We Ghanaians have a proverb that says "if someone attends a funeral with one's thumb (or with his middle finger), that person will come out of the funeral really bruised ". Which literally means arrogant, haughty, nose high and mean people will never find space among people. It does not cost much to be humble but the dividends are very high. I live in Europe and I can testify how many times people have come to my aid to help me even from people whom other people have labeled extreme racists . I have been able to turn them to my side simply because of humbleness, and respect towards others.
