Seeing the Universe Class resemblance of the NX Class and name Enterprise ncc-1701 J is an honor, I'm glad Universe Class is in STO and playable ship to fly.
It allowed Temporal Tech, not the Universe Class Starship Design! So not only could it still be out there converted in to a starbase, but it's even possible some are still flying, minus the Temporal Drive!
Actually not that doubtful at all... Starship Classes like The Excelsior, Galaxy, Prometheus etc have all shown to have extremely long shelf lives, 125- over 200 years... And Starfleet isnt about to build such a large ship with out it having an extremely long shelf life! Also, given the conversion to starbases, chances are many are still out there!
I was initially a bit torn about the size of the design. Constantly bigger and bigger, that's like a typically Star Wars thing to do. But over time (yeah, temporal, I get it...) I began liking it. And with your beta-influence and ideas, this is even more impressive.
A Magnificent vessel and a fantastic story. I especially like the idea of repurposing them a starbases, which maybe have the nacelles hidden close by so when required, they can be reattached and the city ship can fly again ready for battle. Very cool stuff, I look forward to the rest of your Temporal Cold War series. 👍🏾
I had a similar idea for the vessel, though my idea just had the saucer section “sliding out” of the primary hull, and after being set up as a starbase, the rest of the ship would be decommissioned.
@@TriAngulumAudioStudios The Beta canon for the ship for me is what they done on Star Trek Online, and yes I had to get one for myself, but the Agents of Yesterday story arc where there's more of what the Universe class can do makes alot of sense.
When I first saw the Universe Class' design on the readout... I hated it. It was awful, to me. Then, funny enough, I got to fly one. Capturing and rechristening the I.S.S. Eschaton was perhaps one of the prouder moments of my career. Once you see her in perspective, realize just how immense she is, the entire feel of her shifts. She's a presence and a half; Majestic and imposing like few things could ever be. And with a few systemic tweaks and esoteric subsystems, she's a nigh unkillable flying fortress. I'm quite a fan of her integrated Deflector Dish - Weapon Emitter structure. It's long been a fact that the Main Deflector is the best part of most ships for channeling immense levels of energy, so directing destructive powers through it by default is a very good design choice. The Universe Class, by standard, focuses a fantastic weave of Gravitons though the Deflector Dish, creating enormous Graviton Lance attack that will penetrate and sheer apart most targets with the twisting pressure of its ejection. It's like dragging a star through a ten foot hole in every ship in front of you. And yet... I find myself drawn towards thoughts of a refit. As faithfully as my large lady has trodden on my foes, I've began to wonder if some day she might enjoy a refit into the Congo Class. Now there's a design I can't help but find myself fascinated by! I wonder if you'll cover that one, as well, with your expose into the Federations dirty little temporal secrets. I am so loving this little investigative revelation of yours.
The first time i ever saw it, my first impression was that it was something like vorlon tech, that just looked vaguely ST like because that was all our brain could make out of it.

Awesome video very well done. The Universe Class. When big and bigger just won't do. A great ship that makes a great statement. However, I can't help but feel that Starfleet is engaging in some hubris with this design.
I remember when the Galaxy class was introduced thinking to myself how nice it would be to have your family along with you but also how bad it might be if anything was to go wrong. If you think about it wouldn't your family be safer at home on the planet or in a large space station? Of course, in the case of the Galaxy class we're only talking about thousands not millions like the universe class. Granted it has all the latest technologies and advanced weaponry but things can always go wrong.

I would think that the saucer section and nacelle pylons should be larger.. A more rounded shape would increase volume to create huge hanger and cargo bays capable of carrying several mid sized starships and why they made these ships appear so aerodynamic when space is a vacuum is puzzling.. 4 warp nacelles for redundancy since the ship had 3 warp cores would also make more sense.. I am not sure about the timeline, I assume this was after the galactic dilithium explosion so programmable matter was a thing meaning the ship should be able to change shape and basically spare parts could be poured out of a replicator water spigot which would come in handy many thousands of lightyears from sector 001.. At this point in the Trek universe what would you consider the civilization scale of the Federation?? A full level 1 or somewhere between 1 and 2 on the Kardashev scale since ships this size should be able to move planets and moons and be approaching the technology to harness small black holes and maybe even stars energy.. In any case why disassemble these ships drive sections?? They could transport huge space stations all over the galaxy and also be tasked to do the extra long journeys..

No, as Starfleet from the past was not eager to name a protocal after someone they were trying to stop from interfering in their timeline... That would be like naming a capitalist program, the Stalin Protocol... LOL
We just built the most advanced time traveling warship in the galaxy, it is imperative we keep this and how it works a secret. Now let’s populate it with 200,000 civilians, families and children. Yep that’ll keep the whole thing a success. 🤣
Look, it's ok to have an opinion, it's just how you say it! So i hope in future to see your opinions in more thoughtful and thought provoking way! Thanks for the apology! Take care!
I can't imagine a reason why this ship wouldn't use Quantum Slipstream Drive, almost exclusively. Warp and transwarp drives drive would be used only for extremely short trips (such as within a solar system), which would be too short for a computer to handle if Quantum Slipstream Drive was used. And I can't imagine why every society in the galaxy that knew about Quantum Slipstream Drive, wouldn't use it instead of warp and transwarp drives, almost exclusively.
There are several reasons actually... First off though, Quantum Slipstream and Transwarp are about equal when it comes to FTL speeds... But anyhow, Going at Transwarp or Quantim Slip velocities are way harder on your ships components than Standard Warp, and also Going that fast isnt always practical. IE if you need to travel only 2 light years between systems, engaging either drive, would cause you to way over shoot your target... Thus standard warp drive is still necessary!
I always thought this ship was made to circumnavigate the Milky Way. Going back to all those species that Voyager met and had interest in joining UFP, plus taking the time to meet other species and do scientific research. Defended by smaller Defiant class ships and shuttles. It would be a generational ship no doubt. Really interesting ship. Not sure if it still exists in the timeline but would've been nice to see it in Discovery at least once.
With you delving into future events, and the increase in technologies that have happened over time, we don't really know about the actual weapon systems and their power levels compared to earlier tech. I think it would be very informative if you could do a comprehensive breakdown of weapons of the times. Yields of torpedoes, phaser power, etc. Maybe a comparison of how they rate compared to other races' weapons.
Im not sure that possible, even Beta Canon doesn't really go into that for 26th Century and beyond, So id just be guessing, and thats not really what I do...
@@TriAngulumAudioStudios I get it. I thought maybe you could find the stats from one of your sources and incorporate it into the story. No worries. I love these videos.💯❤️
I enjoyed your story, I like the shape of it ACTUAL hull.....but that saucer just doesnt vibe with me. Hasnt since its debut, and I doubt it ever will.
It's never as easy as saying "I want to do something..." Main reason, lack of a 3d model! Im not a 3d Modeler, though I can kitbash some together, thats outta my ability! So if you have a 4K model of it, let me know!
I do have a model I kitbasehed several years back an I have pics as well. Just need to have a way of sharing them here, if u can get me a link ill send them...
@@TriAngulumAudioStudios Oh i absolutely love hte lore. That's always a treat. IT's just the design... Eh. Then again as i've said in past videos. The Reliant design really hits for me. Though aesthetically? I'd consider Ent-A to be the peak of Connie design.
As the Class name implies, I like to think the Universe class can go anywhere in our Universe, vastly expanding Trek to, well, everything beyond the Milky Way, ie the rest of this Universe. Be cool to revisit the Kelvins of Andromeda, or those Catspaw aliens, and any other aliens and cultures already known in trek canon to be outside of or originated from outside the Milky way Stargate could access other Galaxies, time for Trek...
Im not sure why you would think that! IE The Galaxy Class was simply named the Galaxy Class yet it couldnt really go far in to the Galaxy itself... The Constitution Class wasnt made of Constitutions, etc etc... Canon shows us (32nd Century) that Starfleet has yet to really begin travelling outside the Galaxy!
@@TriAngulumAudioStudios I've heard recently from another Trek video that the original intent for Tng was to be more Voyager-like, oe going out beyond the current Federation borders at the start of the series, in one direction for a few seasons at least, with little contact with other Fed ships. This was alluded to in Farpoint, both in the location of Farpoint, Picards dialog re beyond which lies the great unknown expanse of the Galaxy, plus the families aboard for such a long one way journey. Idea abandoned pretty quickly, picked up by Voyager, however poorly executed
Dont believe everything you hear... Either way though, it doesn't matter, as it didn't happen, making me still wonder why you would think that! Plus Picards statement doesnt indicate that the Class will explore the Galaxy, but merely that it will explore the frontier of known space... So again, moot point!
I used to hate the Enterprise J's design from what little we saw, and it's still not the "prettiest" but the newer interpretations of its ship type as floating cities in space with a loose warp drive section attached makes them far more intriguing. Taking a cue from Macross, it'd make more sense to be part of a small travelling fleet or flotilla of ships, using smaller more specialized starships for more dangerous missions since constantly putting a floating city in immediate danger seems like a bit of a bad idea (as the early Galaxy's sort of unfortunately had proven.). But as like, the center of a flotilla its a damn cool concept that Star Trek hasn't really tacked. It really is enticing as an concept from the future of that universe and where things could escalate to.
I sometimes wonder if the Krenim (from "Year in Hell") might have somehow been involved in the temporal cold war(s). If the Krenim could have invented a time ship at one time, there's no guarantee that by the time of the J someone else wouldn't have stumbled onto the same design (as part of a parallel or follow-on development). Also would be interesting to see Starfleet's approach to changes (or threats) in the timeline vs. alternate universes (such as the Mirror Universe or the Kelvin "Timeline") and sorting out what was actually a time change vs. the branching off into an alternate dimension.
That cruising speed sounds a bit low for the era. I always hoped they would follow the time travel abilities we saw featured in Voyager, rather than the outlawed nope, forget that we got from Discovery. It would have been far more compelling to see Captain Braxton and his adventures, rather like Pike with a tragic ending that was expected and dealth with by the show.
The crusing speed is quite high actually, as that is almost the same as Voyagers emergency maximum speed that it could only sustain for a short time... Add to that transwarp starts shortly there after and ita very reasonable speed!
You mention them still being operational in the 32nd century and converted to starbases. However... wouldn't they have been all destroyed in the great burn?
No, as weve seen in canon, not all starbases were destroyed, probably because most dont operate off of a Matter/ Antimatter reactor, but rather a fusion reactor!
@@TriAngulumAudioStudios Ok, that is certainly true, since DS9 to name one example certainly did not have a anti-matter reactor. I doubt K7 had one either. less sure about the semi-cannon Starbase 6/Vanguard type but that is ok. But while I can picture them converted to starbases before the burn, it just seems unlikely that a starship that had 3 anti-matter reactors to begin with would have none as a starbase. I suppose a counter argument is if it could be grown since it used configurable matter that it could also reconfigure itself to not need the anti-matter reactors and have all the support equipment in place to use anti-matter.
Warp reactors are really only needed to run Warp drive, due to the immense power it requires to do so... The Matter/ Antimatter reactors could easily be substituted for Fusion reactors, no problem! And that's what happened! Also, we see Starbases survive the Burn in DSC itself, just to note!
- up to a million people - 3 warp cores - starbase armaments - every type of torpedo ever - temporal shields - entire cityscapes, schools, universities . . . is only 3km long?
Sure there is! Go outside, walk in a straight line for about an hour to see the length, than consider that the ship has almost 200 decks and say that lol It is not only possible, but its expected, which is why you're the only one making this particular claim, as everyone else already knows its possible!
@@TriAngulumAudioStudios when you mention 200 decks - I can see it. But some of the images were counter to the stats. Some showed skylines that were kilometers high.
This could be the reason we haven't seen an Enterprise in Discovery Season 3, 4 or 5: the Enterprise-J could have been converted into a starbase! Then again, maybe the new Starfleet Academy show in development will feature the latest one. Fingers crossed! 🤞😁

We just built the most advanced time traveling warship in the galaxy, it is imperative we keep this and how it works a secret. Now let’s populate it with 200,000 civilians, families and children. Yep that’ll keep the whole thing a success. 🤣
Actually, it's the perfect camouflage and makes complete sense! Hiding in plain sight! 😉
such a strange design
Apologies for the neg response. Was being a dumbass. Added a like instead.
I like the unique story told here! BUT, I would love to see the Universe Class Vs. a Mega-class Star Dreadnought!
Time space dust
Sadly, Beta Canon is silent on such (26th Century and beyond) things :( Maybe one day... And Thank you!
I enjoyed your story, I like the shape of it ACTUAL hull.....but that saucer just doesnt vibe with me. Hasnt since its debut, and I doubt it ever will.
I love this design...wished you do one on the hybrid kongo class original ent j design. It was the uss Altair with the ent j saucer section..
@@Jasonjones-h2x Several Years ago doesn't sound like a 4k Model then! Is it highly textured with great detail?
the lore itself is fascinating. I simply dislike the spindly design.
Keep up with the great content!
Thank you! And thats ok, you cant please 100% of the people 100% of the time! I hope though that the narrative at least, gives you a little context :)
I love the 26th century dreadnoughts from STO. Do one for the Durgath and Valkis please and thank you.
She is beautiful two miles in diameter.
Don't let Riker captain this ship, he'd find a way to total it out...
As the Class name implies, I like to think the Universe class can go anywhere in our Universe, vastly expanding Trek to, well, everything beyond the Milky Way, ie the rest of this Universe.
Be cool to revisit the Kelvins of Andromeda, or those Catspaw aliens, and any other aliens and cultures already known in trek canon to be outside of or originated from outside the Milky way
Stargate could access other Galaxies, time for Trek...
@@TriAngulumAudioStudios Canon!?
Discovery!?
You jest
😀
I dont jest about facts!
😉
Not a big fan of the Universe class but I might come to like it.
And thats ok, you cant please 100% of the people 100% of the time! I hope though that the narrative at least, gives you a little context :)
@@TriAngulumAudioStudios It did. Thank you my good tri nary
It really is enticing as an concept from the future of that universe and where things could escalate to.
the saucer looks like a flat disc- how could it fit buildings?
You are forgetting it's HUGE size! So it being flat, is just an optical illusion!
Oh no...
Oh yeah... (Says in the "Kool-aid Man Voice LOL)
@@TriAngulumAudioStudiosthis is not a very good ship I'm sorry 😞😞
That's okay, you're entitled to your personal opinion! Star Trek can't please everyone 100% of the time!
They are definitely involved actually! 😉
@@TriAngulumAudioStudios Any class with the name Enterprise especially this class I will come to like. For example, the Enterprise J
if this was big, then imagine the multiverse class uss enterprise k
- up to a million people
- 3 warp cores
- starbase armaments
- every type of torpedo ever
- temporal shields
- entire cityscapes, schools, universities
. . . is only 3km long?
Yes, and?
@ And? There’s zero chance of a million people and all of that tech fitting in a structure 3kms long.
That's where the holographic trickery (As the video says) comes in!
I assume the Universe Class saucer can separate. Appears ir could slide out from the sides of the central spine
No, it can not!
This could be the reason we haven't seen an Enterprise in Discovery Season 3, 4 or 5: the Enterprise-J could have been converted into a starbase! Then again, maybe the new Starfleet Academy show in development will feature the latest one. Fingers crossed! 🤞😁
We may not have seen the Enterprise of the 32nd Century, but she was referred to in several episodes meaning she is out there!
SUCH A BEAUTIFUL SHIP. WISH THEY WOULD MAKE IT CANNON
IT IS CANON! SEE STAR TREK ENTERPRISE- AZATI PRIME
I love that according to ditl calculator this can travel 300 light years at maximum warp for 4 days
They did the same thing the Romulen's did. Probably misspelled that.
Im not sure what you mean...
