    Thanks I recently picked up a 400s with the 3x3 mod done and an MRD Z-Pro(14") exhaust installed, also the pervious owner put 14/48 gearing on. The bike is extremely loud and always high in the rpm's when on the road(even dirt roads), its loud enough to drown out my mic when I'm trying to record. I ordered the quiet baffle and I'm in the process of raising the gearing, hopefully these will make a significant difference or I'll have to change exhausts.

    I highly recommend you come down to Horsepower Inc. in Indianapolis Indiana on September 11th. from 6-9pm there is free beer and people hanging out. around 7-8 people start stunting on the street. You'll see all sorts of bikes there. And because i'd love to hear the bike in person.

      FaStAsAfLaSh192 I checked out the event on Facebook. It looks like a good time! I actually lived just south of Speedway on 10th street for a couple of years back in 2014. I enjoy that area and love going back there. Unfortunately I’m scheduled to attend a week of training that I really don’t want to miss here in a week or so, and I’m trying to remain healthy until then. I noticed Motorcycles on Meridian is scheduled for October 10th. I might head up for that!

    Bike looks great, I have the exact same stock bike and live in Indiana too! I’m looking to put on a full MRD system and JD jet kit on mine. Did you run into any issues with the smog equipment? Did you leave it on or remove and block off the plate? Ride safe man!

      Ian H, good to hear from a fellow Indiana resident! All smog equipment was left as it was from OEM. You don’t have to touch any of it to complete these mods (JD jets, 3x3 and exhaust). At least not for non CA models: I’m not sure if that changes anything... but you don’t have to worry about that! At any rate there were no issues with smog equipment. Good luck man, enjoy your DRZ!

    Nice bike man 🔥 Just i quick question, did you experience any backfire with the MRD? I get like gunshots when letting of the throttle. Thanks for the answer 🙏

    • @FishStick_ADV
      @FishStick_ADV  Год назад +1

      Is it multiple bangs, or just one loud pop? Somewhat frequently I’ll get one solid pop when shifting between gears. I assumed this was the PAIR valve doing it’s job since I’ve got a 2019. If I just let off the throttle and decelerate via the engine, it doesn’t pop at all. If it’s popping a lot, you might have an air leak somewhere. A vacuum line perhaps? Dumb question but has your machine been re-jetted after the pipe? It’ll run lean if not, and this often causes a lot of popping on deceleration.

    • @FishStick_ADV
      @FishStick_ADV  4 года назад +3

      Honestly, I don’t blame you. Knowing what I know from owning the MRD, I may have went with something different myself. I think the MRD is a great product, but it’s purpose built. It’s a competition exhaust. If you’re not planning a big horsepower build (and I’m not) you don’t NEED it unless you just like the aesthetics or want to make noise... which is cool too! Everyone has different wants.

    • @tpow2651

    • @srfsno_
      @srfsno_ 4 года назад

      Cody Woods Thanks for the video and comments. I’m currently looking at the Yoshi RS2, MRD standard length, or the MRD Shorty (with quiet insert and arrestor) like you got. I’m noise focused more than performance focused. I REALLY like the look of the Shorty. If you had to do it over again, would you compromise on the looks and get the Yoshi or compromise on the loudness/sound and get the MRD Standard or Shorty?

    • @FishStick_ADV
      @FishStick_ADV  4 года назад +1

      SRFSNO, don't tell anyone, but I'm currently cheating on MRD. I've got an RS2 sitting on my living room floor at the moment and am planning to install in the next couple of weeks. I REALLY like the look of the shorty MRD, but the noise has gotten the better of me. My riding buddies complain a little, and I like to ride for long periods of time and after a while the volume takes a toll. If I had to do it all over, I'd say I'd probably get an RS2 and compromise on the aesthetics, but I can't say that with 100% certainty yet since I have not installed the RS2 and heard it for myself at this moment. I'll publish a video on this exact topic soon. Choosing between MRD and Yoshimura seems to be a common issue and I'm going to try to put information out there to help people make the right decision the first time.

    YES! WAY TO LOUD! That pipe ruined the hearing in my left ear. I didn't even have the shorty so I imagine it's even worse. I switched to FMF and it's much ,much better but I have permanent Tinnitus now, from the MRD pipe...

    • @FishStick_ADV
      @FishStick_ADV  Год назад

      Ugh… I hate this for you. I also suffer from tinnitus in both ears. I’ve heard it every day for as long as I can remember. It’s gotten worse over the years. I had it well before the pipe, but the pipe likely didn’t help. My hearing troubles are what prompted me to measure the audio level of the pipe in one of my more recent videos. The MRD easily punches through 120dBa. I now run Yoshimura RS-2. If you haven’t seen that video it’s interesting, but this is a huge issue in my opinion. Not with MRD specifically, but with motorcycles and the nature of our hobby in general. Motorcycles are loud and I just hope people are aware and prepare themselves for it. I always wear earplugs under my helmet. No matter what. Even this method has limitations in low frequencies, but that’s another subject entirely. Thanks for sharing, and for what it’s worth I really hope your tinnitus goes away.

    Is there a difference between sizes or is it just an aesthetic preference?

    • @FishStick_ADV
      @FishStick_ADV  4 года назад +1

      I chose the shorty based on aesthetic preference. I know there is data published on Thumper Talk that shows the 12 inch shorty is a few dB louder than the standard 14 inch Z-Pro muffler. I am not aware of any studies on power output, though I can't imagine there being any real difference between the two. I reasoned that either option was going to be loud, so I purchased based on what seemed more aesthetically pleasing to me.

    Random question, when you lift the bike up from the back is there slack in the swing arm ? Idk if that makes sense but

    • @FishStick_ADV
      @FishStick_ADV  3 года назад

      My rear suspension definitely has some static sag. If I lift up on the rear I’ve got some “slack” in the swing arm if that’s what you mean. The amount of static sag is dependent on your suspension setup, but everyone should have some. Now if you are able to lift up on the rear end and get a pop sound with free some free play out of the very end of the suspension travel you likely have worn bushings. Just trying to hit all the bases since I’m unsure precisely what you mean by slack.
