The U.S., instead of threatening Iran, should offer to reign in Israel in exchange for a symbolic retaliation by Iran. Should the Iran take the offer and later the U.S. reneges (I.E. Israel continues it's genocide), then Iran could resume it's original attack strategy. This would act as an effective cease-fire until the next Israeli aggression that would trigger the promised harsh response. Previously Iran offered to not carry out the retaliation if there was a cease-fire. This would be a cease fire on the ground, not on paper, and Iran could say it's cease-fire offer was extended in the hopes of peace as long as it exists on the ground - even if not on paper.
The report that iran will back off if there is a ceasefire is most likely a fabrication. Iran will retaliate no matter what.
