    I think people forget that a start full of electric bikes will be making a lot of sound that we normally don’t hear. Tires ripping through dirt, roost smacking against bikes and riders, wrecks, riders yelling at eachother…. They will be able to have mics down on the track to capture all of this. Think of how the NBA mics up basketball courts - shoes squeaking, players yelling, clangs and swishes at the basket, people hitting the deck…. The sound of engines screaming probably eliminates more things than they create in my opinion.

  • @VlogEpicness

    AJ opening statements 100% correct. Been arguing this with goons online for years now. Ebike makes you a way more technically sound rider.

    • @marmaleg5309
      @marmaleg5309 Год назад

      With enough practice on both, you can be a sound rider. One offering just allows you to never have to move your foot position, but it could also be argued that having to move your feet around often would make you a better all around rider with enough practice.

    • @JohnHowerton137
      @JohnHowerton137 Год назад

      @@marmaleg5309 it’s more of a learning to walk before run thing. With no focus on clutching, shifting, gear selection, stalling and the chassis upset related to those things, the rider can focus more on body position, momentum and line selection which is much more important to going fast. Just look at Jett for a perfect example.

    You dont need to move your feet to shift, or to use rear brake, you dont need a clutch, and you have front and rear brake levers. Your foot positioning will be PERFECT. its gonna take alot of skill out of racing currently. Ebikes will crush everyone and anyone on ice will have no chance.

      @@MX-CO electric motors including stark varg and all teslas dont have transmissionsnor gear boxes. The power is on demand and instantaneous as you twist the throttle. There is legit zero need for a clutch anymore. Whatever you think you will do with it, simply wont be needed and you will realise it in your very first ride. Stark varg can bang a tight hairpin turn going 1st gear speed and just twist throttle and launch 100 feet off a jump face only 25 feet outside of the tight corner.

    Electric is now getting interesting. The Alta started it but Stark turned it up to 11! I am old enough to remember when Yamaha brought out the YZ400/426 the first four stroke that gave a glimpse that a four stroke could battle a 2 stroke and win (granted there is a C.C. difference but that's another argument). I remember dogging the YZ400/426 and saying "This 4 Stroke moto thing is just a passing fad." Boy was I wrong and have been eating my words for 20ish years! Not making that mistake again. In ending I will continue to turn laps on my YZ250X and watch this whole thing play out. Keep up the Great work Gentlemen!

    You are right, and the key points:
    - Ride (almost anywhere) with no noise complaints! Yes, your back yard. In places with a snow/winter climate, indoor tracks are WAY more possible now. Any building. An old parking garage, old warehouse... even better... the hundreds of now abandoned or near abandoned 1980s style shopping malls! Holy cow... they would be perfect!!! Multi story dirt bike tracks for any and all electric bikes/quads and space to have a community with food stall, shops, a pit area and so on. Solar panels on the roof and Tesla PowerWall style chargers etc.
    - Low maintenance, so good for new people to the sport
    - Price will come down as they get more popular and more brands (like cars, TVs, and airline travel travel did when they first started)
    - One bike can be with you as you improve by, as AJ said, go from 1hp to 80ph (by using the app)
    - You can share the bike with friends and family of different skill levels (as above, the app and program the power)
    - The after market will boom once bike sales do too. It won't be quite the same, but it will be there and probably stuff we can not even think of at the moment. (there is a big aftermarket now for all Teslas)
    AND NO, it will no remove 2 and 4 stokes completely, and no one wants them to go away forever, but it will allow more options. I LOVE our dirt bikes now, but I know electric will be awesome too. I want both! And as for dual sport/enduro... that is the perfect place for them, get out in nature, quietly and you will see so much more wildlife. I see a LOT of animals already in the Aussie outback, but I would see WAY more on a road legal electric bike such as an enduro Stark (which we need to ride in any national park of state forest in Queensland Australia)
    100 years ago, People who rode/used horses... they didn't like motor vehicles... where are we now?

    I can see this killing motorsports. One of the main reasons motorsports exists is because of the tuning and modding factor. All electric bikes will turn motorsports into a vanilla experience. They have had electric drag cars for years now and no one cares, but put a jet engine on a semi truck..and everyone is watching.

      There is absolutely no way this will kill the sport. Actually it’s the complete opposite. Drag cars isn’t a good comparison at all. This is a huge growth opportunity for the sport in un areas. It has already been proven on the small bike market. There are all kinds of people riding dirt bikes now that wouldn’t be if it weren’t for E bikes. There are also kids getting a lot more ride time on E bikes in urban areas that kids with ICE bikes are not.

    Electric is what might get me on an MX bike. Coming from bicycles, dealing with a clutch, shifting and foot brake is quite intimidating. And of course there are all the other obvious reasons mentioned here. I also never thought of a BMX gate drop as being boring, there is the same tension about who is coming out of the first corner leading.

  • @nickhowser7262
    @nickhowser7262 Год назад +3

    The things I wouldn’t like is the skill taken out of riding. If it’s anything like the electric bicycles I don’t want one for motocross. I could see in city riding being good but I want to have the shifter, foot break, and clutch. Being able to do that and keep proper foot and body position takes the real skill and fun. With electric the torque and ride ability with less consequence of not missing a shift or having to move your foot is a plus as far as safety but it takes less skill and effort. I wouldn’t mind having both but I like all the challenges that come with a regular dirt bike.

I think It's going to take a long time for people to get excited about watching a race with only electric bikes. But if it allows for more people to get on bikes and have more tracks around major cities then it's also a positive.

    • @kurtheidelbach
      @kurtheidelbach Год назад

      @@TommyToboggan611 It’s not a replacement bike. Many people use them as daily practice bikes because they are such low maintenance and convenient. I would never have one as a singular bike. I have 3 other ICE bikes. You can ride a bike everyday and are not driving to a track or having to charge it. With most people’s lives with work and school they don’t have much more then an hour a day to ride during the week anyways. If Josh Hill a pro can get over an hour out of it with still 25% left on max 80 HP power it’s plenty good for me. Again it’s not for everyone and takes a different mentality. People would still be riding horses for transportation with the everything is great and no change mentality
