F-35 is a multi role plane, meaning it is designed to do a little of everything. Air to Air, Air to Ground, Carrier Launch (on some models). F-22 is designed for one thing above all others, shooting down other planes. Jack of All Trades vs a Master of One.
@Henry Lovejoy I mean, i like the A-10, but it's Only Usefull in Asymetrical Combat. For that Role, the Super Tucano Works just as Well while being Way Cheaper. The A-10 has aged suprisingly Good, but even it's Era must come to an End. It just won't fit Modern Times much Longer.
Dude it lost to F-16 in Dog fight and Su-35 is at-lest 10 seconds faster than it in response time with full 360 degree rotating thrusts unlike only available on F-22 and it was never ever proved to be best.
Usman Siddiq the F-35 in that situation was in its earlier development stage with a restricted flight envelope, it was at a disadvantage to begin with. The test was done to observe the (then) current AoA and energy conservation of the F-35, which is now restricted to 9+ g’s and a 50°+ AoA. Even then, it is more maneuverable than fighters with external stores due to the elimination of parasitic drag while having unparalleled situational awareness and being low-observable in several radar bands. While the Sukhois are very lethal, the F-35’s abilities cannot be undermined.
All MIGs and Russian fighter planes have a built-in early warning system to announce the engagement with the US F-22. They make a loud BANG when they blow-up.
Well actually their warning system that an F-22 is near by is several of them suddenly blow up letting whoever survives, for the moment, know they will be next.
ooh well u know your migs like to crash a lot, and they cant make it off that cheap runway that has so many holes in it, and you cant even keep the fuel in it because you dont have the money to purchase fuel lol
Early warning on Migs or sukhoi my Ass!!! Thats why 2 F-22's intercepted 2 SU-35's over the Bering strait and played with them with missile locks. And one of the F-22's even flew under them undetected to check out their payloads and they still didn't know they were their!!! The only way the SU-35's new was when the pilots rolled up next to them and told them to turn their asses around and get back to Russian territory!!! Lol!!!
The F22 is an air superiority interceptor. The F35 is a multi-role fighter. Mission dedicated aircraft like the F-22 will always be better at their specific job than a multi-role aircraft like the F-35. So the F-35 isn't as good as an interceptor as the F-22, but it is much better than the F-22 at other missions like ground attack. Other than both being fifth generation fighters, you can't really compare them because they were built for different task. Really the F-35 should be the F/A-35, like the F/A-18 before it.
But if you think about it. Canada is looking for 88 advanced fighters right now. If this was repealed, imagine having nearly 100 of the most advanced interceptors in the world protecting the northern border. We're currently between the super hornet/Saab Gripen/F-35. I think given the size of Canada's military, it's best bet would be to own interceptors focused on Northern defense.
true but its not even better than the F/A 18 because of no mounting points externally it has a lower ordnance capacity which means less time over target its fine for killing sheep farmers with AK's but I doubt it can hold its own against a per to per advisory like the DPRC
@@jerrydickerson1111 it does have external storage capabilities. Once anti-air threats are elliminated and air superiority is achieved, the external hardpoints can be installed and used OR the older airframes can go in and log their last combat flight hours before retirement.
In terms of their main roles, yes, but not as much in terms of capabilities. Putting the F-15E aside, it's analogous in the sense that both the twin-engined F-15C and F-22 have superior kinematics (speed, altitude, overall envelope), than their single-engined "little brothers", and cost more, as well, being larger and having an additional engine. But that's about it. In terms of avionics, the F-15 blows the F-16 away, having a far more powerful radar, a sophisticated built-in EW suite complete with jammer (the F-16 has very little, just a RWR, and has to carry a jammer pod on the centerline hardpoint). On the other hand, the F-22 and F-35 are more similar in this respect. The F-22 does have a larger radar that gives it a slight advantage with the updated S/R modules, but in every other way the F-35 has at least a slight edge in avionics, due to being newer and having at least as many functions, plus faster sensor fusion due to its newer CPUs. As dogfighters, the F-15C used to have an energy advantage, but F-16s that are hot-rodded with the F110 engine or latest F100 engine variants are generally better dogfighters than the F-15C. In contrast, the F-22 is more agile than the F-35, being able to turn harder at any given speed and altitude. This means that the F-22 is even more geared toward air superiority, which is ironic because unlike the F-15C ("Not a pound for air-to-ground"), the F-22 actually has a significant air-to-ground capability. While it is limited in the variety of air-to-ground weapons it can carry, the weapons it does use are formidable, including the GBU-53 StormBreaker, and the F-22 is very, very good at using them (just as good as the F-35). Furthermore, unlike any other fighter in the world today, the F-22 can drop bombs at supersonic speed and high altitude for maximum range and impact, and has been cleared for this up to Mach 1.7. So the full comparison is kind of complicated. The F-22 will definitely be used for air superiority over the F-35 (superior kinematics, greater agility, and two internal AIM-9X HOBS missiles for dogfighting), but it will be doing ground attack, as well, as it has been doing all along in real combat. And it's probably the very best platform for the SEAD/DEAD role, attacking/destroying SAM sites at supersonic speed using geolocation in conjunction with its SAR modes. The F-35 isn't the only fighter that can do this, and the F-22 is faster and stealthier outside of the front quadrant (within which they are more or less equal).
F22- 5th Generation Stealth Fighter developed in the 90s and deployed In 05. F-35 - 5th Generation Stealth multirole aircraft that actually consists of three aircraft. The A,B & C Type which have different capabilities, for example the Type B is capable of short take off and vertical landing, which the Type A and C do not have the capability to do. With all the Drama initially surrounding the price and capabilities have largely been addressed. With it's export underway, it's per unit cost has come down significantly and now that the F-35 has had time to be tested in real world scenarios, it's software has been updated and the jet has become more capable as a result. I also believe there is an initiative to upgrade the F-22 with F-35 tech, which would make it much more formidable.
To give you a idea on how advanced the F22 is, here’s a comparison: The Russian SU57: Radar signature of a tire. Really ain’t all that bad for what it is. F35: Radar signature of a baseball. F22: Radar signature of a marble. That’s how overpowered it is
@Mr Hansen The SU35 does have 3d vectoring (moves in the x and y axis) while F22 has single axis vectoring. Its moot considering the F22 is made to kill basically anything in the air from beyond visual range and doesnt really need to do much in the way of BFM. F22 is still the baddest plane on the planet with the SU35 struggling to stay relavent in comparison.
I saw a video that says in a air to air combat exercise, 12 raptors killed over 200 enemies with no loss. This is a fighter jet that really can do everything. Like a group of raptors and F35s can be invincible in the sky.
I don't know about 200 but there was an exercise where F-22 took on F-15 and had 50 kills and no losses. The two scenarios were 4 against 1 and 6 against 2.
Well, the F-35 is a ground-attack plane that is just so advanced it can also shoot down other, less advanced aircraft and so is erroneously called "multi-role". The F-22 is a dedicated air superiority fighter.
Yes! The Defense Dept.'s budget includes sth cld. (I think) the Black Box and virtually nobody knows what they're doing. Nobody in Congress, and I think, tho this sounds crazy, not even the President. Let me know if I'm wrong.
The government has black projects that would uproot the entire planet's economy. You think UFO sightings are aliens? Find out what Uncle Sam is up to and your mind will be blown.
During testing, one F22 shot down 5 F15’s before they knew the Raptor was even there. Advanced radar and guidance systems allow one F22 to defeat many enemy fighters.
Actually they have done much more than that. There has been many exercises putting up 2, 3, 4 F-22 up against as many as 20 - 25 F-15 and same thing happened. All F-15 were shot down without having any idea they were even being tracked let alone attacked. You think the advantage the F-15 has had over it's opponents was unfair at a 104 to 0 kill ratio, that isn't nothing compared to how unfair the F-22 advantage is over all fighter aircraft of today is.
Sometimes they put 8 F-15's up against 2 F-22's and none of the F-15's survive. Now compare this to the fact that there has never been an F-15 lost in combat. That is how good the F-22 is, nothing else has yet come close.
The reason the US might be giving Japan special privileges with the fighters is because of it’s strategic value against the Chinese. Especially with the worsening relations recently.
Hey dude, great show. The development cycle of the plane is usually around 20 to 30 years. First flight could be just a prototype. Software is easily updated and can be just an important as hardware, which is any case is designed to be swapped out when outdated.
@@slurp3194 The F-22 was mass produced my friend, I had the fun of watching them swap and fly out all the F-15s for F-22's in 2005 at Tyndall AFB then the years of them training and flying them over head in Panama City, FL. till I moved away in 2014.
@@slurp3194 Depends on the tech. Russian 5th gen is likely superior in terms of cost, performance and flight characteristics but is likely lagging behind the F-35 in terms of sensors, avionics, stealth and sensor fusion. The Russian 5th gen is like a very fast and powerful race car with a nice engine and great performance, where as the F-35 is the slower, but highly advanced electric car with a bunch of high tech sensors and features.
As a kid my old man was stationed in Japan specifically Okinawa as military intel support for the blackbird missions. It was at that time that I first saw the SR-71. Since that first time, the SR-71 has been my favorite. As for fight aircraft, I think the F-15 has always been an amazing aircraft to me
Back in 2013, Iranian Air Force F-4 "Phantom" jets (U.S. Planes from the 60's) Were attempting to shoot down a U.S. MQ-1 UAV. An F-22 was able to pull right underneath the F-4, without the Iranian pilot knowing he was there, observed his weapon load, and then the F-22 pilot radioed the F-4 saying "You really ought to go home." Not wanting to transform into a pair of smoking holes in the sand, the Iranian pilots went home that day. So yeah, I would say the F-22 is the best fighter in the world.
@@chewiesof all the tech on the f35 came from the f22. They were designed for different roles. F22 pure air superiority fighter, f35 massed produced multi role fighter desgined for the air force, navy, and marines.
F-35's are great at almost everything. F-22's are *the best* specifically at shooting down anything (including F-35's). America sells F-35's, but not F-22's. It's a racket that only bites you if you bite America.
but they aren't they carry less bombs then the F/A 18 and F16 and lost several times over to them in simulated dog fights the F35 was the plane we need for Iraq the F 22 is what we need when we go to war with China
jerry dickerson yes and no. You missed the part where in the simulations the other pilots knew the f-35 was there. In combat it wont be the same. There were the same kinds of critics on the M1 Abrams until it saw combat, and many words were eaten.
@@jerrydickerson1111 again simulated dog fights that are outdated news at this point, the f-35 smokes the f-16 and 18. Also the f-35 has a significantly higher carry weight than the f18, only draw back is that it has to sacrifice stealth to do so.
Is that that stupid plane that took photos of my vietcong bases and other shit and how i couldn t shoot it down cuz it flew at mach 3 and it outrunned all my missle's?
"How can the F-22 be superior when it's 30 years old?" The design for it *started* in the 1980s, but the design and technology was continually updated until it finally went into production in 1998. Tech is still continually updated. Keep in mind The B-2 started development before the F-22. We stopped the F-22 for cost. Originally we wanted 750 F-22s, then dropped it to 381, then stopped at 187.
Production of the F-22 was mot stopped because of cost, it was halted because President Obama was Afraid the US would outclass every enemy and potential enemy by such a large degree that he felt the need make sure that did not happen. Why? Because he hates the USA, that is why!
@Domenick Masiello because that is the reason for its production to be stopped. Obama hampered are military and used that funding for obama care and the cares act which just destroyed the already touchy healthcare system rather than fixing it.
My Dad once told me when I was young, the U.S. has technology that most humans can not imagine. We only let the world see our older technologies. We always have that ace up our sleeve just in case we ever need it. My father is a retired engineer for NASA/U.S Government.
@@MrGingerBr3D They already had HUD tech in some of there helmets in like the 70s, and experimental VR headsets in the 70s with NASA(THEY were huge) , that tech didn’t reach the civilian marked before the 2013-Today. This isn’t even the advanced tech they use in aircrafts etc. Also look at the F35 helmet, it has basically AR tech and HUD, they can see targets through the floor because of sensors and camera on the under side of the plane, and they can see enemies plane and allied planes as different colored triangles and circles. Hello Artur, thanks for making these wonderful videos, I am a disabled American veteran. I am 11b which is the number for an Infantry soldier, our equipment is upgraded constantly, we strive to always make our equipment better, it is a big part of why our military is so powerful, we also train constantly, equipment maintenance and training is our two biggest things with our military. Our government makes sure we have everything we need to win, every single soldier has his own night vision goggles, weapons, and radios, when we go into combat every soldier carries three MRE's, meals ready to eat, and we have back packs that hold three liters of water, it's called a Camelback, it has a hose that runs up to your mouth so you don't have to use your hands for water while fighting. Every soldier has a GPS unit so we never get lost, and we are always training in the most advanced emergency medical procedures.....
I was in the US Navy. One thing I learned from my time is that the US has only developed a few weapons of war with our full technology at our disposal. One such is the Seawolf Class submarine. Anything else we build, like the F-35, is just to keep us at parity with what other countries might develop. This prevents them from some how capturing and then reverse engineering to our tech level. Hope this brings some clarity as to why it seems we "under develop" sometimes.
Yes!!! because if the other country decided to try that that's when we develop something to our fullest. Then the other country looks at us and just like "well fuck" as they realize. We are still twice as advanced as they are.
I know this is a late comment/reply but still wanted to give my slight insight as well. Sure, we sell our in-country developed technology and weapons of war to other countries. What people forget to think about is that everything that we sell to foreign nations, no matter how close our bond and relationship is, they are always down downscaled to perform lesser than the US owned versions. Take a look at the Abrams series of tanks that have been sold to middle eastern countries etc. They don't contain the same exact advancements in which our US owned Abrams field. The biggest example is that of which is the uranium depleted ceramic armor is sold in units that are being sold elsewhere. Just some food for thought.
F-35 Haters: "bUt iN a dOgfIgHt" F-35: What dogfight? You're already dead. (Not in direct opposition to an F-22, but just for those who think it can't basically shoot down every other plane in existence)
F-35 is good enough in a dog fight to deal with almost any other fighter i think there are only 4 or 5 (more like 2 max but im feeling generous) total that it really doesn't stand much of a chance against but it is a good enough stealth fighter with long enough range to shoot down pretty much anything made on earth that isn't american out of the sky and since it was built to be sold internationally there is no way it would be on par with the F-22 so i don't really get the complaints people have either because what good is the F-22 in a ground support role or a recon role 2k multirole F-35's supported by a handful of F-22's seriously who stands a chance in that air raid of stealthy death
@@raveousone Well, the only non-American combat ready 5th gen fighter right now is the Chinese Chengdu-J20 which isn't exactly well-documented, but seems to be rated lower than the F-22 and F-35 mostly due to having the worst stealth of the four (it's a big boy for sure) The Su-57 won't be fully developed until the mid 2020's to my knowledge. They're having some pretty horrific engine problems I hear and is lacking in the same level of avionics and electronic components compared to the Chinese and American.
@ Didn't the F-22 receive upgrades from the F-35? I thought I read something like that before. Something along the lines of better avionics that are used in the F-35. Correct me if I'm wrong.
@@kidn00b1 The J-20 and Su-57 are advanced 4th Generation fighters, not true 5th Gen. The J-20 doesn't seem to even really be stealthy at all. Indian fighters were able to spot and track them flying over the Himalayas. The actual stealth capabilities of the 57 are also up for debate.
I remember watching a documentary on the F-22 years ago. I think it was one of the pilots who said that they have the most badass saying/threat I have ever heard: “Beware of Raptors with open claws!” F-22 has one of the smallest radar cross sections in military aviation history. One of the factors is because, SURPRISINGLY, having missiles and hardpoints on the wings of your aircraft is counterproductive for stealth. The F-22 solves this by carrying all of it’s missiles internally, but the down side is that the weapons bay is not stealthy. This means that the only time you can see a F-22 Raptor on radar is when the weapon bay doors open and fires. But good luck even seeing it then because those bay doors are ONLY open for a fraction of a second. Even if the bay doors malfunction and remain open, pilots are trained for this very situation and have contingencies in order to make it back to base while maintaining their radar signature that is theorized to be smaller than a steel marble.
The f23 always included the new 360 degree vision helmet and ya the system allowing all allies in area to fire on target its locked on to such as destroyer sub or other planes and drones
Learn about how jet fighter fight and work than you’ll understand how invincible they are learn about bvr wvr defensive manoeuvre missle effectiveness etc
TheYovanni13 if your radar can’t see it you have to rely on your other sensors so by the time you can lock or track your wvr weapon your dead a amram 120 c has a effective range of 7 miles in that range you still can’t track or shoot a f22 or f35 so you will be dead by that time if there was a real conflict you’ll have a 2 sec to 4 sec reaction time for a mach 3 + missiles how can you not call that not invincible getting killed by a jet you can’t see can’t track can’t shoot welcome to the age of stealth so your only chance is to somehow come up right next to the plane and dog fight it that’s your only chance but can only do this in peace time you can’t sneak up on them in a conflict theatre thou so it is invisible
F-22 has thrust vectoring meaning it can direct the way of thrust from the engine, this is useful for turning sharper. F-35 has VTOL (Vertical Take Off and Landing) meaning it can hover like a harrier and obviously takeoff with no runway.
Enjoyed your channel very much so I subscribed. Very very interesting your personality is what kept me watching whatever you do don't change! Take care and look forward to a new video. Tony
The reason everybody hates the f35 is because the f35is supposed to replace three fighter jets the f22, the a10 thunderbolt, and the Harrier jet unfortunately the f35 can't do what it is marketed by the Air Force the f35 is inferior to the other jets in there roles
@@gustavoarzaga1679 The F-35B is a better plane than the Harrier in pretty much every way. Total takeoff weight, acceleration, speed, maneuverability, radar, air to air. The Harrier is extremely oudated.

That footage to the F-22 flying with the 3 other vintage warbirds was at the airshow at Chino, California. Planes of Fame airshow held mid May each year. I was there for that particular air show.
When considering the F22 Raptor, keep in mind it has been flying since 1997. Twenty Two years, it is an old design. Maybe not to the general public, but if you can try to imagine what has been designed during those last 22 years. It's all kept secret and you would be amazed, as would I, just what is out there. Not necessarily on this earth either.
One of the seal team 6 members who went after Bin Laden wrote they were nervous about the mission until the saw they were going to be riding in a fucking transformer. There was a piece of the tail of the helicopter that survived after they crashed it and had to blow it up. There are pictures of that.
the F23 was a even stealthier jet because it also hiden its HEAT signature because it used the same prinsible as the B-2 bomber by hiding the engine exhausts above a very expensive energy absorbing material so heat rockets cannot accurately track it. also it appeared to have a lower radar cross section then the F22 but sadly the F22 was chosen because one of the prefered peramiters were thrust vectoring capable engines and politics played a rather big part eventough the f23 performed much better for its original purphose but they said it was to expensive eventough the difference wasnt as huge.
Mike Litoris - Time has a lot to do with everything. Your comment is obvious why we don't sell the F22. My comment was concerning during those years and in current time frame, the development of near future weapons has been continually evolving. I would think that there are things being developed right now that will make the F22 seem antiquated. Too bad we don't get to see them.
The last active squadron of my father's WWII fighter group is the 433FS. It is based at Nellis AFB where the F-22 is used to train pilots in the F-22 fine points. in other words a graduate course in the F-22.
*laughs in superior Swedish electronic warfare suites* Seriously, stealth tech doesn't make the F-35 invisible. It extends the amount of time needed to spot and lock onto the plane. A system that is rapidly growing more and more obsolete as detection tech becomes better and better. Electronic warfare suites, however, is the path forward. Ask any pilot who has flown against JAS Gripen C or D, and they will tell you a Gripen can disappear and reappear on your flank with ease. And then realize that the new E and F versions are much better than their predecessors. Plus, a Gripen is much smaller and cheaper to buy, fly, and maintain. It's a small AWACS in of itself, and excels at killing Russians. I wouldn't choose an F-35 even if we got them for free and we're paid to use them.
Gråvargen EW suites don’t work like that... At least not that I have heard. Electronic Warfare and jammers as far as I know actually make you a fat target on a radar, including the fact that many jets can use HOJ (Home On Jam). Plus the F-35 has incredibly powerful top of the line jammers as well.
Seems that the American Propaganda still Works Great. If we limit ourselfes only to Multi-Role Fighters, the F-35 is on Par with Stuff like the Typhoon, Gripen, Rafale or Su-57. If we go for Air Superiority, even if you Switch the F-35 with the F-22, the Lineup still Stands. The F-22 Raptor is quite advanced and powerful, although the F-35 is another kind of jet and pretty much have the same (perhaps a little more) capabilities as the F-22 and is capable what the F-22 could not: vertical take-off and landing. Regardless, both the F-22 and F-35 are state-of-the-art, cutting edge aircraft the US forces definitely need in their arsenal.
@@sheeplord4976 Except it doesn't. For every role it has there is a superior plane in the US arsenal already. CAS=A-10, AC-130 or Apache, Air superiority= F-22, Cost effectiveness= Any fighter to date. Jacks of all trades don't work. It's more accurate to just say Master of none. While all these other crafts are purpose built masters of one. And The US has more than enough resources to design, construct , upgrade and maintain them. So why bother with the F-35?
Only the F-35B variant used by the USMC and RAF (UK) have STOVL/VTOL capability, and they trade off some performance for this. The USAF only operate the CTOL (conventional takeoff and landing) F-35A variant. The F-35 does have more types of equipment and performs more functions than the F-22, albeit the F-22 can do the vast majority of what the F-35 can do, and can also do some things that the F-35 cannot. Neither is better than the other in every way.

17:55 Mach 1.5 without after burners. I was expecting a more serious jaw dropping reaction. F16 fighter jet only hits Mach 0.9 without after burners. Do you understand how crazy that is. F22 is basically 600mph faster than the f16 without after burners.
@@SuperGeronimo999 All true, and additionally there is no guarantee that the Typhoon's engines and structure could sustain such conditions on a regular basis without taking damage, especially from heat buildup. This was a major issue during F-22 EMD, and forced some redesigns and changes of materials, adding to the F-22's weight. Just because a fighter can do something doesn't mean that it can *really* do it as a capability, especially if it has to be disarmed! There are reasons some fighters/interceptors, such as the F-106, had weapon bays even without stealth--it reduces drag, of course, and increases performance (with some trade-offs). By the way, I've heard that the most economical supercruising speed of the F-22 is about Mach 1.6, and it has been cleared to drop bombs up to Mach 1.72 (the only fighter I know of that can drop bombs while supersonic).
The current president’s policies are very authoritarian and very Maoist which in those days very influenced by soviets, he’s brought back an old system, I’m not saying it was better before but the current administration has worsened the state of affairs.
I have a feeling a Cold War with China is coming very soon and China won’t be able to support it after all their financial strain from the corona virus backlash and they will eventually fall. Not to be biased but I don’t see the USA falling or dropping in power. Our economy is too strong and with us being the currency of the world we can just print money and the Chinese are already unflavored by the global community so they won’t get any help. Maybe from Russia but that’s it
The way I understood it, the F-22 was just too expensive to be feasible for mass production. The whole point of the F-35 was to make a jet that was almost as good, but much less expensive to produce (largely by exporting some manufacturing to other countries). For numbers, the F-22 costed 150M per jet (200-220M if we were to produce new ones), whereas the F-35 costs 80M-115M depending on the variant. I think in your F-35 video you thought the jet cost 50M to produce, I believe this is around the target cost we originally projected. This is why the F-35 is so heavily criticized, as it's now almost as expensive as the F-22, and it was originally supposed to be much cheaper. So now we're paying almost as much as we did before, but for an inferior jet.
Roy Scheider in a hamster suit yes too everything you mentioned, management was horrible till them dropped the axe at Lockheed. When you look at the price it’s for the entire lifetime of the program which is a pretty good deal. Not to mention the new ones are going to have 25x the computing power as the first lot. Hardware is cool but it’s the software that is prize in today’s game
The US Navy has a very large Naval presence in Japan. I was stationed there for 6 years. As much as the local population might bitch, the Japanese government doesn't want us to go anywhere.
Well, more like "the stealth fighter that lost the Advanced Tactical Fighter (ATF) competition". Although I do really wish the Navy adopted the YF-23 like they did with the FA-18 after it lost the lightweight fighter (LWF) competition to the F-16
Carrying bombs would compromise its invisibility (all its weapons are internal -- bombs hang from external hard points). You'd be better off just sending in F-15Es.
@@soberpanda4138 Yeah, but it would be about the least cost-effective solution possible for delivering such a small ordinance package. Besides, we can precisely hit ground targets easily enough from further away with cruise missiles. Save the planes for the roles they're designed for -- air dominance.
Being stationed in Japan I can say we do treat them different then other allies, due to the fact that we as the military give Japan a very large amount of respect. Japan after WWII has done everything and more that was asked of them by the allies. Including but not limited to never having a offence type military only a defence type force. That has changed since the Afghan wars, america had given Japan more room to develope its military. America military knows Japan is key to helping to hold the asian theater if it comes to fighting in the region. An example of the amount of respect given... When a shipmate from another ship assaulted a Japanese national, our entire fleet was placed on lock down and denied shore access until the admiral turned over the sailor for criminal prosecution. After the sailor served his 1 year and 6 months he was returned to the fleet and promptly discharged with a bad conduct discharge. Anywhere else is would have been a court meeting and a slap on the wrist, bur for Japan we bend over backwards to keep that them happy at all cost. Second example... The carrier Abraham Lincoln show up to our port for shore leave. Now shes a nuke powered ship and Japan is heavily anti-nuke anything from another country. So we parked the Lincoln 5 miles off the shore of Japan and farried her crew to shore. As the japanese protested outside the base gates. Nothing happened as far as the protestors but we do go to the extreme to appease Japan.
Indeed , there is a special relationship between the USA and Japan . I was a US Navy Military Policeman in Yokosuka and both countries a Staus of Forces Agreement that respected the sensibilities of each nation . As an MPs we were allowed to carry loaded weapons off base , on the condition that we use them discretely and only when absolutely necessary . . During my two years serving there we deployed armed on one instance when an American merchant seaman brandished a handgun in an offbase bar . On that occasion the merchie was arrested by Navy MPs . This was due to the fact that the Japanese National Police weren't trained for Close Quarters Combat and they considered it our duty to arrest an American armed with a firearm . The merchant seaman was taken into US custody and punished under the US/Japan SOFA . While I was stationed in Yokosuka the forward deployed carrier was the USS Midway. The US Navy hired so many Japanese nationals as shipyard workers that the signage on the ship was bilingual . The Japanese were so accustomed to the technology onboard Midway that we could have handed her over to the Japanese Navy Self Defense Force and they could sail her in their fleet in short order . I was on the pier when Midway sailed out of Yokosuka for the last time . Soon after , the USS Independece took her place on the pier over the hills from the drydock . In my opinion , Japan is one of the few countries that I would trust with latest generation US military technology . They are a stable ally , not about to stab the US in the back or switch allience in the forseeable future .
It's the same setup that we have with F-15 and F-16. Small fleet of expensive rediculous fighters and a large fleet of cheaper ones. The only difference is we did export some f-15, but not the latest blocks or earlier blocks with some systems removed/modified.
A important point is training. Regardless the platform, the more training operators receive the more effective it will be. Ex. Take a typical firearm, the more you practice with it the more effective you get with it. To my knowledge, no one trains more than US. On the F22, you didn't comment on the supercruise capabilities, a key to it's superiority. A recent event when the F22 snuck up on a couple Irainian F4's without them knowing and told them to "go home" (do a search, they got real close). The F4 pilots immediately complied. The tech along with the training, is very intimidating and isn't hype and adversaries know that. How about an F18 Growler...but ya won't really find much on it's EW capabilities...another very intimidating platform. Thanks for supporting your allies and promoting peace through strength.
The M1911 pistol was made over a century ago, and is still one of the most reliable and solid handguns on the market today. If you happen to strike gold on something, it can sometimes last well beyond its introduction.
My team worked on the robots that applied coatings to the F-22. That includes primer, Radar Absorbing Material (RAM) and the top coat (paint). That was in 1997. I believe the first production F-22 was 2004, so it's closer to 20 years old.
The US bought more F-35s because they are more capable in a wider range of roles. The F-35 can't launch and land on a carrier, can't take off or land vertically, and isn't capable of using some of the newest technology in the F-35
Pretty amazing how old the F-22 is yet it’s still one of the best if not the greatest fighter jet ever made. Imagine how insane the next generations are/will be.
Seeing the F-22 Raptor is insane. I highly recommend you come to an American air show. The vectored thrust and anti-stall tech lets this jet do some crazy maneuvers. For as sexy as the MIG is, and for as cheap it is to product, it wouldn't be able to compete against the F35 or F22. I bolded the text for the F22 vs the F/A-18 to give you a better idea. Here's the quote from Military Embedded Systems on radar scale: "Among the U.S. fighter planes, the 4G F-15 has an RCS of 25m2, not very impressive and bigger than the older Russian MIG fighters. The 4G F16 has an RCS of 5m2, better but still not great. *The 4.5G F/A-18 Hornet Navy fighter jet has an RCS of 1m2, about the same as the Russian SU-34/35 and the Chinese J-20.* The 5G F-35 has an RCS of 0.005m2, about the size of a golf ball. However, from the rear, it looks much bigger because of the exhaust nozzles, the same problem we saw with the 5G Russian PAK-FA (T-50). *For comparison, the 5G F-22 has an RCS of 0.0001m2, about the size of a bumble bee.* The U2 and SR-71 spy planes have an RCS of 0.01m2, about the size of a small bird. Our first stealth fighter/bomber was the F-117 Nighthawk from the 1980s. It has an RCS of 0.003m2, about the size of a hummingbird, and those F-117s hit more than 1,600 targets without being molested by Iraqi air defenses during the 1991 Gulf War." - Military Embedded Systems
For those wondering what RCS is, its Radar Cross Section. Its how large of a target it appears to be when its 'detected' by enemy radar. The 4th generation F-15 has a cross section of up to 25 square meters while the F-22 has a cross section of up to .003 square meters. This means the F-15 will potentially be picked up by advanced radar systems but the F-22 would not even light up a single pixel (dot) on the most advanced radar displays until its ordnance bays opened (at which point its too late anyway).
F-35 Less passive stealth, more high tech active electronic stealth, ground / air compromise role, 4th gen maneuverability and speed due to heavy electronic systems. F-22 best passive stealth, less active electronic stealth, air dominance role, superior manuverbility and speed.
Not Aliens, humans without cellphones and internet to distract them are actually quite ingenius even though I can't spell that word LOL but never underestimate a bored human and their ability to invent.

I heard those old F22's basically are specialized for air to air to the point where it can destroy anything before the enemy pilot even realizes somethings wrong-" *Missle lock on warning alarm* "SH*%!-" *entire squadron of Chinese jets is destroyed by an F22 in a matter of seconds*
3:59 i do think the f22 is the most advance aircraft in the world, however the f35 has been hated and some consider it bad (even though its been proven to not be) and the russians don't use many migs anymore, most migs (like mig 29) are in service with much weaker countries. Russians use su35 su57, and so on edit: you should look for a video about the f23, which was the other plane going up against the f22 for the 5th gen aircraft in the united states. Most say the f23 would have been a better option and check off all the boxes the usaf was looking for, but politics got in the way
Hey Arthur love your reports on the Ukrainian war, that’s why I started watching your channel. About the F-22 some things you might wanna know. First the radar cross section is about the size of a bumblebee about an inch across, but the cross section on the F-35 is about the size of a baseball. Second the F-22 has thrust vectoring which means it can point its engines in different directions making the turns stupidly sharp. Third the F-22 has the ability to super cruise, which means it can go supersonic without the use of afterburners, so it can stay supersonic longer and go faster than the F-35. When pilots first started to have mock battles with the F-22 they would go up against F-15’s sometimes 6 or more against 1 F-22. The F-15 was considered to be the best fighter in the world and the F-22 pilots would say that it was “like clubbing baby seals” ,their words not mine, the F-15’s just had no chance. The F-22 is simply the badest bird in the sky. Do a deep dive into the SU-57 or the J-20 which are the new stealth fighters from Russia and China they look like copies of the F-22 but they’re stealth is a joke and the china plane is way underpowered. If the F-22 is in the air nobody else wants to be up there with them, they are truly scary planes.

F-35 is a multi role plane, meaning it is designed to do a little of everything. Air to Air, Air to Ground, Carrier Launch (on some models).
F-22 is designed for one thing above all others, shooting down other planes.

You know it’s a powerful plane when the US won’t allow anyone else to have one besides the US and is tasked to primarily protect the mainland

And here we have the correct answer.
true but its not even better than the F/A 18 because of no mounting points externally it has a lower ordnance capacity which means less time over target its fine for killing sheep farmers with AK's but I doubt it can hold its own against a per to per advisory like the DPRC

@@jerrydickerson1111 it does have external storage capabilities. Once anti-air threats are elliminated and air superiority is achieved, the external hardpoints can be installed and used OR the older airframes can go in and log their last combat flight hours before retirement.
F-22: air superiority fighter
F-35: multi-purpose fighter
It's like the difference between the F-15 and the F-16.
Exactly
Well said!
Exactly right...I wish the F-35 was as cheap as the F-16 though. Still your statement is correct.
Ummm no. F15 has way more air to ground capabilities than an f 22
To give you a idea on how advanced the F22 is, here’s a comparison:
The Russian SU57: Radar signature of a tire. Really ain’t all that bad for what it is.
F35: Radar signature of a baseball.
F22: Radar signature of a marble. That’s how overpowered it is
Wow, than can easily be mistaken for an insect
Mr. Nemesis The F-22 just has a better gaming chair

Sometimes they put 8 F-15's up against 2 F-22's and none of the F-15's survive. Now compare this to the fact that there has never been an F-15 lost in combat. That is how good the F-22 is, nothing else has yet come close.

@@jerrydickerson1111 again simulated dog fights that are outdated news at this point, the f-35 smokes the f-16 and 18. Also the f-35 has a significantly higher carry weight than the f18, only draw back is that it has to sacrifice stealth to do so.
You should do a video on the SR71-Blackbird. It's been retired but it's the greatest stealth airplane ever designed
Not really stealthy but more like the roadrunner cartoon saying, "you can't hit me."

"How can the F-22 be superior when it's 30 years old?"
The design for it *started* in the 1980s, but the design and technology was continually updated until it finally went into production in 1998. Tech is still continually updated.
Keep in mind The B-2 started development before the F-22.
We stopped the F-22 for cost. Originally we wanted 750 F-22s, then dropped it to 381, then stopped at 187.
Let's not forget nobody had anything to complete with it until the su-57 and thats just on paper it hasn't even been mass produced yet
Shame they stopped production.
F-22 is a fighter F-35 is multirole. You can't compare them. F-22 is more expensive per plane but the F-35s program costs more.

I am 11b which is the number for an Infantry soldier,
our equipment is upgraded constantly, we strive to always make our equipment better, it is a big part of why our military is so powerful, we also train constantly, equipment maintenance and training is our two biggest things with our military.
That makes sense because the Chinese and others are constantly hacking/capturing drones.
Artur, I’ve talked to my friends in the Pentagon and they’ve agreed to sell F-22s....only to Estonia.

(Not in direct opposition to an F-22, but just for those who think it can't basically shoot down every other plane in existence)
F-35 is good enough in a dog fight to deal with almost any other fighter i think there are only 4 or 5 (more like 2 max but im feeling generous) total that it really doesn't stand much of a chance against but it is a good enough stealth fighter with long enough range to shoot down pretty much anything made on earth that isn't american out of the sky and since it was built to be sold internationally there is no way it would be on par with the F-22 so i don't really get the complaints people have either because what good is the F-22 in a ground support role or a recon role
2k multirole F-35's supported by a handful of F-22's seriously who stands a chance in that air raid of stealthy death
@@raveousone Well, the only non-American combat ready 5th gen fighter right now is the Chinese Chengdu-J20 which isn't exactly well-documented, but seems to be rated lower than the F-22 and F-35 mostly due to having the worst stealth of the four (it's a big boy for sure)
The Su-57 won't be fully developed until the mid 2020's to my knowledge. They're having some pretty horrific engine problems I hear and is lacking in the same level of avionics and electronic components compared to the Chinese and American.
If you are in one of these planes and you get into a dogfight, dogfights = death, it's all about who locks on first
@ Didn't the F-22 receive upgrades from the F-35?

F-22 has thrust vectoring meaning it can direct the way of thrust from the engine, this is useful for turning sharper.
F-35 has VTOL (Vertical Take Off and Landing) meaning it can hover like a harrier and obviously takeoff with no runway.
Type A: Air force version for runway take off
Type B: Marine version for vertical takeoff
Type C: Navy version for carrier based take off

When considering the F22 Raptor, keep in mind it has been flying since 1997. Twenty Two years, it is an old design. Not necessarily on this earth either.

There was a piece of the tail of the helicopter that survived after they crashed it and had to blow it up. There are pictures of that.
the F22 has a lower radar and radiation signature then the F35. those 22 years dont mean anything. there is a reason they dont sell it to allies.
the F23 was a even stealthier jet because it also hiden its HEAT signature because it used the same prinsible as the B-2 bomber by hiding the engine exhausts above a very expensive energy absorbing material so heat rockets cannot accurately track it. also it appeared to have a lower radar cross section then the F22 but sadly the F22 was chosen because one of the prefered peramiters were thrust vectoring capable engines and politics played a rather big part eventough the f23 performed much better for its original purphose but they said it was to expensive eventough the difference wasnt as huge.

*laughs in superior Swedish electronic warfare suites*
Seriously, stealth tech doesn't make the F-35 invisible.

F-22 can even do Mach 1.82 without afterburner, with internal weapons too... the Typhoon can do Mach 1.5 but only without weapons.

@@charleswendt4868 and their government is authoritarian so their grubby mitts are in everything

Great video. I just came across your channel and im really liking it so far. Thanks for sharing
Yes. The F35 is still the best jet on the market.
Think of it this way:
F35= 2020 Honda civic type R
F22= 2005 Acura NSX
The US Navy has a very large Naval presence in Japan. I was stationed there for 6 years. As much as the local population might bitch, the Japanese government doesn't want us to go anywhere.
Thats because of china ,North korea , Russia is threatening japan and couldn't Defend it self that great
US weapons cost includes R&D and future maintenance through the expected life.
He should learn about the YF-23. I want to hear his opinion on this cancelled stealth fighter
Well, more like "the stealth fighter that lost the Advanced Tactical Fighter (ATF) competition". Although I do really wish the Navy adopted the YF-23 like they did with the FA-18 after it lost the lightweight fighter (LWF) competition to the F-16
The F-23 was better the Air Force was punnishing Northrop Grumman because of the cost overun on the B-2 bomber.
I love the f-23 its my favorite plane buitifull stealthy and can do aa and cas
I see everyone comparing the F-22 with the F-35, but how about:
*tapes bombs to F-22*
F/A-22 Strike Raptor?
Carrying bombs would compromise its invisibility (all its weapons are internal -- bombs hang from external hard points). You'd be better off just sending in F-15Es.
@@OneEyedJack1970 theoretically it could carry bombs in the bays but they wouldn't be able to be very big ones

I know the instance you are talking about too. The f22 was literally like 1 foot underneath the f4 and the Iranian pilot had absolutely no clue. 😂🇺🇸

Both the su 57 and the chinese counter part are still in testing which for now makes the f22 without any enemy
The Chinese J20 I'm pretty sure is combat ready, at least by what they say. The Su-57 is going through hell and may not see deployment.
The US bought more F-35s because they are more capable in a wider range of roles. The F-35 can't launch and land on a carrier, can't take off or land vertically, and isn't capable of using some of the newest technology in the F-35
This happens in all fields of life. Specialized vs multirole.
Edit: Nice Hotel California shout out. Is there anyone who doesn't know that song?
Pretty amazing how old the F-22 is yet it’s still one of the best if not the greatest fighter jet ever made. Imagine how insane the next generations are/will be.
Seeing the F-22 Raptor is insane. I highly recommend you come to an American air show. The vectored thrust and anti-stall tech lets this jet do some crazy maneuvers.
For as sexy as the MIG is, and for as cheap it is to product, it wouldn't be able to compete against the F35 or F22. I bolded the text for the F22 vs the F/A-18 to give you a better idea.
Here's the quote from Military Embedded Systems on radar scale:
"Among the U.S. fighter planes, the 4G F-15 has an RCS of 25m2, not very impressive and bigger than the older Russian MIG fighters.
As said in another f22 video, a pilot said, "if an enemy plane gets within visual range, we've already failed to accomplish our mission."
Why yes while it is an old jet the US is constantly changing the technology to make it some of the most technological flying device
I died when you starting singing hotel California 😂😂

Hey artur, react to the uss iowa, the most advanced ww2 battleship.
F-35 Less passive stealth, more high tech active electronic stealth, ground / air compromise role, 4th gen maneuverability and speed due to heavy electronic systems.
F-22 best passive stealth, less active electronic stealth, air dominance role, superior manuverbility and speed.
I think it's crazy how one of our biggest enemies of world war II is now one of our biggest allies.
Your English is excellent. Amazing!

Always a great video.
F35 :let me get my big brother.
F22: show me who tried to touch you.
The dynamic is:
F35: Jack of all trades, murican ultra death machine that is great at destroying everything.
F22: "Skipper, are you sure taking these jets over an american base is a good Idea? I heard those old F22's basically are specialized for air to air to the point where it can destroy anything before the enemy pilot even realizes somethings wrong-" *Missle lock on warning alarm* "SH*%!-" *entire squadron of Chinese jets is destroyed by an F22 in a matter of seconds*
3:59 i do think the f22 is the most advance aircraft in the world, however the f35 has been hated and some consider it bad (even though its been proven to not be) and the russians don't use many migs anymore, most migs (like mig 29) are in service with much weaker countries. Russians use su35 su57, and so on
edit: you should look for a video about the f23, which was the other plane going up against the f22 for the 5th gen aircraft in the united states. Most say the f23 would have been a better option and check off all the boxes the usaf was looking for, but politics got in the way
You know what blew my mind? That you expected me to believe you haven't heard of the F-22.
Dude the us "black budget" alone is more than any other nation's total military budget..they have some shit

It's much more than that. Just look at the Pentagon's last audit.
