I don't think I've ever commented on one of your videos before (although,I've been binge-watching your channel since I discovered it recently). But I had to pause the video because I have something to say. I don't want to talk out of turn, but I don't know what you're talking about. Every time you show one of your completed pictures, I'm blown away! They look gorgeous and I find that I'm muttering to myself about how talented you are with every picture. I get where you're coming from tho. You can see all the things you want to change or don't like about your work. But I just wanted you to gently remind you that everyone see different things when it comes to this stuff. For example, when I see those same pictures, I think they're beautiful and they make me smile.... and (quite frankly) inspire me to get to colouring. lol
Aww that’s very kind of you to say, thanks a lot! It is true that we see things differently and I can see what I’ve done well but then where I feel I could’ve done better but I appreciate what you are saying. Best wishes.
I'm with you on that fear of spiders thing. I break out in full on panic mode when I see those BIG ones. I sweat, my heart races and my first instinct is to flee. Once I found a spider in my house and I told my husband we have to move (of course we didn't move but....I wanted to). I would probably need medication if I lived somewhere that has a spider season. The problem with spiders is that they jump so even if you put a deterrent down they can still get into your home. My husband bug sprays outside around the perimeter of our home a couple of times a year and we update as needed weatherstripping around our windows and doors. In the last 30 or so years we've had a couple of BIG spiders and several small ones in the house which isn't bad. On another note: I love watching your videos. You are an extremely talented artist. Looking forward to your next one. Take care.
Thanks so much for your comment. I’m glad I’m not the only one who fears spiders so much. Sometimes when I see a big spider, I scream without thinking and once the spider jumped, I think in response to my scream. My husband has to get rid of them for me. Thanks so much for watching and your support. Take care and happy colouring 😊🥰
Enjoyed the video. The image of the bats with the black background just made me take a deep breath. Wow! So gorgeous. and i'm not fond of bats. Not that they aren't necessary. haha! anyway, fabulous artistry K!
Hello k.. your cat is so adorable. I really like your fall/Halloween book collection. I love your completed pages I really like how you use different pencils gel pens and paints on your pages gives them a pop of whimsical. Thanks for sharing have a great weekend
I am not ready for summer to be over, i am never ready 😂. But slowly i have been looking at fall pictures. But October is early enough to start color them😉. I want to sneak in some summer pictures now it is still officially summer . 😂 I have been looking at Kanoko egusa, hannah Karlzon and Maria Trolle fall pictures. You showed some fun books.
Hi K, This video is just what I needed. Thank you for taking the time to share your books with us. I have a few in my shopping cart, and planning to add some stickles with my order. Your cat is so adorable! I am a cat person. I hope you are doing great and having a great week!
What an adorable name for your cat. I love that. I might have to get the Nature a Seasonal colouring book... that snail page and mushroom page😄😁 I was on the fence and then I saw the duck spread.... ❤❤💯
Great review. I have too many fall and Halloween books but always looking for more. Love Rita Berman. That 1/2 page spread you said was colored early in your coloring journey. Love to see the other side completed now to see the growth you have made since your coloring journey started. Old or new your coloring pages are fabulous! Tatianna Bogema has a new Halloween Witch book which is super cute. Looking forward to your next supply haul. Many of the products I am using are from your hauls. Love cosmic expressions!!!
Thanks so much, I have so many books too but always looking for more! It’s like an addiction. That s a good idea about doing the other page next to the one I did earlier in my colouring journey. I checked out Tatiana’s new book and I’ve ordered it, it comes tomorrow - thanks for letting me know! 😊
@@ColouringwithK I took a 3 month yoga retreat in the jungle, and I was staying at an “eco chic” hotel, that meant a shower without a ceiling, bats would fly around my head because they were attracted by the water reflection! The hotel had to place a tent on my shower, because I was ready to checkout after 2 weeks. I’ve been traumatized for life!
Thanks Emma, it’s a great book and they’re just released a new one in that series - along the arcane path I think it’s called (as if you need more enabling! 😊😀) x
That’s a nice collection of images, it’s often possible to find seasonal images in the books we have. There’s a couple of these that are tempting me. Will need to watch again with pen and paper handy. I also need to go through my books and mark autumn pages. I have Molly Harrison’s autumn book, but nothing else specifically autumn or Halloween other than the Colouring Heaven Halloween Special from 2019. You can use any wet media you fancy on Amazon paper if you gesso it, and you are used to doing that. I love how you mix metallic paints with pencils. It works really well. Thanks for introducing Neo to us. He’s gorgeous. I love my 🐈, but she’s so old now. I thought she wouldn’t make it through this week, she was poorly last weekend. But here she is, talking to me as I type. She’s rallied for a bit longer. She’s almost 22 years old. Longer than most people have their kids at home. As for spiders, yuck! I live in the country. Everything is big and plentiful round here. I will never go to the loo in peace again after reaching out to pull some loo roll off the other week and there, coming round on the roll was a very large thing!! Talk about trapped. Fortunately I could reach a spare roll. But then had to call for backup as I couldn’t catch it even though I tried. As you say, it’s the damn season! Let’s hope it doesn’t bring us too many.
Hi Sue, OMG your story about the spider, I was getting stressed just reading about your ordeal. How awful! It’s so lovely you have had your cat for so many years, you must be very close to her. I think I need to prepare a few Amazon printed paper images with gesso I think for colouring next month. Thanks so much for watching, as always!
Good for you K that you scored that AWESOME book by Aurelie Castex! Sorcieres is a book that O have been jonesing for since forever…..alas, cannot find it anywhere! And a shame she doesn’t re-print it. Your Neo looks much like my tabby, Princess Jazmina (Jazz for short). She has a brother too, a black and white tuxedo cat we named Inspector Clouseau(Clou for short). Cats rule!!!
I’ve done a small number of those type of videos on my channel, you will see some examples on my channel but I need to try to do more! Thanks so much for your lovely, kind comment!
Your Cat is adorable! And as far as blending alcohol markers, I have used copics for years in card making and the paper makes all the difference in blending. So it's not always your skills, alot of times its the paper. You are such a joy to watch! I try to never miss a video. Thanks for such enjoyable content.
K, when your coloring in books that have Amazon printed paper what is your preferred medium for covering backgrounds with larges areas when you don't coat the page? I know the paper doesn't handle wet mediums well. Thankyou for sharing you fall books and beautiful pages with us!
Hi Betty. I use pan pastels, silky gel crayons or chalk pastels. Any dry mediums really, even Bambino crayons. Alternatively I gesso the page or use Golden satin medium so I can use watercolour. Sometimes I might use alcohol markers, but not that often.
Great video, K. Thanks for sharing your Autumn books 😊Your style is amazing and so unique, you’re extremely talented. I would love to have your eye for colour. I’ve heard a fab deterrent at keeping spiders at bay is horse chestnut. Get down to your nearest clough or wood, collect as many as you need and pop around doors/windows etc. I think you can also buy horse chestnut in a spray format, although no idea how effective it is. Looking forward to seeing what you next colour Xxx
Thanks so much. I have tried that but unfortunately it’s not been so successful 😞 . I’ve not used the spray just the conkers around the house. Thanks for suggesting it!
Thank you for sharing your fall books. Look up color with Claire she did a flip through of the new Alan Roberts book. Maybe you would like that looks very detailed to me
Thanks for watching. Unfortunately the beauty of horror books are just not my thing, I’m not into them at all. Thanks for taking the time to comment though.
Have you ever thought of taking your Amazon books apart (or cutting the pages out) and scanning the images onto better paper? I’ve been wondering about how best to do that (at least they’re 8 1/2 by 11 and an easy size to scan) but I kind of don’t want to have to take my books apart, though it would be nice to have the pics on better paper.
I share your phobia of you-know-what. I haven't used my balcony in over a month because a giant monster has elected it as its nest. I love halloween themed pages but share your problem with them. To fix that, I outright black out the offending creatures, with black ink or black acrylic. Even if it means obliterating part of the background. Then again, some of yours are huge and detailed and on top of things (shudder). You might want to white them out instead, and redraw whatever's going on around them. For example, the one on the cristal ball or snowglobe on the shelf, you might white it out, then redraw the completed circle of the ball it's on, and just decide the rest is shelf. Edit: clarification
I just use smaller blenders and am careful. When I go over the picture, I just erase the pastel. I think if you are concerned about it affecting the picture, I would recommend doing the pan pastel background before colouring the image so you can just erase any of it that gets on the image, fix with a workable fixative and then colour your image. I think I will be releasing a video soon where I’m working in Lulu Mayo’s book using pan pastels so hopefully that will be helpful.
