Thanks for sharing this, john, and to Artisan Ideas for getting you a copy of your own. Just pasued your vid to order my copy from Amazon. I bought the other book after seeing your other vid on it. Wish I had this one first, but will be very ,very happy to have them both. Thank you again- these two books will be cherished and loved but also beat up in the shop as I work projects from both. VERY, Very high quality and full of projects that interest me a LOT. Dave
Looks great!, I am hopefully goimg to be making a cooking grid based on the one from the Mästermyr find book you showed a few months ago. Keep up with these videos as I need to build not only my skill at the anvil but also my inspiration library!
Lol...thanks for the review. Just like others I paused the video and ordered a copy. With 25k subs and many inspired to order you should get some kind of kickback!
@@BlackBearForge i would buy a book from you. You make the things im wanting to learn to make. Hinges, door pulls, shelf brackets..etc stuff that im wanting to make for my little house build. I would someday like to further my lacking skills to do tools. I wouldn't mind making a real wrought iron storm door for my house. I kmow most people would just say go buy the stuff at lowes. But thats not what i want. Im building a rustic little house and i want it to be authentic. Basically i want to do practical useful things.
OK so this might not be the place for this question but here goes anyways. I have heard you say on several occasions about preheating you anvil..... What and how does this mean? Thank You in advance for your response. --STeve
I would recommend The Backyard Blacksmith by L. Sims. I had the pleasure of meeting her briefly when I bought an anvil from one of her friends. I wish I wasn't 3 hours away or I would take some classes with her, she couldn't have been nicer or more willing to help. The book is great for a beginner.
Wow, really well illustrated. Most of the blacksmithing books I have seen - the photos really let them down, so that quality of the photo's in this alone set it apart from other books I have seen. Would love to buy the book, but US overseas shipping rates are ridiculous - more than the price of the book to ship it to me.
Next one on my list.. 🔥🔨
I would like to vote for the lock project. That would be very interesting to see you make.

Thanks for the reminder! I had forgotten to order this one, so it's on the way. :)
That looks like an amazing book. I think I will have to add that one to my Blacksmithing library!
I think those are going on my Christmas list!
Wow, what a great book.
I think I will add both of them to my Christmas list :)
A good book I need to add to my library.
Awesome info

When are you going to write a book? It would be great.
There are so many books that all read the same I am afraid thats what mine might become. But maybe someday.

Hi John, I am getting a red residue on my solid stock coming out of my propane forge. Any idea what is causing this.
The propane forge. It is a common form of red scale or iron oxide that comes from the propane burners.

Black Bear Forge Thank You for the reference. Sometimes the obvious is always so.
For absolute beginners, do you have a list of favorite books?
