- Can I survive Terraria Calamity mod using possibly the hardest class to use, the TRUE MELEE class? True Melee class is basically melee class but your melee weapons don't shoot projectiles... it's really painful to play with...

seems fun to play
for part two i would recommend getting devils sunrise after providence, id recommend using a tank setup with this as it is very close range. devils sunrise does 30-50k dps with a post providence tank setup, and about double that with a damage setup. dont really know if it would 100% count as true melee as there is a projectile, but the projectile disappears 9 seconds. definitely check the weapon out.
I have done this myself, and I can confirm how calamity has really outdone themselves because the true melee is actually a more viable class then before. Now you can actually do it, but of course some bosses might be extremely harder with true melee.
The only issue I have with true melee is actually the Murasama. It's supposed to be the ultimate true melee and a metal gear rising reference but all it does is a (rather cool looking) sweep attack and nothing from the actual game. Would've loved to see the gun sheath as an alternate attack or adrenaline functioning similar to Zandatsu.
@@VeraVemaVena bro Murasama animation is way cooler that any other weapon animation tho. All swords have the same single direction swing that has the same animation at the basic copper pickaxe or basic broadsword, then have a bunch of particles

@@hyeumorless4967 while that is true, it wasn't my point. I'm saying that the Murasama has missed potential and I hope they rework it, or at least make some kind of pre/post-Yharim upgrade to it.
While it is true that it is more viable now, in pre hardmode, the melee class in general is way too OP, i personally play it can confirm that it is too OP due to how much damage it dealt, the size is a nice change but along with increase damage, the Night Edge reach 200 damage is something you don't see everyday

It's kinda funny how you have to hug the bosses while having 20 def more than a ranger that can have the boss off-screen

I've only ever played Ranger, so correct me if I'm wrong, but true melee would be so much better if you could 'aim' the sword's arc, so you could effectively hit below yourself as well
Idk about that but Spears (most of the time) are superior
There is a mod known as "Omniswing" which allows you to swing in any direction using swords

@@b0mberr330 fungal symbiote literally turns true melee in normal projectile melee. it ain't true melee anymore.
@@kumguskhan2545 yeah but the shrooms do negligible damage. The main boost of the fungal symbiote is the damage boost it gives which for some reason is applied after everything else
@@kumguskhan2545 yeah but you're not using Fungal Symbiote for the 2 damage 'projectiles' it fires, you're using it for the 15% more true melee damage. It's not an additive increase it's multiplicative, final damage if you will. It applies that 15% after every other damage calculation, so it's massive.

Neat to see a video like this, true melee is actually my favorite way to play the game, completely different from all clases and use another strategies, you have to basically think outside the box by using only swords and spears, and was really good to see calamity buffed vanilla swords and spears

only a true swordsman carries a sword longer than his body while holding 3 balloons.
Something about Dead Cells music (other than being an awesome soundtrack) really fits Terraria's boss fights.
I know they're both side scrollers so they have that in common. Still always though it was an excellent choice your videos.
I started playing dead cells recently, and now I have a new favorite game.

you do have to remember though that the avalanche absolutely creams the destroyer because of all the things its spawns in a high radius. used in my melee play through and the fight was over in 10 seconds
I love how the avalanche looks like powerful while the palladium pike is just, pokey

5:12 ill have to disagree . While the dps is lower , it inflicts frostburn and especially the ice bombs work well with the destroyer . And other worm bosses

@@immentallunstable111 i mean, if you go destroyer - twins - prime then its worth it yeah but if you kill destroyer after brimstone elemental it becomes obsolete due to brimlance
@@v1p_ nah, i always kill destroyer as last boss due to him being the easiest one, and use the icebreaker. No matter what, it kills mechanic worms quicker than any melee weapon of this tier.
@@v1p_ brimlance may be useful for worm bosses thanks to brimstone explosions it inflicts on hit, but still, icebreaker excels against slow or not moving bosses and worm bosses.
True melee is fun but not when you’re limited to it
I don’t know what it is about hearing the Dead Cells soundtrack in the background but it just makes this feel so much more intense

Easier way to true melee calamity is to name your character Jetstream Sam and get murasama.
true melee is a difficult class for a few specific bosses since they are very difficult to get in range, but is so overtuned to the point where you're able to 100-0 most bosses in a couple seconds using adrenaline. that's calamity balancing for you !

All of the true melee fans finally got what they wanted! Honestly one of the most important things about the new update.
I loved true melee. Did it on death mode, and the fact that rage and adrenaline exists makes it even more satisfying.

What difficulty did you do this on ? Most i could see is that it was on atleast Expert because of the treasure bags + activating Malice for EoC for the Counter Scarf.
Probably Rev or base Expert
From what I can see of boss moves and behaviors it was just regular expert, not rev or death mode beyond malice EoC. I could be wrong though.
I think the biggest indicator of this was that plantera fight, she never released any gas clouds, which she does pretty frequently on revengeance and especially in death mode...still, could've just been that the footage that made it in after the edits just never showed any of those but with that arena? I doubt it.
It's mixed, but most of the time it's just Expert/Revengeance, Death and Malice is way too hard for me, especially using True Melee
@@GitGudWO Still a pretty good feat, i was thinking about trying a True Melee on Death but it still feels like they didn't intend it to be a full playthrough class.
You still take insane amounts of damage and hitting the bosses up close is almost impossible sometimes on higher difficulties.

I dont know if it counts as true melee, but the Hydraulic Volt Crusher from the second tier of the arsenal weapons is fantastic for early hardmode. It melts the Destroyer.

May I ask why you didn't use the Submarine Shocker from Aquatic Scourge? I remember it being insanely powerful and being able to face-tank Destroyer with it. Was it nerfed in 1.5?

I played it and i can tell its freaking awful at Prehm(until Nights edge) right at plantera and Yharon, exos and Scal, theyre so hard to hit
Uh, since you know the mod, why are true melee swords like 5x more dmg? (Like nights edge dealing 200 instead of 40-60)
@@SomeCowguy How would i know, maybe its stronger because you have to be next to the enemy to damage it.
quick tip, when you just start go mining to find some tungsten or silver, about 19 ingots worth then craft an axe with them, that then turns into the feller of evergreens which will only need 15 wood extra, that thing is a 40 damage beast with a pretty big area plus it's practically free :)
Surprised to see Dead Cells music here. Phenomenal game, and the music is just fantastic, with my favorite being Clock Tower's track.
Wait, true melee is a pretty good subclass, this isn't even that difficult if you know the best equippment. Like, Grand Gaurdian makes Moon Lord a joke.

Yharon bad, really- he creates a bullet hell, then does his infamous worse-than-enraged-Fishron dashes DURING THE BULLET HELL. Not even SC does that!

I actually did manage to defeat him, though. Mostly through the sheer DPS and tank of the true meele subclass.

@@soulglitcher Really tanks the established quality of Calamity's post-ML. So far, we have:
An early-bird ghost boss that, were it not for the music, could be mistaken for a vanilla boss.
A bullet hell with a pretty cool nighttime variant.
A big worm with a neat little Revengeance gimmick. A void that was just reworked. Signus, which is annoying.
DoG, an alrightish climax boss with a cool first-phase song, and egregious laser walls (though I could murder it in Expert, so I'd say it's beatable)
And then Yharon comes along with absurdly fast dashes and regular attacks in the middle of a bullet hell. Exo Mechs and Eidolon Wyrm are even worse, luckily SC's fight is good (though made MUCH WORSE by the resprite).

I think true melee suits well in combination with the rest of its class, the lack of range limits it's use cases, but when the opportunity presents itself true melee can burst hard. When combined with a ranged melee weapon to fill the gaps, the class gets quite dynamic and really fun.
And i must say you are a legend for doing true melee
Overhaul has a sword rework that I like it adds directional swing and charged attacks that launch you forward and do more damage. There’s also a mod called better melee that adds some new swords and reworks vanilla swords, it makes the breaker blade bigger than your screen.

If you use the avalanche, you get a much higher hit rate against the twins and therefore once you enter rage/adrenaline, you’re able to easily drop their healthbars even when they’re both second phase
