One of the few EVs I really like, especially for that California Mode. I used to drive like that with my dad's old Jeep Grand Wagoneer: all windows down plus tailgate window down. (We used to call it the Grand Wag'O'Fear because it tried to kill us several times after my dad died.)
4 days into driving my Ultra. Loving it so far! Was terrified about the hill rollback situation (flashbacks to driving standards) as I live in a hilly city. Went to test it late at night and had 0 rollback. Maybe there has been an update as the braking is also not having the issues described. Did have issues with the lane assist and emergency braking out errors when driving the in rain, back to no errors now that it’s dry.
Because Teslas are even worse? Everybody knows that. Teslas are economy cars. Doesn't make the Fisker Ocean a good car. Get yourself a KIA EV9 or the upcoming Hyundai Ioniq 7 if you look for a large SUV with real quality. More general: any premium brand from Europe, especially Germany, or Korea.
@@BBingo-v5i it all depends on what the buyer thinks a “good car”. For me it is simplicity, efficiency, almost no upkeep, great software, and speed. Tesla checks all those boxes for me. For others, they may want a quality interior like a BMW or Mercedes, which are better in that regard.
@@BBingo-v5i sorry bud I drove both Kia and Hyundai, not even close to Fisker. I dont know what you are talking about or how did you come to this conclusion....
@@BBingo-v5iplease, i’ve had the (mis)pleasure of driving those Kia’s and Hyundais (Ioniq 6) and all i can say is what they lack in class and subtlety, they make it up with cheesy flair and design elements that seldom blend aesthetically from front to side to rear. Hard pass..
Fisker will never get their tech in order. I told people this would happen consistently for two years before Fisker started production, for another seven months while Fisker pretended to be in production before starting to deliver the car, and here we are. When Fisker got a billion dollars from the SPAC "merger" the company was Henrik Fisker, his wife, and seven employees. The software engineers available for Fisker to hire were the ones who could not find or keep jobs in a world of automakers desperately hiring good software engineers by the tens of thousands. Volkswagen hired 5,000 just to try to make their EV UI, and fail pretty badly. GM's latest EV also having some serious UI problems. Fisker got the guys and gals Volkswagen and GM turned away. EV startups manage to make good UIs, Lucid and Rivian and of course Tesla have done it well, but they are led by tech people, and Henrik Fisker is legacy automaker to his core. The UI lags? Well, it is better than the UI for his first startup, where owners were breaking the screen trying to get it to respond. The company that bought Fisker Automotive out of bankruptcy spent two years re-writing the UI software. Fisker shipped these cars before the UI was complete because it will never be complete.
I had the opportunity to test drive the Fisker yesterday. I was surprised to see Fisker at a meetup at the Smithfield outlet mall in NC. The model I drove had a sticker price of about 73K. I really enjoyed the car although I wasn't blown away. I don't think I'm going to buy one yet as I have some concerns. First of all, it's way overpriced. I could go out tomorrow and buy a Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited for less than 50K and it's a nicer car. The electric cars in general are way out of line in their cost structure, Secondly---and this is the primary reason I'm waiting---I have concerns that Fisker will even survive. They're not selling or producing a lot of cars at this point. Their stock is down to about .75 cents a share. They have very little cash and without an infusion they won't survive. So, if I go out and buy a Fisker it's highly likely that they won't exist in two or three years. So, where would I get parts or service if needed? I'm certainly interested but I'm waiting for a while.
I ordered one, but I didn't order things like the solar roof which is expensive and has very low output. It came in about 63K. That is less than an Audi, BMW or Mercedes. It is a beautifully built and designed SUV. Who puts a little dog nose window in their car! Fisker does. The design inside and out is clean and uncluttered. My test drive went great. This car is fast!
@@billbixler8534 Bill, please don't misinterpret my comments. I also liked the car very much. It's beautifully designed, I just felt it was overpriced----although I'll concede that other cars in it's space are equally as pricey if not more so. But my greatest concern about Fisker is it's ability to survive. It's stock is just about worthless, trading this morning at a little over 12 Cents per share. They have halted production because they are sitting on about 4,500 units that they haven't been able to sell. And the reality for Fisker is that unless they get a big cash infusion or some sort of lifeline, they will not survive. So, it's quite likely that you have bought a car from a company that will not exist six months from now.
I totally agree. I impulsively bought it in 2020 and committed in 2022 knowing that any car would be a step up to my 2011 Ford taurus limited. The early adopter penalty is definitely felt, but I must admit that I love driving the fisker ocean one. I feel it to be a very comfortable ride and really fun given how nimble it is for its size and weight. I'm rooting for fisker. Hope I can keep enjoying their vision
But in this case it is just an example of why not to buy a Fisker. His last company had an awful UI too. He is a legacy automaker and his companies are as adept with software as Volkswagen is, but with a lot less time and money and employees, and using software engineers who could not get hired for the flailing EV UI projects at Volkswagen or GM or other companies. If Fisker was to survive five years, the ADAS system still would not be functioning.
I bought a 2024 impreza six months ago and have already had a recall and my screen went blank because of a loose connection. You are correct on the fact of not being the first to buy a vehicle if not willing to deal with some kinks. It's not just a fisker problem.
@@BartSantello agreed. Delivery of updates, I desire more, but Fisker has done wonderful providing support and addressing opportunities quickly. If only they had a centralized system that didn't hand calls off to different individuals asking for the same info over and over. Sweet ride tho. Love this car
The limited boost thing is stupid. They'll get rid of it when the vehicles sales fall below expectations. My wife's I-Pace is built by Magna as well. Build quality is great. Hopefully they won't replicate the mechanical, electronic, and software faults present in the I-Pace.
As far as I have read or seen on videos, all you stated is present. Fisker head is a designer not an engineer or businessman & his legacy of failures follow him.
@@edornelas8275 Only because badly informed people like to pretend being smart and make posts like yours. 4 miles per day of solar is actually a really big deal...positive trickle charge is a million times better than trickle losses when parked. Park it nearly dead in the long term airport parking and come back 2 weeks later and it's got 56 miles. The ones that sit on dealer lots might never need to be charged during the month or two that they sit there, recouping the miles from a test drive here and there.
Agreed if they fix their issues that's probably what will sell it for me. Because hey even if the world ends you'll have a car that can do a hours worth of walking/carrying stuff a day :D
My 2023 Porsche Macan S which I’ve owed for a year still has software issues. That’s the new normal, from phones to washing machines. I’ve driven the Ocean and Kia EV6, Ocean wins hands down. Expect the software and features to improve, lets give them a little run time
Thank you for the review ! Just took delivery of my Fisker Ocean in blue Best car I have ever owned ! The build quality is way better than my previous Porsche, Mercedes, BMW and Lexus It’s way cheaper to drive than my previous Toyota Prius So much fun to drive and I get looks and questions every where I go! Thank you Fisker !
I saw one of these at the mall and got into it. It’s rly small, managed to bang my head on the pillar, no frunk, small trunk, terrible software, I’m not sold at all. I don’t see this car selling at all, time will tell.
Imagine paying for a feature on a new car and not getting it right away, or knowing when it will arrive. Oh wait, Fisker learned that from Tesla didn't they? How is this remotely acceptable? Why are we giving these startup companies a free pass? Can you imagine the roasting that Cadillac would get if you paid for Super Cruise but didn't get it, and they didn't say when you would? People would be driving them through the front window of dealerships. This garbage needs to stop.
Actually Lyriq didn’t have super cruiser ready when they were just released. I don’t mind buying a car and waiting for updates if I had confidence that these updates will come. I got my rivian pretty early and it was nice getting frequent updates over time. But this ocean seems to be less prime time and missing a lot more features than the rivian at launch. I recently saw one and it didn’t seem to be worth $70k.
How did tesla do this? If you are referring to the Full Self Driving package, it has always been called the FSB BETA, which literally means it isn’t finished…anyone buying it expecting a complete product wasn’t paying attention.
These are options. If you don't want them don't pay for them. Appears that plenty of people will pay for stuff now with hopes of actually getting them in the future.
@@grahamsiebring5227 Come now, really? How long have you been in the Tesla world? When they first launched FSD you got......NOTHING. Not even Beta. Oh, and don't get me started on full price "pre-orders" for the mythical roadster. Not $100 deposits. Full payment.
Limited to only 500 hard launches! Why the limit? I haven’t seen any other manufacturer do this. Does this mean the battery or the motors or both are inferior to other manufacturers? Are other manufacturers hiding something as well? Whatever the answer is yet another reason to not buy an EV. Especially this $70,000 example.
Fisker claims they will reset it, after vehicle inspection. I own Fisker for 4 months, and tried Hyper only few times, more than enough, trust me. Boost mode is overkill. Very solid EV, built by Magna Steyer. Magna also builds G-Wagons for MB, Z4 and X5. Build quality is there. The real issue is software, definitely needs a lot of work. But with upcoming updates they should fix it.
OP, your last statement is a personal one, and your welcome to it-BUT-its flawed. You are of the passive anti-EV crowd, and do not seek to know more, says this EV owner
@@harriettanthony7352 I think EVs have a definite place in the transportation network. This is a rapidly evolving automotive platform. It has its pros and cons. It is not friendly to DIY repair like ICE technology is. The owner is at the total mercy of the manufacturer which is never a good thing. It also all but kills off small independent garages. Last but not least is the issue of main battery recycling. Which an internet search reveals is far from straight forward and very toxic to the environment and people if not done correctly. And when in history have companies run afoul of safety regulations for both workers and the environment? Having said this I respect your right to own an EV but don't presume no know my overall assessment of a technology and its practical application. Also there is nothing wrong with asking thought provoking questions even if they are pointed and make one uncomfortable.
I love the fact that this car has 2500 miles of free solar charge per year! If they can increase that to 5,000 miles!! THEN BOOM I WOULD NEVER HAVE TO CHARGE THE CAR! there are tons of people that only do 5k or less! This car solves a huge issue!
This morning, I learned about the bankruptcy but after some research I'm even more confused about what will happen. I did read that the Ocean will likely be sold for $14K but will have limited features and no future updates. I suppose if Fisker owners are on some kind of subscription plan, whatever company that emerges will still provide some support and services.
After owning my Fisker Ocean Ultra six months I noticed that when every I get in my Fisker in the morning in side my garage the temperature inside my car is very warm. Is this normal with all electric cars? - is the heat coming from the battery pack while sitting in my garage over night?
here's an anecdote.. I was at LAX parking garage, first time seeing a Fisker Ocean. It was sounding the alarm non-stop... not sure what was triggering it as the owner wasn't there and it was at the charging spot of the parking lot.
And if the material is claimed as "real Alcantara" it should be. There a lot of cheap synthetic suedes out there that don't meet that quality standards of Alcantara.
I have one and the audio is very sharp and clean. However, it does appear as though the audio system is not fully activated yet like many parts of the car. The rear speakers never seem to fill the cabin as well as I had hoped, even with the balance and fade at 0 offset. Hope this is addressed with a software update because it sounds like the system has more to deliver.
@@fjkbravoyt I got it in October and have had two updates. A third is available and was supposed to be pushed to my car already, but perhaps it’s not getting to my car in the garage. Mine doesn’t have wi-fi OTA updates yet.

Also, it has full power pretty much ALL percentages and temperatures and charges from 10 to 80 percent in 18 minutes and costs $60k. Oh well. Good luck Fisker hope you get enough suckers to keep my GT rare unlike a Tesla which are everywhere!!
For 70 grand I could buy a used AMG Mercedes AND a used Range Rover. That thing is worth 35k tops. It’s got handsome exterior styling. But the interior looks cheap. Especially having an IPad for a center console and an iPhone max for a gauge cluster. Low rent. And the fact that it was sold without full functionality is inexcusable. Especially at 70k. Why would anyone settle for this kind of trash? No thanks. Dross
I'm watching every review i can find because price for models in my area are dropping like a stone with a rocket pointed downwards and im feeling tempted to jump into something stupid. Can i use it as a grocery getter? They're about to hit sub 25k
I own both Fisker and Tesla Model Y, I can easily tell you that Fisker is my preferred daily ride. Better build quality, handling, comfort, fun to drive and attention to detail... I dont know what he talks about but I found this guy overly skeptical...
Because Fisker will never achieve acc. The Fisker software engineers are the people who Volkswagen and GM rejected for their bloated failing UI teams. In a world where good software engineers get job offers daily, Fisker hired the people sitting at home wishing they could find a job.
Automatic Climate Control is more an HVAC issue than a software one. If the hardware works and has the capacity to cool the vehicle then getting software sufficient to make it work seems an unlikely cause for not having it. @@tribalypredisposed

@readtherealanthonyfaucibyr6444 The Ocean Sport model is also under $40k. They haven't delivered any. Don't know if they made any. Production was halted and we haven't heard when they will start again. Fisker needs to sell a few thousand cars first. That is the impression that the sales guys indicated to me, asking me to upgrade to Ultra. But for my kids, I'm only willing to buy the Sport. I wouldn't count on the Pear. We haven't heard any signed deals with Foxconn like they were suggesting a while back. Fisker should focus on the Ocean to make it successful first.
@readtherealanthonyfaucibyr6444 Agreed. They need to do really high volume to generate profits on the lower end cars. I think their Sport trim will sell well if the can resolve the software bugs.
As much I want this to succeed it sounds like come back in at least 12 months if the company is still going. 70k for a car in pre production mode. You’ve got to be kidding.
Limited numbers of starts to 60 in 4.1 seconds? that's pathetic. The BYD seal that costs half that much can do it in 3.8 forever and it looks much better with more features.

Beautiful looking SUV
but Drives like CRAPPY.
I own an Ocean One. The best car I've ever had and a thrill to drive. It tops my Model 3.

Just wait until the company goes bankrupt. Then let us know how great it is.
@@CarShopping101 I'm actually not worried about the stock price hysteria. You a Tesla simp?
Agreed. My FOO has been awesome and really fun to drive.
FISKER is Fraudulent.
TomTom is still a thing? Hopefully Fisker gets their tech game in order, as their designs are very nice.
The electric cars in general are way out of line in their cost structure,
Secondly---and this is the primary reason I'm waiting---I have concerns that Fisker will even survive.
Good example of why generally it's not the best idea to buy the first year of any car, at the very least until it's had a volley of software updates
Software improvement updates have been coming fast.

Indeed, if someone had told you to put money in Nvidia in 2010 or in Tesla in 2016, you'd have called them stupid.
My 2023 Porsche Macan S which I’ve owed for a year still has software issues. That’s the new normal, from phones to washing machines. I’ve driven the Ocean and Kia EV6, Ocean wins hands down. Expect the software and features to improve, lets give them a little run time

I knew I recognized some of the footage... BMW dealership on the 78 in Vista, CA.. which closed down... and is now a Fisker center?
Confirmed correct!
This is better looking than a Tesla Y or ioniq. Seems to fit the two things I care most about. Range and looks. Think a test drive is in order thx
Looks are subjective! But I share your opinion.
Love the Ocean so far. Software is the weak spot, but thinking that will be a different story in 6-8 months.
Agreed. Paying for subpar quality and promises needs to stop. Tesla is a prime example besides Fisker.

Mighty white of you to make a pun like that. Or not.
I like the car but that boost mode button with a 500 use limitation is a terrible idea. Each time you press it, the vehicle depreciates a bit more.
I love the fact that this car has 2500 miles of free solar charge per year! If they can increase that to 5,000 miles!! THEN BOOM I WOULD NEVER HAVE TO CHARGE THE CAR! there are tons of people that only do 5k or less!
This car solves a huge issue!
honest question, are you going to leave it outside exposed to the elements just to gain 3 miles of charge a day!?
@@PeterPyoYeah, buying a brand new $65k+ car and intentionally parking it outside in direct sunlight 365 days a year is ridiculous 😂
I can’t believe this Edmunds guy put startups like Fisker in the same startup category as Tesla

B/c the company is already on the verge of bankruptcy. That's how.
