This sermon applies to us all. So many of us get distracted by material things. Spending money on expensive, trendy items that keep us from saving, investing and building real wealth.
Wow! What a sermon! This lusting of the eyes go way back to the Garden of Eden. Adam saw that the apple looked good and desirable to the eye. So he ate of it. The devil knows man's weakest point, which is the eye. So let us ask God to give us eyesalve so that we can see. Amen
This sermon has taken the turn that most sermons take and the muslim religion rests upon and many violent and cruel men cherish - the evil and strange and loose woman - the quintessential temptress. I think it would be good to have a woman preach a men's day sermon. I think men need to hear about the helpmate, the eternal mother and grandmother, the partner who has stood by Black men through slavery and reconstruction and civil rights - right down to where we are right now. I will be 72 years old in November, and I have seen what the Black family can be and what the Black family can accomplish when the man and the woman are in God's embrace with each other. The Black man definitely needs to address the willful, selfish boy inside of his soul. All men do - that's life and part of becoming a man. But let us stop blaming some lustful characterization of some distant woman as the glue that binds them to boyhood. Sure, some women are temptresses, like Delilah. But some, like Bethsheba, may just be innocent woman, minding their own business, taking a bath on their roof. I certainly don't believe Eve was lustfully eating the apple. Eve didn't tempt Adam - Satan did. Let's keep that in mind and stop twisting the story around to condemn and insult and stereotype women, especially Black women. Peace and God's blessing to this spirit filled church!
What happened to taking the God given Wisdom (dominion over your flesh, denying yourself, first) and quit making excuses about what we let our Lustful, Sinful Flesh do. What we need to do is stop retarding people and ourselves to the Truth of God. Men need to pray for themselves EVERYDAY first.
Thank you for airing this dynamic, holy ghost filled power packed service. Bishop Jacobs brings the glory every time!!! ❤️🔥👏👏👏
