    Man, I had so many rare and awsome 550 parts and complete skis in the late 2000s. They were worth so little at the time that I gave most away and destroyed a lot of it.

      Man this is heartbreaking, especially now that the vintage skis of this era are so popular again.

      @@HolyGoatsOfSteel I feel so bad about it. I probably tossed 8 hulls in the trash, including a 1992 550sx that had a reed motor I blew up. I had a garage full of 550 and 440 stuff that was worth nothing at the time.

    Super cool video of my yesteryear. One of my good friends (Erik) used to work for PJS and we rode together a lot. I raced X2 (self built) but he just rode with PJS parts. The more parts he built his ski with the faster it went. After a year or two his had a stage III build and was gone like a rocket. Would have loved to had his beautifully PJS painted ski but he probably had about $16K into it. I always wonder where all the skis went that all the employees built back in the day...

    I think the rarest part I ever had was a set of dual dry pipes for the 550. It looked like a huge tangled mess when in the ski. The pipes were soft aluminum and I could never get the ski dialed in correctly, but it was a hoot to look at.

    • @watercrafttalk2738
      @watercrafttalk2738  Год назад +1

      I think it was Dycorp had dual 550 pipes. Yeah, they didn't run real well.

    • @paulyshore98
      @paulyshore98 Год назад +1

      @@watercrafttalk2738 that’s right, they were dycorp. They weighed close to 25lbs if memory serves due to the giant cast manifold it took to use them. Pretty painful working on your ski without taking them off too.

    I started out with a mint '85 JS550 that I bought for $500 from the original owner in 2001 when I was in 8th grade. Took me awhile to save up that money but man that ski was so good to me and ultra reliable. Since then I've had a JS300, 650SX, and now I'm 34 with a '95 750SXi that I've had for the last 12 years.
    Had to swap engines due to oil injection line failure 3 years ago so now it has a 750SX engine, West Coast head, stock 750SXi exhaust, stock Keihin 38's, finger throttle, quick steer, straight bars, Solas impeller (unknown pitch), R&D ride plate, Solas scoop grate. Tomorrow I'm installing a timing advance plate, but I really wish I could find a nice pipe for this thing. Apparently the Factory Pipe limited/wet pipe is head and shoulders above all else but for the life of me I can't find anything to buy for mine. Any recommendations on what would be the best course of action, and/or any experience you guys have with 750 exhausts?

    Love your videos and you have every right to edit them as you please, but just wanted to share my personal experience watching your vids when you include the music in the background, it’s so loud that you can’t even hear the skis or what you are saying. The over all watching experience would be a bit more enjoyable without the music. Not being a jerk at all, you have some great content and I’m glad I stumbled across your channel and you got a new subscriber here!

    I wonder if that's a T-0. It's hard to find those motors overported, or untouched! Regardless, that's a perfect kind of boat just to have as a piece of history.

      Going by memory, the "T" ratings are on the Reed Cyls. We have some PJS engines here, from T-0 to TIII. This piston port cyl has no markings I have seen.

    Hey, its been puzzling me for a while, why on the race start line and shown here does the ski need rolling to the side or lifting to start properly?

    • @watercrafttalk2738
      @watercrafttalk2738  2 года назад +2

      That is kind of a trait to the old, modified "piston port" 550 engines.
