In the novel it is explained that the headband of the Lans represents self-restraint. Because of this they aren't allowed to take it off.
Only when they are with their fated person and only if they are alone the Lans don't need to show self-restraint and are therefore allowed to take the headband of.
It is sacred and is because of the reason above not allowed to be touched by anyone except their fated person.

ah, of course.. a new person in our fandom. Welcome! welcome! amazing how you only made like the smallest mistakes. And yes, because I am a big fan of mxtx (the WHOLE fandom) I would like to point out the mistakes (ehe).
1. The family last name of the sect (main family), for example “Lan” would go at the beginning of a disciples name (they also have courtesy names like Lan Zhan’s courtesy name is Lan Wangji and Wei Ying’s is Wei wuxian
2. You kind of confused me by making katsuki say brother, but izuku say uncle to kitzuka cuz is kitzuka is Lan Qiren (in this situation), they would probably call him “Master Lan” or “Uncle Lan” just like izuku said
3. For the headband thing that’s kind not right cuz the only people too touch the headband would be the parents and the soulmate of the person
(Also, is kitzuka even apart of the Lan sect cuz he doesn’t have a headband. Unless you forgot, then don’t mind this ig)
oh yea.. nicknames are also not really a thing. Only like saying things like example, “ Lao-wei”, “Lan-er-gege”, “Wei-gongzi”. (There are more, I just for got lol)
Umm sorry if this is too much correction. I’m just a gay Chinese show enjoyer. Also I forgot to say how I love that ur encouraging others to join the fandom, it’s very nice. (I just hope the wrong people don’t get into this fandom like the cursed shippers lol). Aight that’s all I have to say ig.
