I could listen to Sonny's stories about Elvis and his Memphis Mafia all day, most people wouldn't believe the things as in this story, amazing, simply amazing.
Love you Elvis, as I have since I was 12, and you were 22. 10 years and 10 days younger than you. I still have the badge I wore and the words I said: ELVIS FOREVER.....and I meant it then...and always will.
As a former telephone operator, this story brought it all back for me. A customer wants a taxi and doesn't care which company it is (completely understandable), but the operator cannot choose one for the customer or the phone company could be sued for favouring one taxi company over another. And then Elvis didn't know the pickup address to boot. Helping callers could often be hard.
Massive guy! Good gosh, his hands wrapped around me twice on a handshake. Grand Southerner. Nothing off-limits. We had the best time hanging with him. He was just as warm and affectionate as proper Southern gentleman. I can’t speak to the book, but I loved the man I spent time with… Nothing but love.
@@stever1791 “don't criticize What you can't understand” You have never listened to a Dylan album, because if you did you would realise how insignificant Elvis is. Try” Blood on the tracks”, or “Highway 61 revisited “ or just keep you head in the sand and think Dylan is nothing for the rest of your life, your loss not mine.
Nice to have your family and friends around you like that. But i guess if your as famous and as big as Elvis you cant trust anyone else outside of that circle
i remember some guys getting into my cab not knowing where they were going, not knowing the address & not knowing how to use the phone to find out where they were, & they wouldnt speak to me unless their boss said to. but he wasnt talking. frustrating to say the least. happened several times. of all the cabs they get into mine. i was not happy.
It always amazes me how many people we consider above all things, couldn't get thru one single day without an army to help them figure life out. Prince, Michael Jackson & others had folk taking care of them. If my wife brings me a glass of water I feel useless, my legs ain't broken I can get my own water.

Agree. But for arguments sake, let's say that Elvis gave him all the details of what happened. My question is why did Elvis not get into one of his cars to drive. He drove many times, albeit he always had someone w-him, I never saw a photo or film of him driving alone, so did he not like to drive alone in the car, did he always want someone w-him for company? So that's why in this situation he called for a taxi because he didn't want to drive by himself. Just a thought that came to me.

Good to hear a funny story about Elvis I’ve Always loved him❤️

I could just see Elvis trying to figure all this out 😂Too funny 😊🤣
I think that story is wonderful.~ Elvis might have been sheltered … but he was funny! 🌷
Elvis will always be in my Heart,He was the most Handsome Man I've ever seen, Og and Sexy Yes.....
I just love 💘 Love this story!! Shows how he really depends upon his guys to TCB!!
Wonderful. He was a very likable man, by all accounts, and those who worked for him evidently loved the work and the man.
They were freeloading yes men.. and Parker was a total twat

Yeah they loved him, but not enough to say "No." No to the drugs especially.

back then too, thats awesome, $100 is food for that mans family for a couple weeks likely
Great story.
It’s funny ❤I loved him RIP beautiful one ❤
Such a cute story. ❤❤
Loved this story man felt so real
Elvis is Legendary. No one compares to our King of Rock and Roll
@@pattuner9907 So many stories about this Bob Joyce ( Reverend ) - I'm not into Bob Joyce and his stories
Elvis was ok but just contrived. Bob Dylan is the real thing
@@david-pb4bi We disagree.
@@david-pb4bi Dylan sang a song like throat cancer. But he could write a poem. That was his forte. Writing , Not entertaining. Elvis is The King !!!

One of my favorites! You can't read this in a book. It's funnier spoken. At what point did the mafia think Elvis was too protected.
And yet, he was managing to figure it out. So not entirely helpless.
Good story Sonny!
Love this 😂👍
Oh my boy ! My boy my boy ! 🤣🥰
I read that John Lennon was almost as bad. In his 30's he couldn't figure out how to book a hotel room.
This is hilarious just to funny. Love. I can just c this. Wow.
First time I have heard this story. That’s hilarious!

I’ve heard similar stories about Prince. Someone said he’d been in Princeland since he was 19.
How sweet.
I think this seems like a sad story. He cant do normal things because of his fame 🥺
couldn't

I find it so special that the West Boys took care of Elvis all his life.until the end of course.i put that on Vernon.

Absolutely. It is kind of saddening.

Shhhh….my wife gets on RUclips.
Just like President Ford's kids, they use to have sandwiches made for them and they would claim that could make their own sandwiches .
😀
😃so funny,wish i was that taxi driver.
Its a load of crap lies. He is a foney AND No ''friend of Elvis.??
Are you kidding me? I wish I was there!!❤❤❤
Sounds like a nightmare to me. 😯
That guy has Kenny Rogers eyes!
that is so sad
This is so sad, he didn’t know how to do basic everyday normal things. They sheltered him so much.
They didn't shelter him. They made him dependent on them. Sad. That creepy old Colonel Parker was a big leech.

I bet Elvis was really lonely 🙁
No 411 back in the day.
Operators yes.
According to Wikipedia, 411 has been in use since the 1930's. This would have been the 60's.
He was the biggest ever at his time I don't think he enjoyed life at all and I think most people suck the life out of him.
😁
Is this Sonny West?
Yes
Lol
Funny
Got any more of those?
@edit Yeah I just clicked on your channel, nevermind bro.
Actually, I think this is a very sad story...
I agree.
I haven't heard any sad Elvis stories except one, that was him dying.
"Elvis, I was out getting your breakfast!" "Awww, Sonny. I said to get the FAMILY bucket of chicken at KFC... aww... hawww... hawww...."
How did he know about every detail of the conversation Elvis had with the phone operator and taxi firm if he wasn't there? Seems fishy to me
Obviously Elvis told him his side of events.
Its called "poetic license". He embellished some of it for the sake of a good story.

Elvis is dead period!
True, but a legend will always be remembered, but you, being a sad nobody, won't be.
Don't really like how Elvis is being portrayed in this here 'story', just my opinion.
I honestly don’t think it’s mean spirited
I realize that, but if it’s true? 😂
