The reader -- Laurie Ann Walden -- is a great narrator. She has a pleasing and resonant voice. She reads with purpose and conviction. But with the greatest of respect, an American accent -- and a Southern accent at that -- simply does not do for Sherlock Holmes. Think of how many film versions have been produced of the Sherlock Holmes stories. I have read that more films have been of the Holmes stories than of any other single work of literature. And yet,,,,,,,,,not a single sherlock Holmes film uses actors speaking with American voices. Not one! I have no problem with Holmes being read by a woman -- but it should be a woman speaking with a British accent. Otherwise, it just does not work.
I love it. Doyle read with a country accent! Yeeeee haa! 🤠
