    I saw Dionne sing our national anthem at the Colliseum in LA at a Rams game with my late Father. It's a very sweet memory with my Dad. She was fabulous at it too!

      Dionne is a marvelous singer. She is one of the few who can navigate Bacharach tunes well. Who else can sing "Do You Know the Way to San Jose" like her?

    "A popular American patriotic song written by the abolitionist writer Julia Ward Howe." I did not know that! I prefer it sung rythmically and not all 'jazzed up', but her intonation is flawless and her voice is perfect.

    • @waldolydecker8118
      @waldolydecker8118 Год назад +1

      You appear clueless on what "jazz" is and what it isn't. There is NOTHING "jazzed up" about this rendition or arrangement. This arrangement is in the tradition of a marching band, not "jazz." Having clarified that...."jazz" is America's " classical" music. It is the only music originated in America that is taught and studied in the finest music Conservatories around the planet....therefore, "jazzing up" any music, is by definition Americanizing it, not de-Americanizing it.

      you're right one of the reasons why The Smothers Brothers show was cancelled on CBS. This lady could sing the phone book and it would be great, such a talent since her beginning with Cissy Houston in the Gospelaires and the Drinkard Singers👏👏

      @@recordguy4321 CBS was eun by William Paley. One man. He had what was at the time called "standards and practices"
      dept. The "department" would have to hear a song AND read the lyrics before 'approval". The Smothers Brothers were "warned" in 1969 to "stop with the Anti-Vietnam" dialogue. They didn;t like being puppets and so they were fired despite very good ratings. Strange times.
