but nora never cheats on her husband? and hae sung went to new york when it was too late. he also only went when he broke up with his long term girlfriend- maybe wondering if nora would just leave her husband for him... which she didn't and he proved why she wouldn't. nora's husband was very healthy in the situation, letting nora connect with an old friend- even if they had romantic feelings for each other in the past. he wasn't insecure and he completely understood everything that was happening. the amount of things arthur had done for nora proves just how much he loves her and why she would never leave him- because he committed himself to her, whereas hae sung couldn't, because he and nora were to similar. very long winded explanation of how i viewed the movie and characters lol

@@JennaStreich At the same time: that man does not exist, there is no such thing as a man or person that would not feel incredibly sad, uncomfortable, and upset in a situation where their wife DOES decide to meet the person they know has romantic intentions towards them. Although, yes, she didn’t cheat, they were very close to cheating. Cheating is about allowing it to happen, she would never have met him if there was never a chance of anything more. Closure only came after finding out there was nothing more. If they met, and fell incredibly in love, she would have left her husband, there was a chance of this happening as she went to meet him in the first place. From the Husbands point of view, knowing their wife was willing to look at the “what if?” shows that their relationship is not strong, as in a strong relationship that “closure” would never be needed as they would already be happy and content. Meeting someone like hae sung is ALLOWING emotional cheating, even if it does not get physical. She emotionally cheated on Arthur by purposefully entertaining a man who had romantic interests towards her.

She met with a man who wanted her to leave her husband. That is fucking horrible? Imagine if your boyfriend/girlfriend did this? Everyone I’ve talked to they say “I’m not as emotionally mature as Arthur so I would be angry”. My belief is that it ISN’T immature, the fact is the act is hurtful and wrong. Arthur does not exist.

It’s just a normal human reaction to something that is clearly morally wrong. I get nothing happened but the fact that in the film it’s even MENTIONED as a “What if?” (i mean thats the ENTIRE point of the film), it just shows that in real life this scenario can lead to a very very different outcome. One that CLEARLY was allowed by how the characters acted from the very start, but that outcome would never be possible if the characters didnt allow something like “Meeting with someone who literally wants you to leave your husband”.

@@BuTTerJaFFaS why are you only mad at nora? you SHOULD be mad at hae sung for even entertaining the idea of thinking that nora would ever leave her husband for him the first place. also, her going to see him and show him around new york was not her "emotionally cheating" on arthur-- hae sung had literally never been to america and barely spoke any english-- and nora is the only person he knew-- so of course she went to see him. also men like arthur DO exist actually! and you must be to emotionally immature to be in a relationship, because if you have been married to someone for a DECADE and you can't trust them to go on TWO or THREE outings with someone from their past? that's toxic! nora KNEW they wouldn't work out, so that's why she ended things when they were skyping everyday. SHE was also constantly evolving as a person, where as hae sung stayed in one place. the one question hae sung would ask nora every time they spoke was "what kind of award are you chasing after now?" and her answer was always different. whereas nora would always say how hae sung had never changed. it's not a crime to wonder what your life would have looked like if you had made different decisions 10 years prior. all i'm saying is that this isn't all on nora-- hae sung is the one that went to new york in the place. HE is the one that was curious-- not nora.

    Poor things is definitely overhyped.
Way too long with too many sex scenes.
Its idea was thought provoking and definitely stayed with me after the movie was over but with a shorter runtime would have been more enjoyable, the whole Paris sequence felt way too long. Emma deserved her 2nd Oscar for that performance tho!
