    Love this drill. Back in my college rowing days we didn’t know there was a “feet-in” option.

      Wow your crew must have been hard core! It's definitely a great drill though! :)

    Make a lot of sense to learn form. And help the abs as you said

      Yes for sure! The better your technique, the better your experience of the machine. 💪

    Great vid, Cassi. You nailed it!
    Warm up? Ha! Do ALL your low intensity rowing feet out (ie anything lower than 24 spm, do it unstrapped)….
    ….and not only will you not pull up by the straps (this kills boat speed and upsets balance on the water) but you’ll develop a core and hamstrings of steel.
    It’s weird at first but give it two or three sessions and it becomes second nature.
    It is THE drill, and used by on the water rowers ALL the time.
    Cassi also repeated the most important part of the drill multiple times - emphasizing the constant connection of the foot to the foot plate as you finish the drive through the release of the oar and hinging into the beginning of the recovery are the keys to the drill.

      Thanks for those awesome comments!! Totally agree, rowing feet out gets WAY easier with practice as the connection to the foot stretcher becomes second nature.

    Recently tried erging feet’s out, and oh boy how difficult it was.

      It gets easier over time, promise, and it's SO good for your form!

    I always row with my feet out, its much better for the core activation

    Should one just not use the straps and row feet out always ?

    • @UCanRow2
      @UCanRow2  2 года назад +1

      Not necessarily. The straps are helpful to give you more stability at the finish of the stroke so you can get the correct layback. But if you find you're using them to pull yourself back up on the recovery (and so probably rushing the recovery) then you may do well to row without them for a while.

    My foot plates flap forward and back. They aren’t static. Is that a normal thing?

      Yep! Some machines do that. Check out this video for tips on how to manage it: ruclips.net/video/S3wo8UeqDWA/видео.html
