Greetings from Phoenix, I’m your newest student. I’m a grandma who aims to impress, and I did thanks to you. So far, just the doggies but I’m watching your videos over and over until I feel secure.

Thank you for this wonderful video! We're having a circus-theme birthday for our one-year-old, and I've always wanted to know how to do this. I can't wait to make these for all of the kids!

Where do u buy extra long or extra big balloons. Wal-Mart & party city only have smaller kits. I used make them as waitress eith helium in them.

I buy mine online. I use 260 balloons by Qualatex (available on Amazon). If you are making complicated sculptures with lots of twists, you'll want these heavier balloons. On the other hand, if you're making simple sculptures like dogs (and variations: giraffes, deer, mouse...etc) and basic swords, the balloons from party and other stores should be okay. Good luck.

    Excellent video!
I don't like hats at parties because some children may be rough and the balloon pops near their ear. I try to avoid that.
I prefer bracelets for this reason.

I agree that hats can be a problem for a lot of reasons - popping being one of them. For this reason, I try to slightly underinflate balloons for hats - whatever I can get away with and still work with them. This way, the balloons are under less pressure and less likely to pop. After working with thousands of balloons, I did have one time where a balloon popped as I was working with it and it hit me hard in the cheek and left a welt. If it had hit me in the eye, there could have been real problems. Sometimes, also, fitting a hat causes problems. Ponytails for example. I really like your bracelet idea. Thanks for sharing your insights.

@@AboutMagic Under-inflating is an excellent idea!

Keep at it. You'll get it. I'm sure it's not hopeless for you and your talents and personality will shine. Just try and not worry about impressing dates but just having fun with your groups of friends. Good luck.

Be yourself.......you don't need to impress your date with balloon figures. If he likes you, he likes you because who you are. Not because you can make two lovebirds on a heart from balloons. I'm a balloon artist, and my girlfriend likes me aside from making balloons. However though, she likes going to the different events with me. And yes, she like the fancy things I make from balloons as well.

I have literally never had anyone request a dog. Cat, giraffe and bunny I get and I know they are just variations of the dog. But the dog itself is only if I suggest it.

I guess that every balloon artist has a different vibe that drives the creations he or she makes and people ask for. Thanks for writing and best regards.

Oh for sure, the way you sell it can have an impact. And once one person gets something then they all want it.@@AboutMagic

Agreed. That's why I always recommend that beginning balloon artists not bring out a complicated, multi-balloon, time-consuming sculpture early as everyone will want one. Unless one is charging by the balloon.

Where do you buy balloons in bulk?

    • @AboutMagic

I live in LA and have purchased Qualatex balloons (260 size) from Conwin (LAballoons.com) and they sell online. I've never seen balloons sold in quantities of more than 500. Good luck.
