When your cat suddenly dashes behind the sofa and looks at you with that little "look at me!" face?
This part of cat behaviour is all about 'stalking and hunting'. All play behaviour is a prelude for the real thing'. The cat is looking' for interaction from another cat' (that can be the keeper in the cat's perception) and instinct takes over during an adrenalin?driven game. You, as the keeper, simply become part of it.
There are many forms of play behaviour that can be seen to be an adaptation. Cats crash through newspaper or paper bags so enthusiastically because bursting through materials is no different to bursting through undergrowth or leaves.
Cats wiggle their back legs as they get ready to pounce on a bit of fluff on
the carpet because this prepares them for a 'leap' ? a kind of balance check' before 'the pounce'. These play behaviours in domestication are modes of behaviour linked to prey stalking, attacking and predation in nature.

Awwwwe they are all so beautiful. The second kitten the video shows (With the blonde in irs face/ear area) is sooo pretty! And Sparta is a gorgeous cat as well. I have a tabby and a tabby mix - both females but fixed. They came from the same Mum a year apart =) The little one we have was the runt and the mother was starting to ignore her, etc so we took her at only 6 weeks and nursed her stronger. Shes a feisty little thing now, but still very petite.
I'm not kidding, this is the cutest thing I've ever seen! What could be even cuter than that? Nothing. Seriously, NOTHING.

Oh, wow! The memories this brought back. I have Mom n Dad, and two of the 'babies', (babies no more). I watched the 'birthing' clip, and had to chuckle, recalling how Sphinx let me know she was ready to have the kittens, "NOW, thank you very much". Thanks for posting these vids. Cats are a gift. Kittens is a blessing.
One of the cats at my dad's place, who initially was to live with me and my older cat, is under a year old and pregnant with her brother's kittens. She's very tiny, so the chance of her having more than three is very small. She's almost at the size of a grown-up kitten just before they become adult and her parents were likewise. She has a different father than her brothers, so she's the tiniest no matter what and her kittens will probably be just as small as her. It's a lot of inbreeding, but my dad couldn't afford castrating the boys until it was too late. The other of her brothers had made their aunt pregnant as well, but this litter will be the last and will be given to a shelter for adoption, since my dad can't afford having more cats.
If I ever get the right place to live, I want to be a cat lady and help take care of a portion of stray cats as well as have some of my own.
Lol cats are cute! I wish I can get one :( But I cant until 10+ since i have allergies they'll be gone in 10-12 years old
omg! please...you must find a way to neuter ALL cats that you have or are ever going to have....in shelters most of them get euthanized. do you want their death on your
conscience?
I should probably update on this comment. There were four kittens inside of her, three big and one tiny one, that unfortunately died. They were all girls and one of them is at my dad's, another is owned by a friend and the third owned by his friend's daughter's boyfriend. He has plans of neutering the mother and the last kitten, but can't afford it at the moment (They're the last two of his cats that needs to be neutralized) When I get cats on my own, I will neuter them, because I know how much trouble the shelters have after each summer.

I think we know you guys! Everyday a few houses down from ours a cat that looks exactly like sparta is outside on someone's front porch and once a kittens that looks just like on of those came to our house and stayed for a bit.
