Honestly I don't think is really a bad story or anything. Most of the criticism I see online is people criticizing it for not being like other series, aka not being a political heavyweight commentary like Attack on Titan or a masterfully crafted character drama like Vinland Saga. But they never address what the series is trying to do and convey, instead focusing on what it doesn't do. It's just a simple, straightforward story but not a bad one by any means. Having read the manga I also think that some of the better story bits of the series are in the final arc, so it not being animated yet is a contributing factor to the negativeness surrounding the series imo. Regarding the effects, studio ufotable is well known for their blend of 3d animation with 2d. They're also a very innovative studio with the technology they implement for their series. There's even some rumors that they may even be using Unreal 5 for Demon Slayer's final arc so yeah, they're crazy.

But, few parts are pretty complex on it's own such as Genya and Sanemi's relationship, Shinobu's coping mechanism, Shinjuro's character arc, Kanao's personality etc. The problem the whole series has is that either most of the characters are too simple or the character progressions are too fast. It tries too hard to make characters likeable but it didn't really tries to explore the characters in a multifaceted way. That's the main reason why some people think the writing is not great. The issues demon slayer have are not that different to other series but others compensates it by exploring complex themes deeply by either providing internal conflicts or having a complex lore and world building, which demon slayer didn't really focus that deep enough.
you should definitely give demon slayer a chance! its storytelling is just very simple and straight to the point about sibling bonds, family, lots of emotional yet tragic moments and of course defeating demons! it doesn’t need to be have a complex storyline like AOT or have galactic/ planetary destruction type powers like DBZ, its simpleness is what makes demon slayer a hit plus the animation bringing its simpleness to life also makes it as very popular amongst other modern animes! hope ya give it a shot sometime! :))

It's one of those animes that's best viewed in full HD and high FPS. This is the only anime I watch on the TV just cause it would be a shame watching it on a small screen. The animation is too good. It's actually CGI, very well made CGI. Instead of trying to make it realistic, they make it look 2D still, but a more fluid 2D. There's a term for that, I forgot. I have to open my video editor, there is an effect there that achieves almost the same effect. OP 1 is one of my fave songs, I will never get tired listening to it. OP 2 is def not as good. But still ok OP 3, I like better than OP 2, but still not as good as OP 1. OP 1 is really hard to beat. OP 4 is kinda between OP 3 and OP 1
