I've been listening to some smile mixes. At first I was skeptical of yours because I was extremely tied to other Heroes and Villains versions. But then every time I caught myself saying "Hey! He did that!" and "Wow this fits in here smoothly". Not a great connoisseur of remixes and mixing in general, but for the SMiLE narrative, and musically speaking, I believe this is very, very, well mixed and well thought-of. Really a symphony. Congrats, guy. It would've blown minds back in 1967, and still I think that, as Brian himself said, people wouldn't have understood it. If that is any close enough to what Brian imagined, then I can only say he is not from this world lmao. Pretty fantastic!
@@JackMakesThings98 I will! Yours is great. I got another perception of it that sounds more accurate and less "single-ish" than the SMiLE Sessions. Pretty good!
This is really good. Around 30 years ago, I used to trade bootleg audio tapes of outtakes of the unfinished smile album. I used to exchange them with other fanatics. I would copy their tape and they would copy mine and so on. The tapes included bits and pieces of the songs, sometimes 10 different versions of the same song on one tape. This mix and collection is outstanding. We would have lost our minds with this.

Teenage symphony to God, indeed! Not only is this beautiful and complex, but -- more than any other manifestation of SMiLE I've heard -- this mix delivers on the playfulness, the sense of humor that Brian Wilson promised would be part of Dumb Angel.

@@JackMakesThings98 Also, one more question: I would LOVE to listen to your old mix again, the one released just before this version! Not that it's better than this one, it's just that mix was the first version of Smile I ever listened to, so it's a bit nostalgic for me. I love the old tracklisting with the "Our Prayer" / "Wonderful" intro, the transitions (like into Vega-Tables and Cabin Essence), the mix of "The Elements" (which is still my favorite) and so on. If you could send me the link (if it's on an unlisted RUclips video, drive, or something else) that would make my day! Cheers!
