It’s a very interesting shift that most 90s kids are more drawn to adult anime than conventional movie making. It feels like this medium is one of the few that hasn’t lost all its teeth

Anime isn't limited by woke actors, the live action anything is a let down because the actor pool is small and agencies of those actors are woke and ignorant of what viewers actually want
@jaysonblunt9987 it's not live action vs anime. It's good storytelling and writing vs garbage. I'll say practically all my favorite anime can work in live action with good writing and storytelling. My faves happen to be planetes, welcome to the nhk, cowboy bebop, steins gate,
I was skeptical about a Terminator anime series until I heard Production IG was behind it. Ghost in the Shell SAC is my all time favorite anime. I'm happy I wasn't let down here.
This anime finally made me understand the Terminator franchise, my problem with the original movies was they didn't seem to dive to deeply into what version of time travel theory they were using, so every movie the question of "really again? I thought they fixed everything already" popped up. This anime finally stated that they're going based off the "alternate timeline" version of time travel theory so they're essentially stuck in a seemingly never ending loop where skynet sends a terminator back so then humans send a resistance fighter/terminator of our own back which changes things to some new threat that skynet finds so then it sends a terminator back to eliminate that threat and so we sent a resistance fighter/terminator of our own back to stop skynet again and so on and so on, it's a zig zag timeline towards some unknown destination where something ACTUALLY makes a difference for either side and the loop ends, this time Koroko might finally be that difference
There have been other stories where, they kind of explain that the skynet and war of the machines just keep getting postponed but not fully averted. This is an example of how they can keep making a movie 5 or 10 years later, and still having the story of skynet be a viable plot line or danger that needs to be stopped. Eg, check out the Sarah Connor chronicles. They even made Sarah and John jump to the current year (of that Real Life year) from the year in which they were in the Tv show, so that they could tell the story for the current year and not make it be about the two of them living back in the 80s or 90s (which is where they would be if they followed the movie timeline)
Because they are too slavishly devoted to the formula of sending a resistance fighter to protect a future leader. Even Genisys was trying to explore similar ideas from this anime, yet still had to hue too close to the same concept and characters, it made it boring.
I think he might have told the truth, because with Kokoro now with the chip she might she the data of that future and ultimately see it as its ultimate goal to unify humanity and skynet

Honestly the animes approach to Time Travel FIXES the biggest problem that the Terminator films have been grappling with as the franchise has grown and grown. Following the “Multiverse” theory of time travel, the anime has freed itself of the same trap the films have been circling for years - every change they make, every slight alteration is now perfectly fine to do because they are all their own self contained timelines whose stories can be considered “canon” within their own respective timeline
This show was so good. Up there with T1 and T2. Im glad they used the T800 as the terminator instead of making some new upgrade. So many call backs to T1 and 2. Fire
What I would like to hear more people talk about with this split timeline is the fact that in the original movie John Conner actually did win against Skynet. The instant Skynet sent back a terminator there was a new timeline created for the very first time and then when they sent back Kyle Reese, it was another new timeline . Every time a time traveler goes back it’s a new timeline not just these pairs. Just because that’s what we’re seeing doesn’t mean that’s what happened . No. I see what you are saying about each instance of time travel creating a new timeline, but that's just not how it is shown to work. If it worked like you are saying, then we would _NEVER_ see both time travellers in the same timeline, but we do. Under your interpretation, since Kyle's original timeline didn't have a Terminator in the past, and traveling back in time creates a new timeline every time, then he should only be traveling to a brand new timeline where it's just him and Sarah. Then the whole plot of the first movie would never happen. Do you see what I mean? The time travellers of each previous timeline *MUST* either go to the exact same new timeline, or they each go into separate new timelines. It can't be both. In the originals, and in Zero, humans essentially steal the "time coordinates" of the new timeline, and send their representative to the exact same moment in order to prevent additional timelines.
Eiko is not a normal human. She push off a Terminator and can interface with a Terminator's hand. Oh Terminators, can not self terminated. T-800 lie poorly like in T1 about being Sarah Connor's friend and afterward saying the famous words. "I'll be back"
My only big problem with the show was the inconsistency with the strength of the terminator. He was breaking heads and arms with bare hands in one scene only to get stalled in hand to hand combat with main characters. Plot armor was on unfortunately on full display
Plot armor for sure, but I’d also say that a terminator can’t be that much more massive than a regular human or it would give itself away and fall through weak floors. You could probably tackle a terminator, grab it’s legs, or shove it over- you’d probably be killed soon after but you’d at least delay it.
I don't even watch anime, but I want to give this a shot. The feel of the original Terminator is the best thing about the franchise that's been missing.
Definitely do NOT sleep in this show! I'm a fan of both Terminator and anime and loved this, especially all the references to all the movies. Also, if you enjoy this definitely check out Ghost in the Shell.
I knew the weebs were gonna show up to tell me to watch more anime. I just finished watching the series in original language with subs. It's certainly masterfully balanced between the horror aspects and the AI concepts. Very fresh compared to the staleness we've been getting for a couple of decades. Honestly, they could just end the anime after season 1 and it would work as a good self-contained series. There's plenty to build on for season 2 if they get contracted for it, which it looks like they're already setting up.
I watched this the other day and it was pretty good. I like to see new stories and characters in franchises I love. Although I am a fan of John and Sarah and hope to see a good story with them one day. It’s good to see new characters, places, and stories of franchises to explore new worlds and areas we haven’t seen yet.
Have you seen Sarah Connor chronicles? I feel like a tv series which lasts more than 2 hours, is what can give us more insight into how these characters grow and change. Eg a grown up John Connor in T3 or even in salvation, still didn't give enough story about John. There just are so much more to know about him and what he does in the time line, as well as Reese.

A different AI than Skynet that may or may not oppose it is to me a more interesting dynamic than the traditional Terminator formula. We know the T-800 CPU is capable of achieving sentience when active in R/W mode for a long enough duration. And that Skynet is wary of it's own creations becoming sentient, and potentially free from it's control. There are many original ideas for the franchise that don't follow the usual formula we've seen the movies portray and I hope to see more of these original takes rather than rehashed ideas.

the plot twist with the T-800 terminator protecting Kento and sacrificing itself was insane, i honestly thought the terminator was straight up skynet's doing since it kidnapped kento, hit him, threaten to break his legs, lift him up by his hand and started torturing him then killing his father . Like, i would believe future Kento would tell this terminator to not harm civilians/humans like how young John connor made the 2nd terminator from the judgement day movie not harm anyone.
It seems like the stereotypical concept of a standard timeline (one definitive line that goes forward and possibly backwards) is being questioned more and more in recent times with properties like this series and the MCU. I appreciate the change of pace.
I have to be real, I wasn’t expecting a Terminator anime at all. I did think sure, that would be cool, but never thought of it really happening. I totally agree with the concept that subsequent movies didn't have to ruin the story of The Terminator and John Connor. There are so many side stories that can be done. So many lieutenants or pockets of revolution that could have been made a story from including the idea that there's a rebellions or some kind of battle going on in Japan and other places, like this story is doing. Maybe the plot is already known that the Japanese team of rebels didn't win, but there's no reason it couldn't be a story to tell.
The anime isn't as bad as most folks in the comment section keep saying; however, it could be better. If I were to rate it, I'd give it a 6/10. The story is good despite its flaws, and it's a fresh take on the Terminator lore and series. I do like Malcolm's philosophical and psychological conversation with Kokoro, trying to convince the second A.I. sentience to help humanity fight against Skynet. Plus, I love the prophet's explanation about time travels and paradoxes, which canonized all the previous Terminator movies and shows, anime included, but clearly and understandably.
i like that the show picked up again the concept that was introduced in sarah connor chronicles of the two separate AIs with opposing motives being developed at the same time. i liked the idea of machines having their own individuality instead of being a single monolith of "kill all humans" simply for the sake of it. i think it fleshes out the machine race a lot more (no pun intended) and makes them more believable. it also contradicts the 90s perspectives on AI and robotics of programming a machine with hard codded rules in opposition to what we do now, to let a machine learn by itself
@@Michael-bn1oi we do, thats what neural networks do. You can assist and point in the right direction but they arrive at the conclusion on their own. A human writing lines of code for each infinitely possible variable is not only insurmountable, its impossible. So we just write the "brain" and "neuron" code, link them up and let NN arrive at the optimal result through trial and error. How do you think LLMs got so good so fast and keep improving exponentially? They learn through interaction and optimize their data. We can make tweaks here and there and curate their input data, but the output is all them.
As a big fan of the terminator franchise this anime series. Knocked out of the park for me it check all the boxes of a good terminator movie in T1 T2 which so much more left to tell
Hahahahaha THANK YOU, I thought I was the only one who also thought how impossible it was for Eiko to shove a 400 pound robot down a elevator shoot. And how she was tanking hits to her back from the terminator in that same fight. Other than that the show was great, 8/10 for me.
Malcolm I believe humanity deserves a second chance. - Kokoro who only saves Japan and proceeds to massacres the very humans she saved. AI sure is smart!
I liked the concept of the show but things like Aiko surviving direct hits in the back from the terminator, the insufferable attitude of the children and Malcom, and the stupidity of mizaki by just buying the cat made me dislike the final result
I read in the book that Skynet is John conner & john conner is Skynet via Neo & smith from the matrix. Smith being his old self & neo being his New self via why he was like a baby in the mind when neo forst woke up. John conner is John Anderson.
Personally I found the first four episode to be somewhat dull for rehashin the film plot but the last half were it got interesting! I loved the philosopher debate between Malcom and Kokoro on why the AI should protect humanity! It was a refreshing and some new take on the franchise and as far as I know, no one really discussed about (as in trying to asked Skynet why it want to destoryed humans and what its goal once it is achieved?).
@101Mant oh ok it was stated he was leading to victory. Everything I've remember in my head canon is the resistance is always getting their but whipped.

Congrats on the MILLION!!!
I'd go along with Judgement Day as long as someone traveled back with MechWarrior clan tech or equiv.
Right off the bat, EXPLOSION!
We definitely need S2 for this
Grats on finally hitting a million.
i like that the show picked up again the concept that was introduced in sarah connor chronicles of the two separate AIs with opposing motives being developed at the same time. i liked the idea of machines having their own individuality instead of being a single monolith of "kill all humans" simply for the sake of it. i think it fleshes out the machine race a lot more (no pun intended) and makes them more believable. it also contradicts the 90s perspectives on AI and robotics of programming a machine with hard codded rules in opposition to what we do now, to let a machine learn by itself
We don't really let machines learn by themselves. They aren't really even capable.
Now I wanna see a series of Skynet, Legion, and Kokoro waging war on one another across time with Humanity caught in the middle.
This show needs another season.
Today I learned that Terminator had an anime
It’s really good.👍
same.
It’s brand new. And the best thing since T2
@@dreworyan5652 What about Terminator Resistance?
@@dreworyan5652I enjoyed salvation and genysis
As a big fan of the terminator franchise this anime series. Knocked out of the park for me it check all the boxes of a good terminator movie in T1 T2 which so much more left to tell
Love it, different way of viewing the franchise.
Technically humanity can still be saved with even 500 of us so her logic is sound, it's just not ideal to how we humans would want it, hence the AI
@@jaredspellman7602 Ah, so it;s like the Kingsman movie. Just a culling to reduce the "virus".
There are shown to be lots of humans left. She seems to kill what she needs to seize control not just kill them all.
Great show. Eiko and misaki were the stars!
It was surprising I really did enjoy the whole thing.
I wanted to see more of the large scale battes, but this anime was very good. I was very surprised that Netflix put out this much quality
I think that Misaki and Eiko are the best women the franchise has seen in years. And I hope to see what comes next.
Thanks for the video!! See you later!! Stay safe.😊
Makes me think of Animatrix.
I watched it all on my off day. I love it ❤❤❤❤
I demand to know where Robo Kitty went in the show. Disappears around a corner never to be seen again.
BRING BACK THE ROBO KITTY!!
The soundtrack is 🔥
What an amazing show.❤
I'd really like to see them flesh out the future war more if they can. Salvation gave us a glimpse, but there's a lot more that could be shown
This looks pretty good.
You should think about talking about the show Dominion that is supposed to be a spin-off of the movie Legion
The most Terminator thing since T2.
The last episode and it's explanation of time travel blew my fucking mind! There is no fate.... but what we make ourselves.
I liked the concept of the show but things like Aiko surviving direct hits in the back from the terminator, the insufferable attitude of the children and Malcom, and the stupidity of mizaki by just buying the cat made me dislike the final result
loved this series. Netflix can do things right if they want to.
Misaki looks like the Borg Queen
So it went the Genysis route, but better.
I read in the book that Skynet is John conner & john conner is Skynet via Neo & smith from the matrix. Smith being his old self & neo being his New self via why he was like a baby in the mind when neo forst woke up. John conner is John Anderson.
I feel like this series made Terminator Genisys story relevant in what it tried to convey.
I figured it out, the vision of him being caught in the blast is the timeline his mom is from
I really want this trend of Anime-ing(I know, not a word), iterations of intellectual properties. There’s a lot more franchises this could work for
Personally I found the first four episode to be somewhat dull for rehashin the film plot but the last half were it got interesting! I loved the philosopher debate between Malcom and Kokoro on why the AI should protect humanity! It was a refreshing and some new take on the franchise and as far as I know, no one really discussed about (as in trying to asked Skynet why it want to destoryed humans and what its goal once it is achieved?).
Can you do the T900 and T infinity from Terminator
i think this will be back for season two. small investment but with a good yield. seems like a no brainer for netflix
Has any terminator media address why the machines want to go into the past so much? My thought is they would win the future war by attrition.
Skynet does not understand that changing the past will not change its present.
In some it's specifically stated John Connor has led the resistance to the point that Skynet is about to be defeated. So it's the last option it has.
@101Mant oh ok it was stated he was leading to victory. Everything I've remember in my head canon is the resistance is always getting their but whipped.
After all, the hot garbage new terminator movies we've been getting this is awesome!
Terminators that don’t punch right through your chest and let you karate kick them
Will Kokoro save humanity, or will it be a worse skynet.
It will save.
Anime isn't really my thing but I enjoyed the different, original take at least. I did quite enjoy the story itself, mostly, hope there'll be a season 2.
18:38 I believe it’s like a tech war or arms race since Coco does not have well machines or well weapon systems. She needs to learn everything that she can from this terminator Any value piece information? Schematics can be used to her benefit in the future future.
The Terminator is voiced by Arnold Schwarzeneggers current Voice Actor in the german Dub. Might be a Casting Joke
