Actually the Kyosho nitro usa1 tires were the softs and the electric were the harder compound tires, they were the tire to use back in the day.Good video guys!
Liked and subbed. I just ordered the JCon Tribute wheels and Renegades tires in blue compund for my 1st SAMT build. I was really happy to hear you say that those are the king daddy, lol. There's a lot loose dirt and sand where I run, so I think the blues will work. Thanks for the video.
Just wanted to add this little note after running the renegade blues that he's right about em... Doesn't Matter weather it's concrete, asphault, dirt, mud, or even wood chips those blue compounds grip the surface like velcro grips lint. I have a heavily modded TXT2 running these with 4ws and dual 35t motors. Can't even do donuts with it on loose gravel cause they dig in so the truck hooks and rolls.
Thanks for the comment, yeah that blue is a gnarly compound! They aren't kidding when they say super soft. Still though, we have a few guys that really prefer it over the harder gold. Sidewall flex is definitely different between them, with the blue tires being a bit softer to land on. It's great they make them in different compounds though as it really allows for more tuning options.
Little late on the comments here lol awesome job on the tech vids so much great info I was looking for was totally lost with trying to get into monster trucks your vids solved that problem lol keep up the good work!!!!!
This might be a dumb question but if the Firestorms replicate the cut firestorms that the Bigfoot team ran and the renegades replicate the goodyear that most of the other trucks ran alongside it, why are the renegades so dominant while the firestorms are mostly relegated to the retro class?
Renegade treads are a lot more aggressively cut and grip better. They’re the best performing tire available right now. Also, Firestorms are taller, heavier, and are too big for the Crawler Innovations racing foams a lot of us use. I’d rank them the 3rd or 4th best tire available behind JConcepts Renegades, Golden Years, and JCTs (depending on surface).
I’m new to RC and just got a Ground Pounder because unfortunately the smt 10 is discontinued at the moment. Can you race a ground Pounder if so what should I do to make it a competitive truck thanks
Do a chassis or electronics set up. Also, since Jconcepts came out with the Slash 4x4/Stampede 4x4 setup, it would pretty cool if that were a class sometime in the future.
Great video! Perfect timing for me. I'm converting my Wraith to MT with a STRC Izilla chassis. What would be a good tire for bashing on dirt, rocks, and short grass? Im looking at the Brawler and the Renegade. Thanks.
If you are just bashing then go with what you think looks the best, as they are all nice. I'd Pro-Line w/ Pro-Line and Jconcepts with Jconcepts though, regardless of whichever. Personal recommendation would be a set of Tribute Wheels with Gold compound Renegades. Those will hold up to abuse and still have plenty of grip.
On your honey bee and green monster are you using the stock sized servo links? I heard that the recommended servo link is 162.5 mm for the sickme chasis with 1'' stretch.
Both of my trucks are using stock size, as far as I know. You can e-mail Travis Sutton @ Sutton Motorsports to be precise though, i'm running his setups. TSutton69@hotmail.com
I just started building my shoulder axial monster truck and have been looking at tires why can't you race with the Firestorm tires in all the classes. I really like that older look and thought it would be great on my truck I've got the smt axles with a Ground Pounder chassis. So if I got The Firestorm tires I couldn't race with that because it's not an old truck. Or do I have to go with the Renegades if I want to race or the Pro-Line. I won't be doing all that much racing but it would be nice to do once in awhile how much of a hard time would they give me about having The Firestorm tires on my truck is it that big of a deal
The bead on the JConcepts tires is narrower than the bead on the ProLine wheels. I would suggest using the JConcepts wheels. They fit those tires and come with multiple wheel offset adapters.

robert cupp I couldn't remember off the top of my head which was which. ty.
You guys are killing it Doug! Thanks for these informative videos! Miss you guys on the SMT10 page. I haven't been on Facebook for 2 weeks! Lol!

Trigger King I have the same Pro-Line aluminum shocks that the Havoc truck has !!

It's so funny looking ant the tires behind you compared too the rc trucks
Thank you for this information, can you make another video about the rc bodies and how they made them ?
Great idea, we will touch upon this next month when we shoot some more!

Interesting about the Kyosho tires. I just revived my old Madforce and now I wonder what tires are on it.
Can you talk about some of the tires for non racing event, or like just driving in youre backyard

What pinion and spur gears are you running?

Firestorms are legal in all of our classes.
What tire compound is good for bashing? I like the look of the Renegades but would they be a good bash tire? I'm new into the monster truck scene.
The gold compound Renegades are awesome bash tires!
Trigger King Awesome thank you!
Hello,
I just purchased a set of Pro-line brawler wheels, do you know if I can install JConsepts Firestorm tires? Any help would be greatly appreciate

Where can I find bkt or firestone wheel decals for my traxxas Bigfoot?
If you check out the Tamiya Clodbusters Society facebook group you can find people that sell them on there. Great group of people too!
Do you think it would be a good idea to run blue renegades in the front, and gold renegades in the back? Thanks
That's actually a very good idea! I will probably experiment with that later this year. If you do, let us know how you like it
Trigger King Thanks. I do intend on trying it, I just haven't gotten around to making it happen.
Thanks For Info
What kind of monster truck is the havoc?
It is an ACRC Chaos chassis, Clod Buster based. ACRC can be found here: triggerkingrc.com/absolute-chaos-rc-acrc/

Not really sure on how the beads line-up there, sorry. Hopefully someone else can comment!
