This is a true jekyl and Hyde breed. All sweet and loving to their owners but they know exactly when and why they should switch on the beast. Absolutely love them.
when I was a kid I spent a lot of time with my grandmother and she owned a female Doberman Pinscher named 'Lady'. Lady was large and intimidating but she was so gentle with the family, and especially us kids.
Did yall know that the Doberman pinscher was the first military working dog utilized by the US Marine Corps in WWII. They were trained and assigned to specially trained marines, hitting the beaches with US Marines in the island hopping campaign. They were mostly utilized for tracking of Japanese soldiers, guarding, and even utilized for carrying messages between units under heavy fire.
One fact often overlooked is the Japanese were bush-wacking marines on Guam in WWII. Once the Dobermans were introduced, the Marines were never successfully ambushed again. There is a beautiful stone memorial on Guam in honor of he official Marines' War Dog, the Doberman's. (Google it)
Your description about how the Dobermans only bond with really one person in the family I feel isn't quite that true. My family has owned five Dobermans and all of them have had special relationships with all our family members. Truly a phenomenal breed. And of course our favorite breed as well.
Our female is defiantly my dog. She does bond with my wife but only in second. The males tend to be more gregarious and usually will do better with the whole family.
I have a male dobie and his relationship with me is very different from everyone else in the family. He follows me everywhere, presses his body against me to keep me safe and only let’s me walk him. He definitely only bonded with me.
The Other health matter to be aware of is wobblers syndrome. My vet said my dog had it and would gradually make him immobile which I couldnt believe because he could run like a thoroughbred but it turns out the vet was right and a week or two later he woke up in the morning and began to stretch and he hit the floor and from then on had no use of his legs. It was awful but we took care of him like a baby and diaper trained him. He would let us know when he had to go and we would just slip a diaper underneath him and he would go. He was still a happy dog once we got used to our new life. But he was the most courageous and stowic dog I will probably ever see. We kept him for another year ( he was 10) then we had to move out of our rental and I had to have him put down and he died in my arms. As he died at the moment of death his spirit jumped into me and threw me back from the table! As I walked out I looked at his lifeless body and realized that our bodies are only a housing to our soul and once thats gone your physical being is nothing. I gave him one last command as he was going to sleep and that was to go wait for daddy and go get the birds! He was my son and meant everything to me and 17 years later I still think of him everyday. He was the best dog ever. I think If he would have been a person he would have been like jesus. He hated fighting , hated any kind of drugs or smoke or anything that altered our state. He would go rescue rocks I would throw in the water and dive under water sometimes a long time then he would bring it up on shore...the same rock...and hide it or keep it away from me so I wouldnt hurt it again. Everything deserved respect and to be safe...but by the time he came back I had already got another rock and was telling it that it was a bad rock and smack it then throw it in the water! He would be going crazy! Like no Dad! dont! and I would throw it! It was so funny! so gentle ,so kind, so loyal, so sweet....I cant wait to meet him again later on. There will never be another BONUS....anyhow dont forget to tell about wobbelers syndrome. Its the worst! BTW he was a Very large Red and Tan doberman that came from a litter of 2..Rare! They dont come any more beautiful!
I love the way they look through your soul, their observant & keenly watchful eyes. Their royal stance & unique gait, sold me on these! They are hyper, get easily bored: just like me! This dog has great energy & stamina! 🤘
Baby sat some kids, the female Doberman thought the kids were hers. I had to lock her in a room to play outside with the 3 kids. The dog would get real upset and start snapping to warn, me to back off her children. Very protective, very admirable dog. Rip Sandy.
We used to have a Doberman but we also had other dogs so we didnt really train it and have time for it so we gave it to my stepmoms parents, and i miss her. Shes gotten crazy big and shes a good dog now

When they hear you talking to someone they act like they know what you are talking about. I had 2 best dog's ever and they never forget, and very close to me only always wanted to be where I was.
My favorite thing about a Doberman is their love for their owners they love many family members I know this I've owed them all my life and how silly and cute they can be
He'll want to be your best, and only friend. He's friendly to whomever I'm friendly. He's alert to whoever I show aggression. He does NOT like thunderstorms 😆
a lot of people mistake the playful stance (tail raised and curled) for the aggressive one (tail downwards), although with this breed would be hard to tell if the tail is docked.

One fact that gets over looked as there are 2 types of Doberman. The American Doberman (the ones most people think of) that are sleek, thin and smaller that make great family pets and then the European Dobberman which are a bit more muscular, slightly taller and heavier. They can be a touch more aggressive and need more socialization than the American doberman.
I have both American and European and I would disagree. Neither is aggressive and both are great guard dogs. I believe aggression comes from how they are raised
I had 4 German shepherds, a Malinois. They're great dogs but my last dog was my favorite dog : Horation he had class. I miss my dobe. I'll get another dobe again from European blood.lines.They're something else.

I FOUND THAT ROTGIES HAD ALOT OD DOBERMAN PINCHER QUALITIES. KEEN TO LEARN, BE A BIG PART OF THEIR FAMILIES. WHEN MY 2 DOBIES PASSED YEARS AFTER, I DECIDED TO GIVE THE ROTTIE A CHANCE. I ALSO HAD A FEW CANE CORSOS. I FIGURE THAT 2 OF ANY OF THE BREEDS MENTIONED HERE, THEY DO WELL IN A PAIR. USUALLY MALE & FEMALE.
I work at a campbow wow and let me tell you there super nice and calm and sweet there my favorite and there so cute and quite and no other dogs try them at all lol.

I have a legally blind 10 month old Goldendoodle puppy and he showed me to instead of buy but adopt special needs dogs and I chose the dobie ofc 😜 never had one but there’s always time for a first

I think it has something to do with their historical guard purpose. As in, if they were in an altercation, it would be easy to grab their tail and overpower the dog. I believe! I read something like this somewhere else.
The cropping of the ears and the docking of the tails is not allowed in Germany as well. There is an exception with docking the tails, of it is a working dog. Dogs with cropped ears in Germany are either from a country where it is still allowed or they are from a backyard breeder, where the cropped ears have not been done by professionals.
I have 2 and my male was really close to my dad but he died 2 years ago and cropping there ears does not harm them and we had a 65 acre farm and for the exercise they chase the ATV around the property 3 times
I am lucky enough to have 2, a male and a female. they are my loving companions. I cannot move without them following me, they sleep-indoors and they on alert permanently. the male is more fierce then the female. I live In Mozambique on a plot out of town and, he has already killed 2 snakes o the puffhader type that came onto the property. LOVE THEM, THEY ARE THE BEST EVER.

@@eazydoesit9254 I agree with you, I got a Doberman the tail was docked when I bought him and his dew claws removed, I got the ears done, (Show Cut) he gets walked/run twice a day as Dobermans need exercise daily, I got my Doberman in 2016 and since 2017 he gets two walks/run in a day in lots of work well worth it.

Vet weighed him and said his weight was amazingly great. He got a great amount of exercise every day which kept his muscle well toned
