Icom IC-756 PROIII MARS/CAP Modification EXPANDED TX

HI All, Video Tutorial on How to perform expanded TX mod on ic-756Proiii. The procedure is the same on the IC-756Proii. This is a very simple mod, but don't try it if you don't have some soldering experience, because you could damage your radio. TAB Productions is not responsible for radio damage! This mod worked on my rig, perform this mod at your own risk!

Nice! Better have good eyesight and a super steady hand! One thing I've never seen is how to turn the hf output power up! Most of the 756 radios barely make 80 watts, unless you turn them up. JUST SLIGHTLY!! Only to 100 watts!! They'll go to 150, but DON'T DO IT!! You'll blow the finals if you like to rag chew and key down too long! But going to a full 100 increases your "talk power" quite a bit!

Interesting! I usually go by what's the output on RTTY/ FM or something like that.... it's harder to tell on SSB unless you have a really good PEP meter. You're right, there's no need to exceed 100 watts. That's what they're designed for and going over that stresses the finals to much for very little gain...

Re the IC-740 question: it is a ham-band-only radio. It has no general coverage receive architecture. If there is a MARS mod, it will be one that extends the band edges.

Ah yes everyone likes look computer style radios but I still like the older just little harder to use but I still have a ts 440 but I have to give my drake time to warm up but she's a beast but give thumbs 👍up
