I've always wondered how you make these videos, do you have to have a piano connected to your computer? Or do you just create the melodies in a software? Awesome vid btw :)

I do have a piano plugged into my PC which lays the blueprint for the song. Rest is entirely edited/created in a software (in my case Musescore 4).

This is a great song! Absolutely love it!
I have a question; how do you write melodies for swing ragtime stuff. I've been trying to write a swing ragtime type thing, and I can make the base sound fine. I just have a hard time with the melodies. I'm not used to writing this style of music, so if you've got some advice I'd love to hear it. Thank you!

Cheers! Sadly I dont really have a magical answer for you. 99% of the melodies I write already "pre-exist" in my head; its more of a natural occurance to me rather than some step by step building process.
What I would recommend (and this doesnt work for everyone) get a lot of musical input (just listen to songs, preferably ones you havent listened to) and then sit down, no piano, no phone and just try to think of a melody, or rather try to "feel" a melody if that makes sense. If you get something you like, you can always alter some of the melody later! Thats how it works for me at least. Good luck!
