Sounds exactly like me in our 70 LTR, had 3 filters like you (2 submersible, 1 H.O.B. Filters), just got out first canister filter, but the smallest one, was really difficult to start with. At least you got decent hooks and tubing I had to goto Bunnings.
Yeah, I went in for the CF500 and left with the CF1200 😅 I'd like to blame the good saleswoman but I had subconsciously already convinced myself to get the CF100 and then of course for the similar price I may as well get the 1200 😆 These lucky fish will be sitting comfier than me this week 😂 Idk what's more impressive, the canister filter or that majestic beer belly 😉 Hahaha, nah but honestly thanks for the video, was a big help!
I bought the fluval 07 series and those come with a prime plunger that u pump to prime it… and it was so daunting to set up until I finally did it and it was super easy once u overcome the first part of the install 😅
hey mate.. you can.. but be mindful of where you position it. maybe use the spray bar to disperse the flow rather than having it jet out into the small tank.. hope this helps..
Check out the "pondguru" on the best way to upgrade your filtering. he puts those bio balls in the bottom of the canister. The bottom tray is filled with the sponges, course on bottom medium in the middle and the polishing cloth on the top of the bottom basket, this settles the chunky bits and takes it out before it gets to the sponges. (Thats your mechanical clean done). Next baskets filled with noodles or whatever ceramic media you choose, same in the third and final basket. Doing it this way great increases the bio activity. You can also add some chemical media like carbon etc on the top. Filtration should always be mechanical first, Bio next, then chemical.
Hey there! did you try method 2 for priming? I can never get this to workon method one, I dont get the whole bucket thing and will get water everywhere :(
the good thing is... you only have to do it when ever you do a canister clean out... I do a canister filter clean every newyear.. & the canister is always pretty clean....
You want your mechanical filters in the bottom tray , coarse, medium then fine white floss . This keeps the dirt from mucking up your biological media. Top two trays should be full of media. This will cycle your aquarium properly . Zero , Ammonia, nitrite. And even nitrate if you have got a good media .
Your take on video is amazing.lol new subscriber, I just setup AquaOne Ocellaris 1400. Already cracked duckbill. And a leak on one of the 90° bends, I'll let it settle then go back over everything next day. Going to have it running for awhile so then I can put onto outdoor setup when ready.
Hey Adnan.. I dont like the filter that comes with the Horizon 182 aquariums.. The canister filters do a better job.. they offer much better filtration, n' they require less maintenance than normal filters.. also larger biofiltration means the filter will keep much more beneficial bacteria that is needed for a healthy aquarium.. Thanks for your comment. I hope this helps..
Thanks for your reply. I asked the store person from petbarn about this perticular model’s filter and he mentioned the supplied filter is good enough for the tank as Aqua one makes good filters. I do not know adding a second filter will bring anything new for the tank, I am novice in the filter world. :-)
@@lifeadnan for a tank that size.. you really need more than a little hang-on filter.. the canister filters are much more powerful... n' will keep your tank squeaky clean... i agree the filter you get with the tank probably IS good enough... but the bio-filter is much larger in these canisters.. probably over 100 times the size... meaning you have a large population of the beneficial bacteria.. the bio-filter pads that come with the hang-on filters are tiny!! The canisters will keep your tank looking cleaner, n' for longer.. i recommend you buy a the 1200 CF from eBay or get a PetBarn price match as i did.. you can pick one up for around $180. !!!
Do you think 1200 CF would is appropriate for 130 L tank? I understand you have the 182L tank which would need a more powerful filter. But for a 130L tank CF 1200 might be overkill?
@@lifeadnanI dont think it would be too much for a 130ltr tank... however, it may be best to ask your pet store for advice... with mine.. i've had to adjust the pipe that inputs water so it doesnt move as much of the water.. my fish would avoid swimming in a certain spot in my aquarium. i now have the sprout facing the glass... you could do the same with your tank.... i paid $180 for mine from my local aquarium... eBay is more expensive atm... PetBarn DO price match! I'd phone around n' ask pet shops for the best deal...
Can you please tell me more what is the difference Ocellaris, Aquis, Aquis 2, Ocellaris UVC, Nautalis filters? Really confused after visiting Aqua One website with different kind of canister filters.
hello again Adnan... i do not know about those tbh... I'm only new to canister filters myself.. maybe look up some RUclips video's or ask your local aquarium or pet store? hope this helps..
@@danielgfrostHi Daniel, I am looking at getting my first canister filter. Shop out of Eheim and say Aqua One Aquis work well, easy to get parts and most importantly very quiet. Hows your Aqua One now, still quiet? Great vid, thanks.
@@didee86 hi.. thanks for the msg..My Aqua One is running really well so far! NOTE: You can upgrade to better canisters than the one i got... mine only has 2 trays.. you can get the 3 tray one for only a few more dollars.. I hope this helps..

Thank you. I've been trying to prime and it's often flawed... except for that one time 😅
Hi CAn u tell me is ur filter still working the one in the video the aqua one aquis 1200 and is it noisey think oh getn one for a frend
i have upgraded to the Aqua One Aquis 1400 since then.. just for more power... not particularly noisy

Thanks for the video. Do these make much noise? Want to put in a bedroom but all the filters that claim they're silent are still noisy! Cheers
I have 5 of them should I use one for my 65 litre tank cause I don't got any other filters

@@danielgfrost thanks it did used without the spray bar it's crazy strong
I think too much filtration media up the top, shouldn’t that be at the bottom? On but the bio and mechanical up the top?

thanks mate... good luck with your aquarium.. n thanks for the comment :-)
Does the canister filter make much noise?
not much noise
thanks for the comment

Love the aussieness
Or you can fill the canister filter and the hoses up with water and tern it on... done
In the bottom you out the black balls in the bottom tray put the blue, black and fine then all the media after
I would keep a submersible, any one of them will be fine
Keep the internal hob aren’t as good
canister filters a way better than HOB filters!!!
Put on a shirt😂
really
hello poppies
jamie Bartley *poopies
Hope you kept the waterfall filter :)
i much prefer the internal filters.. not only do they oxygenate the water.. but it gives my cichlids something to play with...
