Blissful by Dr BMK mama. He Popularised this Krithi .Thyagaraja Swamigal ! Enthamuddo entha sogaso Ragam Bindumalini Adi Talam Tyagaraja introduced this raga for the first time through his composition „Enthamuddo entha sogaso‟ set to Adi tala in Telugu language. “His contemporaries Muthuswami Deekshitar and Syamasasthri did not however take note of this raga. The raga evokes bhakthi and karuna rasa. It has quick magnetic-type attracting effect to any listener irrespective of their level of music knowledge. In this Kruti, Tyagaraja expresses that many singers and actors are after materialistic things instead of immersing themselves in enjoying Rama's divine beauty. How lovely ! How Beautiful ! Who can describe ? Regardless of stature everyone is craving to satiate his desires only. All the bhagavatas (singers and actors praising God) have become slaves of money and do not enjoy the real beauty of Rama. Oh great lord of Tyagaraja, it is like a pot not knowing the taste of milk. Anaysis In the kriti Tyagaraja pities people who fall for lust without knowing the beauty of the Lord. Tyagaraja skillfully broughtout the beauty of the vakra raga through this kriti. The prayogas of the svaras „g m p‟ in the pallavi are masterly strokes. Its vilamba kala movements convey the deena and soumya appeals. The melody starts with the starting phrase of the arohana krama and characteristic phrase of the raga ie. „g , r g , m‟. p n d p g , m p g r s is a visesha prayoga. Pallavi begins with gandhara and ends with shadja. Sancharas goes upto tarasthayi rishabha. Anupallavi and charana starts with panchama and ends with madhyasthayi shadja. Sancharas extends from mandrasthayi nishada and to tarasthayi gandhara. Sanchras are mostly in madhyasthayi. Renowned musician Dr M.Balamuralikrishna popularized this raga and kriti . Nowadays, one can hear Bindumalini in most of the concerts.
It is a Lovely Kruti. You feel the beauty of Lord. MBK sir gives a break after Entha varalaina gAni reciting 2-3 times and then continues to sing kAnta chintA krAntulAinaru
Entha Mudho entha Sogasso! This expression not only applies to Sri Rama's beauty but also to BMK sirs expressive singing. Thank you for this cute song , the narration and the description of bindumalini raga.
Beautiful! I first listened to this kriti through U Srinivas's adorable mandolin rendition when he was a young boy (easy to find on youtube). Since then i keep switching between the two versions. Thanks for the interesting background on the raga and kriti.
Thanks, Murthy Garu, for this high quality recording. I do notice one difference in the lyric of BMK. He seems to sing "muddu" and "sogasu" rather than with "o" endings as in the lovely poster you so thoughtfully design.
It is very much different from the commercially available CD version in expression and conveying the lyrical sense perhaps as experienced by the lyricist Thyagaraja guru Raya
