading on the last lap.
Just a racing moments between Larson and Elliott. Everyone was going wide on the restart. Nothing intentional between those 2. So Chase fans, quit your whining. Y’all act like everyone wants to harm Chase.
I've been so sick of hearing how Larson did wrong. Dale said this perfectly. This is exactly how I feel. I'm full blown Hendrick motorsports! Gordon is a God to me, but chase needs to understand. This is the win...I wouldn't have it any other way
So now it's AJ's fault. Larson knew he wasn't gonna make the corner without using Chase as a buffer. That was his plan all along. Love seeing teammates race hard.
Seriously, Larson never plays like a team player. I understand playing for the championship points. But through the regular season, Larson doesn't care about anything but himself.
It's called racing. Larson went for it, good. Chase was mad that he lost, good. Chase put aside his emotions to congratulate Larson, good. In racing you look for every advantage you can get, sometimes the fastest car or best driver doesn't win, and sometimes it's pure luck, that's what makes it interesting.
I agree wit Dale here. It is not Larson's responsibility to give up and let Chase win. Chase chose the wrong lane and he paid the price. Larson did his JOB.

I blasted your boys on DoorBumperClear, but after listening to your call/take I understand a bit better. Your call and take was more professional than the 3 stooges yesterday. And I am a fan of TJs work..but man they aggravate the hell out of me with what they say sometimes.
The 3 stooges lmao
Thank you Jr. It's racing
I can see frustration... going for the win is one thing but his mistake cost his teammate. If Chase wasnt to his outside then Larson would have completely blew the corner... he got in way to hot
Prince Chase apologized on the radio that he made a mistake.
Prince Chase has allowed himself to be put in a stupid position. He thinks he deserves more respect. I guess that means that if Prince is in front we stop the race and give him the trophy.
How many restarts had Prince and Kyle watched? Prince made a mistake and Kyle won the race.
@@kmart128 It's not mistake to win any thing but first is a losing
@@kmart128 that was on chase for choosing the outside he should have chose inside, not Larson's fault he out drove chase it's a pretty typical move in road course racing to get in deep as possible into a corner
I was really surprised to see chase choose the outside line.
Faster on the outside! Until a car door slams to win! That is why he was in the OUTSIDE he didn’t think his TEAMMATE would body slam him like he did! He will remember that next time🤫
Didn't look like it from my point of view , you can't turn through another car , in this case the inside was faster and If there was contact Chase turned into Larson.
AJ seemed to think the inside was faster also on restarts.
@@gregbayne6229 oh stop telling lies he didn't slam him at all did you even listen to Jr, Chase had plenty of room from Larson to gather himself up and not get into the fence.....
@@truckercowboyed2638 Kyle got into his door! Plan an simple🤷🏻♂️He done it to win!
Where can I get one of those tshirts of Kelley’s?
dale is spot on with his analysis. it was a racing deal plain and simple. kyle didnt go in and door chase and wreck him on purpose like so many people are acting like. chase doesnt have to be happy about it he should be mad. but its not like kyle wrecked him out.
Awesome synopsis of what happened. Agree 100%.
Thank you! I think fairly thought out.
Hey man I love the K E T-shirt
Nailed it, well done.
It was a great race 🏁 👍 👏 👌 😀
@@terrygarvin1392 and who in the hell asked? Say that to someone who cares
Elliot I'm okay with even though I never cared for Awesome Bill and a damn sure never cared for Gordon or Johnson or Larsen !
I thought the same thing.
Absolutely 💯 spot on
I just don’t like the media acting like Mr.
Chase wasn’t asking for help… a little respect was what he was asking for
Cool to see him wearing the most talented Earnhardt kid, I wish there was a store to get these shirts.
They have some in the store at jr motorsports and possibly online
What a bright guy! I love to listen to him. Something about how country folks speak. Very few words go a long way. God Bless America! MAGA...
Very well said Dale!
OK with Junior's comments on this - but there was contact between the 5 and 9 down into Turn 1.....he sort of described it as "forced" wide.....yeah he was because the 5 car ran into him.
I love Dale's shirt.
I love Dale’s perspective. As a Chase fan, I am not happy with the outcome of the race, but I agree with Dale’s POV. Chase had every right to be pissed/upset, but Larson needed to try and get another win.
I agree with Jr 100%
Idk if anyone else noticed but Chase won the regular season championship after the 1st stage. The person that interviewed Chase after the race didn't mention it at all. No one has said much about it since the middle of stages 1 and 2.
Post race media tried 3 times to get Chase to say something bad about the outcome, but he didn't fall for the, drama creating media's efforts. Good for you Chase.
Very well said Jr!
they should stop calling them teammates lol..
Hendricks got two of the best drivers period... Larson an Elliott both got mad talent behind the wheel
Spot on Jr, three of the very best going for it. Gotta do what you gotta do. Chase is my boy but it is what it is. I'm sure he'll be ready for the next one when it comes. 💙🏁💙
Nascar should just start posting these videos instead of every Facebook page asking "WHAT DID YOU THINK OF DERP DA DERPS THIS WEEK...??!"
Chase needs to realize he can never count on a team mate, it's his team mate that he should take out first. no more team mate CRAP!!!!
People want the F1 type teammate rules when they are infront aka don’t pass me, but want the let ‘em race when they are behind the teammate, can’t have it both ways
Hey its just like watching TV, the commercial is twice as loud!
Well said
Spot On
I think that was good analysis
If Chase didn't have such a terrible half lap and went to work after coming out third after that 1st corner, he had the car and some time that he still had a good shot of running down AJ and Kyle and still win. Him losing the added positions ruined his chances. Probably contributed to the frustration.
Also had to get his tires cleaned up and get some momentum back.
@@ribbs67 Another couple of laps and Chase catches Larson. But on a green/white/checker, no room for the slightest slip ups.
Absolutely 💯
Larson had the move. It was about AJ not Chase.
Seems to me Chase used up Corey Lajoie a few weeks back.
Just racing. Larson barely got into him. Media has sure blown this thing out of proportion IMHO.
Also, research the past and find out how many times Larson had taken wins away from Elliott and made them both end up in lower positions.
Oh so chase never did anything wrong, always blaming Larson, Chase fans are idiots and you proved it
I remember JJ used Gordon up a few defferent times, and they They weren't just teammates, Gordon got him his ride and owened part of JJ's car, you do what you have to- to win, period!!!
I 100% agree. It would have been another story if the 48 or 24 was behind the 5 car.
Absolutely the way I saw that as well
Rick Hendrick is gonna make them take the same damn rental car out to eat
JR is correct and explains it perfectly. Elliott fans should hear this and settle down because this is nascar not F1 they will touch at times. Plus AJ said it wasn't dirty it was hard racing and Larson is the most badass driver on the planet.
Jr that is 1000% how a sensible race fan and person should see this. I'm a Chase Elliott fan and that's how I see it. It's on Chase too for picking that outside. I love the fact that we have some people that still have sense.
Spot on Jr !
Chase would have done the same if he was on the inside lane.
I mean when the two best cars on the racetrack are teammates. Stuff like this is going to happen. I remember Jeff Gordon and Jimmy Johnson getting into it a couple times. It causes them to drive harder which is better for the team.
Nice shirt!
The 9 is in the same boat as you said the 5 car is in...... WTH.. man
Everything Dale said is exactly correct in my opinion, because as a Chase fan that’s exactly how I feel.
And expect Chase to put a few moves like that on Larson when the opportunity presents.
@@timclaus8313 absolutely! And I bet you Larson would be disappointed but understand why he did it.
Thank you, Dale I love Kyle Larson August 25 2022 Thursday
this show has opened up many details of racing that make it a lot interesting and understandable to me. (I don't know what I don't know - till I see it here) for years, seemed like its simple , "go fast, win". here, with a drivers explanation and track theory - YOU GO RACE TO WIN. I prefer when its done cleanly. great entertainment on the track, and right here. great show.
I wonder what they would be saying if it were Ross Chastain making that move. Bet they would all be saying something different.
Is it just me or as of recently , since the Rossgate argument on the download , does Dale jr treat Fat Mike like .....
A. scolded puppy for peeing on the floor
B. child for burning your house down
C. ugly X-wife demanding child support
The point is that this is twice now with Larson
Hey Dale, hope you feel better soon.
The FB ad referring to their safety staff being bigger than the FBI. The irony is so timely 🙄
Earnhardt Jr has a bunch of knowledge and makes real sense
Well said Dale .... I'm a Chase Elliott fan I agree Larson was put in a tough spot
In the end it is just as important to beat your teammate as it is all the other cars. Late race re-start, whatever Chase was thinking, he was wrong.
It sound like just hard racing to me !
It's not. Only the Karens are triggered.
It’s not the fastest car that wins. It’s the driver that refuses to lose
Completely agree
This is the win...I wouldn't have it any other way
Agree 100% with what Dale said. Great explanation of the facts and situation. 👍👍👏👏
He had control until he didn't. LOL
